I know a lot of people prefer the 500 but the mav is usually cheaper everywhere I look. I'm a righty so I don't really need the ambidextrous tang safety. What do? Mav is cheaper because its made with cheaper components. Fuctionally really similar though.

My dog just caught a rabbit in my small suburban, fenced backyard. He injured it pretty bad and I made him leave it on the deck. It was bleeding and couldn't get up. It just lied there. Now I'm no expert, but it looked like there was no way it would have survived. So I shot it with my air rifle, to put it out of its misery. The question is this. Rabbits are common here and I occasionally see them in my tiny yard. Will the blood from this rabbit keep other rabbits away? I have no idea why they're even attracted to my yard. I just don't want to worry about this.

So I'm trying to decide between buying a Mosin Nagant ( either refurbished surplus w/ matching bolt/rifle/scope serials or brand new ) or VEPR ( brand new ) from the Molot factory. My problem is I can't decide which and I like both and I even saw a "tactical" version of the VEPR in AK General which made my decision even harder. I plan on trying them both at local ranges ( if I can find them ) but in the event I'm not able to do so I was hoping you /k/ommando's would be kind enough to share your experiences using these funs with me. As much as I like the VEPR I can get the surplus or brand new Mosin for less. I also like the traditional long-rifle look although I do like the fact the VEPR is semi-auto, made from an RPK has that wicked looking stock. I also like the thought of the "Tactical VEPR" ( pic related ) anon posted in AKG but something about the Mosin really enchants me. I want to hear about the experiences /k/ has had with these guns.

I'm ready to take the plunge and get my first handgun. After firing a few at the range, I settled on a glock no no one's surprise, but I have a few questions:
Gen 3 vs 4: is there any real reason to get one over the other?
New or used: The sights on the gen 4 I rented weren't very good, and I hear that ex-LE g19s often have good sights on them, but I can't find a single one in stock on any website under $600 and none of my LGS have them in stock. Should I just get it new and get used to the standard sights?

Literally no reason to get one over the other apart from personal preference. The differences are minimal but if you really want to split hairs handle both before you buy. The best option is to buy whichever is cheaper.

Depends. You can get a new glock for $500-550. You can get a used glock for $450-500. Does the extra $50-100 matter to you? As long as it wasn't beat to shit it'll still work just fine and you can replace every single part at your leisure or as needed making...

I use a blackhawk "diversion" bag that looks like a tennis racquet bag and has a divider for the upper and lower. A bit more lo profile moving the rifle to/from the car to home.
Anything cheaper would be crap. In the realm of what you are looking for, that is reasonably priced. Just save your pennies and get that.
Also that is not "covert" it doesn't look like an instrument or camera case. It screams gun bag.
