What's the shortest fixed AR15 stock that still uses a rifle buffer/spring?
Doing a 20" build, cant fucking find a vltor A5.
I still wanna be able to use the rifle with chest rig/ armor.
Shortest I can find is an A1 stock, but I still think that'd be too long. I'm 6', so it's not a comfort thing, I just dont wanna limit when I can use the rifle.

Uses the same round as the AK-47 and AKM. 7.62x39.
Ammunition is widely available and pretty damn cheap. Easily the second most popular intermediate cartridge in the USA assuming that's where you are.
Absolutely a great entry rifle. Cheap, reliable, low maintenance, fairly accurate, low recoil, dirt cheap ammo that can be found litetaly anywhere.

mossberg 590a1 is as close to indestructible as you can get.
I'd check out the Ithaca Model 37 as well.
If you're going to abuse it I'd recommend the chinese knock off of the 870 called the H&R 1871. Pardner Pump. You can find them for less than $200 and they're pretty much the same shotgun. No drop in quality.
