Hello /gd/ I'm fairly experience with illustrator but I can't figure out this one. I want to convert a smooth gradient from a gradient mesh to shades like the image on the right.
The work I'm doing has complex shapes so blend steps isn't an option here.
This effect was achieved by rasterizing the gradient mesh on the left and auto tracing it with a limited color pallete using Image Trace, but this is a retarded way to do it and the results aren't that great.
Could you guys help me out? I don't know if theres a plugin to do such job, I've been on Astute's website but couldn't find anything handy

Image Trace>16 Colors (expand image trace window and adjust the number of colors to your liking. 10 seemed to work pretty well.)

Thanks but thats what I did in the first place to achieve pic related. You don't even need to live paint it.. I was looking for a workflow that didn't included the rasterize/trace option because it's intensive and results aren't that great, it's like giving two steps to front and one backwards..

Just get custom symbols or something, some are free, or buy em.
You can also make custom icons by combining shapes and parts of fonts, or other patterns, custom shapes, etc.

a good slideshow doesn't need fancy effects or visuals. it should only serve to reinforce the presentation you're already giving.
your pic, for example, is a shitty slideshow because it's full of paragraphs and bullshit that nobody will read, nor should they. especially you. NEVER READ FROM YOUR OWN SLIDESHOW.
each slide should contain no more than 3-4 lines of text (maybe 5 if you're really pushing it), and they should just be the main points you're speaking about. elaborate with your speech, do not elaborate in the slideshow

don't know if this is the right place to ask, but I'm looking for the name of a certain visual design
Specifically, visual designs from late 90s era US motorcoach seats. The ones I'm thinking of all had some sort of "rainbow" or similar patterns on a grey or dark ash background. Somewhat like pic related. Occasionally I think these patterns also showed up in various commercial carpets and fabric cubicle panels of the time as well.
also before anyone asks I am NOT thinking of pic related, it was not a tropical/rasta design at all

how would you guys go about fixing / replicating this beard correctly?
i'm having some trouble, it's been a while since i've used Illustrator this much. the straight lines look really awkward to me but i can't make every beard strand thick.
left is the original sticker, it's really destroyed / faded so it's kinda hard to see everything.

i was doing a little illustrator tracing, but the original photo is so old that it's a little hard to see where one strand ends and the other begins.
as for the color range, im not trying to replicate the rust i'm removing it

how can one get single strokes to have pointed edges? if you see the chin in my pic, i tried making a fully completed stroke and it just squared off on the ends.
