Bre Ve is a friend on another forum. He trolled ATF pretty hard last night on FB.

Brian Terry's brother reached out to thank him and James Yeager offered him free classes for this post. He also started getting calls from media outlets tonight. All from this one post.

The first reply he received was "Get off this page" from an ATF agent named Becky Solis. Apparently she didn't get the response she expected because she deleted her post and locked down her FB profile. Sorry Becky, we thought you were used to being called a bitch.

Anyway, this is worth a good laugh. The comments are priceless. Go forth and troll ATF's FB page...

Thanks to Hickock it's very easy to understand the differences between standard and subsonic ammunition, particularly 5.56.
I did not even think about the issues with cycling it would cause. Blew my mind that I overlooked it.

This might sound shitty because I know everyone loves that dude, but I prefer the channel without him. Shit just moves faster. It always seemed like he would just spin into long-winded diatribes about random shit.

Seemed like a cool guy anyhow. Sucks that he died.

So how the fuck would modern militaries even kill this thing? Immune to nukes, immune to anything short of mecha-tier weaponry, what could be done?

immune to nukes? nope there is no such thing.
at point blank range nukes simple ionize and eliminate any material with the gamma rays in a 30 meter radius nothing will remain standing.

I'm not carrying it and the plunger holds the thumb safety in the frame when in the fire position, but what the fuck? Is it broker or is it possible it was assembled incorrectly?

The Safety will only slide on when the hammer is fully cocked and in the safe position. Otherwise it's fine. Doesn't even matter since I never use manual safeties anyway, but 1911s are something I know the ins-and-outs of.

>>
>>28446624
check the plunger tube for a spring
that plunger should be touching the thumb safety regardless of position

you can only pull the thumb safetly out when its in the cocked position thats normal but the plunger should be keeping it from just falling out

Hi /k/, new gun buyer here looking to buy my first handgun before Obama makes it lengthy/impossible to obtain.

I was looking at .357 revolvers, but decided I want a 9mm. I'm most interested in the S&W SD9VE. Cheap, reliable, all-around good starting gun from what I've read.

What does /k/ think? Apparently the trigger is the only issue with this gun, and at <400$ I don't think I can go wrong here.
62 posts and 9 images submitted.
>>
If you want an SD9VE go ahead and jump for the M&Ps, better overall quality. They're fine carry weapons.
Go to the store and try out the weight, size, and how it feels in your hands.

Now prepare for the shotstorm
>>

>shitstorm
I never visit /k/, sorry if I violated some board culture.

Thanks for the tip though.
>>
>>28449933
You didn't, you're just going to get copypasta teling you to research 30 clones of Glocks, read five books, buy a Nugget, etc.
I try to jump on these threads before that happens.

.357 is a perfectly fine carry round, if you try out some 9mm and find the recoil too snappy then a revolver in .357's weight may be better for dampening that. .357 magnums can also fire lighter .38spcl rounds which are good for cheap range time.

And you will need to spend time gitting gud if you expect this gun to protect you.

Looking for some soft armor to keep around just in case It Happens. Tell me what you know, /k/.

How is Armour Wear's Spartan 3A Vest. Also, if anybody has any experience with that exact vest, how the fuck does the sizing work?

OP, sadly /k/ will tell you shit-all about soft armor and has no idea what companies make good product. They'd much rather waste their money on AR500 plates.
>>
>>28446384
Don't have experience with exact same vest, but Spartan is one of the big names in armor manufacturing, and it is to my understanding that they are pretty much all the same nowadays.

You can adjust the fit with those velcros, from the side and from the top.
Pick the size of your T-Shirt (S/M/L...) and you should do fine.

Why didn't the Germans build any aircraft carriers before/during WW2?

Genuinely curious as to what the reasons were.
47 posts and 7 images submitted.
>>
>>28446222
Raeder was a "gun club" admiral who thought aircraft carriers were a fad.

Doenitz was rapidly promoted up from U-boat commander, meaning his experiences gave him a significant bias towards subs and away from a surface fleet. Therefore he worked with Speer to focus production on subs.

A lack of carriers really wasn't a huge liability for Germany until 1943, but if they had them, combined with trained crew and recon flying boats, it would have made convoys job more difficult and possibly denied access to the Meditteranean.

The question at that point is one of opportunity cost, where would the resources to build and crew the carriers have come from, and how would that have affected operations elsewhere?
>>
>>28446291
This isn't a bad explanation. They were never going to be able to produce enough surface ships to truly challenge the allies, so carriers weren't vital to their operations.

The other reason? Germany is in the middle of Europe.

Everywhere they were really fighting they could drive to without a boat. Putting a bunch of money into expensive boats? A bad idea when you are fighting on the continent.
>>
>>28446222
They had no experience from building them in the 20s/early 30s and the British or Americans sure as hell weren't willing to help them out.

They didn't have a need for carriers because the Luftwaffe wasn't being developed for long range combat (i.e against the British) and was designed for supporting ground operations with close air support. The Navy was hopelessly starved of planes by Goring when Naval-Recon could've greatly helped wolfpacks in the early war.

Japan/USA/UK were the only countries who saw the importance of carriers because of the massive distances for operations in the Pacific.

Any capital/carrier development by Germany would've cut into tank/land-based aircraft production.

There were plenty of reasons why Germany didn't have carriers, it was a land-based military and the three countries listed above were all Naval. You don't just zap carriers, carrier planes and carrier tactics out of thin air.

So I'm going to be in central Europe in April for two months. What are some places I should go visit? I wanted to see the H&K factory in Oberndorf, the SIG-Sauer HQ in Eckenforde, or the CZ factory in Uhersky Brod, but apparently they don't allow visitors at any of those places unless you're a big-time buyer like military or law enforcement. So what is there to do for a civilian into guns?
