I find it so fucking hard to find pdfs of art books man. And they're so fucking expensive. Life sucks.

What is the best way to teach toddlers/little kids how to draw?
>>2316453
Give them them drawing materials and let them develop a taste for doing it.
Let them have fun with it
Actually learning perspective, anatomy, etc will take basic geometry knowledge and life experience I don't think someone younger than 12 can possibly have, when dealing with small kids the best thing to do is give them a pencil and let them have fun while drawing, they will benefit greatly from this.
what's some good music to paint/draw etc. to, /ic/?
here's what I just listened to.

*accidentally posted the same video twice.
I listen to a lot of movie soundtracks. The Prestige is a good one.
Just Zappa.
Zappa day and night.

the GoT books, I already got through the tales of dunk and egg this way
LPers and reviwers
and I don't even like vidya or the things being reviwed that much but the mix of trash talking and random bursts of noise is pretty soothing.

Read the bottom two text bubbles.
Is life experience essential for becoming a 'good' artist?
Short answer, yes
>>2316405
pretty much this
But isnt drawing itself a life experience?
I'm looking for a word document posted here a year or so ago about "learning to draw in a year" or something to that effect, posted by a tripfag I can't remember for the life of me. It started off with telling you to download the "Perspective 1-10" tutorial series, and listed other good resources as it went down. Does anyone still have it? If so, please upload it!

YEAH, that's the one. Thanks man, really appreciate it.
>>2306207
Huh, this one's more fleshed out. Neat.
Man you guys look like a talented bunch, have any of you won an award yet?
>>2317251
I've won several over the years and I still am depressed. Recognition is pretty meaningless.
>>2317251
I've won the
Mom & Dad tell friends and relatives I'm still 'finding myself' instead of telling them I dropped out of uni to become an artist - award.
>>2317251
I won a few through school/college. Nothing worthwhile.
I use pencil to make the sketches. The color is digital.

Why isn't ic interested in fine art/contemporary/new stuff? It's just boring classical and illustration. Are there any communities that are more geared towards making it in the fine art world? Or do I just need to move because those kind of people aren't online
>>2312784
The fine art world is pretty fractured I think. There's so many different movements and goals and galleries.
What specifically are you interested in? I bet you can find at least a handful here who also are interested in it.
>>2312791
I'm mainly interested in how the art world is going to change with this generation.
the current trends I see in colleges, art residences, and exhibitions:
Emphasis on installation and performance, conceptual, art thats about thoughts not feelings, interest in philosophy, asking the question "what is art", irony is a big one, long artist statements filled with big academic words, a lot of work that is purposefully mysterious or incomprehensible,
I figure most of those things are...

Because a lot of the "art" we see today requires little to no actual skill to create, just an idea. And while an idea is good and all, there is no way to say "This is good art, this is bad art" since there is no level of skill to judge it on. So you're basically stuck with an art piece where you have to say "WoW aRt is So NicE!" and you're staring at a fuckign dogshit covered with ketchup and put inside a dead cows vagina.
Does anyone have experience with this?
How hard would it be to rip the videos and save for personal use. If it's not too difficult I'd be willing to share their videos with you, my fellow d/ic/ks.
Don't share them. Rip them using a screen recorder, but do not share them.
As for the site itself, it's OKAY, it needs work though.

>Don't share them.
Why?

they will find out and send you to prison.

Post your current drawing here and give constructive critique to others!
Please make sure your posted image is clear, downsized to around 1000 pixels wide, rotated to the correct orientation, and that any unused space is cropped.
If you want critique on a drawing from the previous thread, you can delete it there and repost in this one.

Not really used to doing studies (or working from reference in general..), but decided to finally force myself to do some!
Any tips/critiques?

Here's the ref I used
I've had this idea in my head for a while which is an alien technology that is often boxy mixed with smaller elements of Giger esque curves. No displays or visible sensors but there would be many analogue switches and manual cranks and things that look like they're meant to be operated by something that's not human.
Its propulsion is based around these like, movable magnetic plates or something that suck in air between them, hyper pressurize it and then blast it out the other end.
Anyway, I'm just faffing about with some designs before I actually...

you guys are so lazy about making new draw threads. anyways heres this. i tried doing something different with the plates because I think the way they are hatched is too stylistic, and not helpful enough. obviously there's no substitute for life drawing but I felt like this was better practice for me than doing a million vertical lines.
>>2308180
also i drew this girl again. it's very relaxing drawing her at the end of the day
Beginner Thread
Because we should not have to make new threads or post in draw threads with our fundamental exercises. Feel free to post even the smallest exercise you have done to show you are still trying, do not give up.
Do not forget to resize and crop your images before uploading them. 1kpx is fine.
