Given how Alteans have seemingly moved beyond flavor and have focused more on the nutrition and utility when it comes to their food, the salty/sweet/savory/bitter/meaty tastes of Terran cuisine will either completely disgust or blow their goddamn minds.
As for culture, Allura will be weirded out that the planet doesn't have a single ruling monarch in charage of everything.
Coran will likely become obsessed with earth hair dyes and mustache styles.
Seeing how disciplined the other Galactic Garrison cadets are, they'll joke about replacing the current Team Voltron with these more conventional grunts.
Allura might accidentally say something insulting like how Earth is far more advanced than some of the more underdeveloped planets they've encountered. Coran will TRY to salvage the remark with the addendum that humans could've been a lot more primitive than they are now.
I can see them taking a liking to Earth music and movies, taking a whole bunch of it into the Castle databanks before they go. Galactic Garrison sternly asks them if they paid for any of it, before its representatives laugh it off and say that their own people illegally download the stufff all the time.

Man, I just want the Garla to tear their ears out wondering how a bunch of fleshy primitives managed to create something that rivals the power of Voltron when they haven't been able to crack the formula for over 10, 000 years with only some discount Kaiju to show for their efforts.
I can see some shortcomings with Vehicle Voltron that could make for some nice deconstruction though.
-Power issues
-Components sometimes move too fast (out of necessity given who they're fighting) for their pilots to control properly
-After they combine, they need to manually pry off and repair each part because the vehicles fuse together during combat because of the extreme heat
-cockpits aren't nearly as roomy as Team Voltron's
-when they combine, they deploy hundreds of forcefield drones to guard them so they have time to join together
You could have the origin of the tech be Galactic Garrison finding the Tomb of the Blue Ghost, the former Blue Paladin who failed to defeat the Garla and chose to hide his Lion on Earth along with all the knowledge about Voltron's structure that he possessed because he didn't know if any of the other Paladins or their crafts survived and he was confident that the Earthlings would one day be advanced enough to understand and possibly improve upon what he left behind.

Honestly, I love the roster. Coming in blind I was sure Hunk and Lance were both going to be the worst parts of Bolin from Korra cut into two characters. Instead, all the different characters make up for their character flaws with good instincts and a great team dynamic.

Voltron excels in consistency. I only barely noticed it the first time watching it, but the writing and direction change in Thundercats is pretty obvious in retrospect once I learned what happened.
I'd say Thundercats set up a lot more "what the fuck is going on in this setting" in its early episodes than we've gotten out of Voltron so far. Voltron has a few hints of shit to explore later, but so far things have kind of proceeded without much interesting things happening in the forefront. Thundercats delved into the weird technological ruins and racial tension as an interesting story point pretty early on, and it set up a nice tone for future development. It's just kind of a shame the character relationships and plot just devolved over time. Voltron is currently ahead in that too: no dumb fucking character drama and repeating of resolved conflicts. Yet.

Problem is Keith's bayard is a sword and Hunk's is a heavy weapons canon. And Keith's Voltron weapon is a sword and Hunk's is a heavy weapons canon. Hunk's isn't the exact same thing, being shoulder mounted and showing different shooting abilities, but it's the same basic concept. That can work for Pidge, and we don't know what Shiro's could be, but Lance presents a problem because his weapon is literally just a Mass Effect rifle. The writing and overall production staff is largely the same, aside from a newcomer I think, but they were all the lower rung people before: Episode writers and secondary producers and artists and what not. None of the head people from any department art in charge of Voltron, such as Bryke. And all the people working on Voltron have also worked on other shows, mostly the DCAU Justice League stuff.

I honestly hate how personalized political conflicts in fiction can become. I mean, how the fuck does having the "bad guy" be an asshole because of him doing something typically considered "immoral" make him the "bad guy", while an anti-hero is an asshole who isn't "immoral" but when he is "immoral" it's out of edgyness, is both fucking stupid.
And the problem isn't with "modern fiction". The problem is that most fiction is a commodity, and as a consequence is a consumerist affair; so expect mainstream entertainment (or that inspired by it) to be as superficial as consumerism gets.

Anyway, it's a teamwork moral. One Lion is all around better in combat, but one can more easily be modded, and one is more heavily armored but lacking fire power, another is less good at combat but easier to find pilots for and has freeze rays, the other is temperamental but has melting rays and a lot of fire power. Each one has different uses and strengths and together they cover up each others weaknesses.
Also, given the parts they're meant to form, they can't all be as bulky as the Black Lion. Some have somethings instead of others, because, generally speaking, it makes sense that there's opportunity costs with the systems and designs. They can't have everything thing at once.

I was commenting on a mix of in show stuff and descriptions on the site, which describe the Black Lion as being the best, pure combat wise. Shiro certainly helps, and one wonders if that's one of its requirements.

Ice Breath is nice. We don't have too much to go one right now, but the way the show is handling things, with the Lions and Paladins meant to be a team, it's an obvious reading. The Blue Lion is also the only reason Voltron got reformed at all, and despite it supposedly being the weakest and most accepting of the Lions, it still obviously chose Lance over any one else and seems to be the only one that managed to help others get to it (with the "crazy" energy stuff).
I imagine more will come of it when Lance gets his turn at the Character Arc bat.
