You have a DAC in your PC right now, a digital audio decoder. The only reason to get this is because of it decodes USB audio through for example their ASIO drivers and uses the low-noise TI DAC/amp combo on itself so it doesn't pickup any noise from your onboard mobo. So I sent a email to http://willmyphonework.net/ about the redmi note 3 pro and they updated the site with the proper info. So the China Mobile and Unicom Edition is the mediatek version and the Global edition is the snapdragon version which supports lte in the states depending on your carrier. This should be in the next op.

My bet is that 80% of what it's doing can be replicated with a fiio e6 on the highest bass boost setting, and you can get another 15% by using the compressor setting and *maybe* increasing the stereo width a little bit on a rockbox'ed device like a sansa clip+ (probably could find a smartphone app).
I'll allow a 5% 'voodoo factor' because *maybe* it has a proper multiband compressor onboard, but I doubt it. It's far too small to do it well in hardware, so if it's got one it's got to be in software which would imply an additional full ADC -> processing -> DAC step and the additional distortions that brings.
TL;DR buy the Fiio e6 , I own one and it's great. Also get a refurbed sansa clip+ or clip zip and a 128 GB shark
