What cheap Chink tech have you bought, and would you recommend it?

Yes, we know everything is already from China but in here we discuss the no/low-name cheap shit you see on eBay, AliExpress, Gearbest and similar sites.

My TS100 came today (ordered Monday with banggood's EU direct).

You can see it here on top of the box it came in.
And below connected to an old laptop power supply.(Unfortunately I didn't manage to get a good shot of the display with my shitty camera)

You can also see a random screw I had lying around in it, that's because I managed to warp the shitty Allen key it came with,
and I had nothing small enough to put the original screw in.

Apart from that, I'm pretty happy with it. It's very light and small, it's plastic but still very solid, the display is bright and easy to read, and it heats up crazy fast (from room temp to 300°C in like 5 seconds).

I want to replace my Lumia 640 since windows phone is really dead.
I need a phone to take some pictures, use the web, listen to music... the usual stuff, nothing that would be too demanding (I think).
Would Xiaomi Redmi 3 be enough for 2~years? Or should I go for note 3? Note 3 has worse battery life, it's a bit too big and no micro sd card.
Is honorbuy the best place for me to buy it in EU?

I haven't been charged by the customs with any of Gearbest's recent packages, they use EU postal companies so that gives them a free pass(?) for the most part I'm guessing.

I already have a pair of Gunnar glasses at work so getting a cheap pair for home to see how they stack up.

inb4 shitty gaymur gear - the fluoro lights in my office give me massive headaches and the Gunnars go a fair way to mitigate that.

Windows still thinks it activated, just be prepared for it to randomly un-activate one day.

Sent a message to Gearbest to see what they say about this.

Pirating the most important part of it all, the OS, it's just dumb. They should have just sold it with inactivated Windows. Chinks are so smart, they could get sued over this if the company is even any serious.
>>
>>54069210

Expect to charge it nightly. The best of both worlds would be a smartwatch with the foitprint of a MiBand. The only watches like that have the display sideways and don't have much functionality.

Chinese courts dont give a fuck about IP, especially the IP of an American company. Even if the company got sued, they're just resellers, they'll shut down and start back up under a different name the next day.

Gearbest is selling it knowing that its not activated, they're equally at fault.

>>

The MOTOSPEED Inflictor CK104 is apparently pretty good.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=toVYf8ZtPGg

Features and Functionalities:
- On-the-Fly Configurable RGB Backlighting (7 colors) with 10 different, built-in, Lighting Modes
- Double-Shot PBT Keycaps
- Outemu Blue Switches (the ones w/ Clear Tops)
- Aluminum alloy faceplate (I don't know exactly what type of metal, but aside from what they claim)
- Drainage Holes
- Rubberized feet
- Various FN-key functions built in (like multimedia keys/back light configuring)
Pros:
- Good built quality & materials
- Good level of configurability
- The price/the value ($49.99 USD at the time of ordering)
Cons:
- Lack of software
- Lack of Mini USB Port
- No Braided Cable
Subjective Considerations:
-Loud clicks
-Keycap Font - The WIN key looks a little out of place
-Shape and other aesthetics
-No Macros
-No configurable layout (QWERTY, DVORAK, etc), unlike higher end mechs
-Very low profile keyboard - spacing between some keys are closer than usual

The actual sensor and its lens are on a piece of sticky foam, and connected to the mainboard via a flat flex ribbon, so you could remove the floating PCB ring that holds the LEDs and unstick the sensor and it would sit very, very flat.

This costs more than that retina tablet, and is a far way from what I want. Oh well, guess what I need will never exist..

go smoke some crack and buy some orange pis

at least you can enjoy the delusion for a few hours
>>
>>54072464
I thought about that, but those use so much power and most laptops are trash after 2 years. It's just so painful.
>>
>>54072316
desu you can always buy yourself a nice 1037u based miniitx board, you'll need ram power supply and some kind of box for it, but it's dirt cheap ($30ish) for what can be done on it.

Wise words. I bought one of those PIs because my old Raspberry Pi is getting worn out and it costs $15 compared to the $60 they charge for that RPi 3 here. Maybe that was the reason I hoped they could sell one of those x86 boards on chinknet.
>>
>>54072590
Well, Via actually released their own x86 sbc.
But it's just really awful and expensive.
>>
>>54072560
Got any idea of where to get that? I thought about doing this actually if it's not got too poor of a CPU >>54072464 but disassembling a notebook is such a fucking pain these days. Also those got such a nice low TDP ~17 W, something I'd like.
>>
>>54065885
Those benchmarks are a little skewed.
The one on the left is 32GB and the one on the right is 64GB. The one on the left is also more than half full, which does affect performance. I mean Given the gap in performance and the distribution of the numbers, the Shark is still way better, but that's to be expected of an empty card of much larger capacity.
>>
>>54072490
For 100 dollars that thing looks pretty good. I think I will order it. And if it gets warm isn't a problem. I own a phone that constantly hits 65C when I am using it.

Yeah, it goes down to 200°C if you lay it down for 3 minutes. But I don't see the point, since it heats up literally in seconds, so I just disconnect the power supply if I don't need it for a while.
>>
>>54072732
>And if it gets warm isn't a problem

people who don't expect cons in something this good are idiots.

It is a steal at that price, you won't compile shit on it or use it as a media center but it's great at simple shit and is very versatile with it having windows

but I did find another caveat

it might not come with genuine windows
>>
>>54072953
I don't know what Microsoft asks the OEMs to pay for licenses, assuming they ask lowest to these Chinese companies where piracy is high though? Either way a win if it's over ten dollars, the more money you save the cheaper it gets.

Because my phone broke some days ago.

wait, now that you talk about licenses, I remembered that msoft is supposed to make licenses free for oems that make tablets

although I've seen that people have ungenuine windows on their tabs

I suggest you ask in the newer thread for more insight

Nope, it's fine.

> Seriously, why do you think shops don't sell them in your country?
Because most of them don't want to resell Chinese shit that is available for a very low price on the internet?

There is no 30-100%+ margin they can grab without getting reputation hits as people realiye how much they've been jewed off or being bypassed. It needs to be *western rebrand / brand name here* acquired from *exclusive regional distributor name here* resold everywhere at *price tag close to MSRP here*.

>>
>>54073494
The A-BF doesn't come with Mike's different rebrand variant switch, and it already has a fatter cable. Mike should have listened to me, if anything.

That said, the TS100 certainly looks good.
>>
>>54073664
PS: The TS100 is a little more than twice as expensive than the A-BF and also costs more for the tips, but I think it might be good for the pastebin.

Open sauce firmware & tinkering with settings might be pretty cool, plus it seems more easy to put in toolboxes with the detachable cord, and it looks good to anon and Mike on YT.
>>
>>54073846
>The TS100 is a little more than twice as expensive than the A-BF and also costs more for the tips
Another drawback is that it doesn't come with a power supply. I checked before ordering if I had laptop power supplies that would fit and one from an old netbook did the trick.
I might also make an adapter so I can use my main laptop's power supply, so the TS100 would take up barely any extra space when carrying it in my laptop bag.
>>
>>54072952

If something were going to be damaged, it would be damaged well before the three minute timer. What is the point?
>>
>>54074230
It's there so the soldering iron doesn't have to run at full power all the time. Which probably increases its life span or something.
