i come here wondering whats the difference between the gundams and the vf-25 or just the macross units (besides the transformation part). and do both mechas practical use for them in combat? and there somebody who wrote why gundams would not work but i cant find it and if you know where i can find it that would be great

What is the smallest size of a mech (relative to pilot size) that will still be considered a "mech" and not a "suit" or something else?

if you wear it it's a suit/power armor
if you pilot it it's a mech/robot
if you control it remotely it's again a robot
The size doesn't really matter unless it's a weird case like Dai Apolon, where the main character becomes a giant when the robots combine.
IMO the pilot's body has to fit within the "torso" of the mech. If their limbs are within the limbs of the mech, it's a suit. Mech's limbs have to be controlled indirectly.

Gundams now are 150 m tall robots.
They have FTL engines and can also warp into space.
The "white base" is a 4 km spaceship.
The main plot is there a big war going on. One planet against the other. Just like kinda the Legend of Intergalactic Heroes.
Then there is a big alien invasion. And everybody has to unite to fight this evil entity.
Just like mass effect.
