What was considered the "golden age" of Cartoon Network?
The first era was 95% airing old or syndicated cartoons, nice but not exactly going anywhere.
The late 90s, the era of Cartoon Cartoons, Toonami movies that weren't crap, and guaranteed new cartoons every Friday night. Felt pretty great.
the Early 00s, the live crap started seeping through and they started borrowing a lot of cartoons from other networks, but they started introducing original serial cartoons like Ben10 and Teen Titans.
Then the dark ages came, I don't see much point in talking about those. We're not quite out of them though.

the later 90s half was what converted me from Nickelodeon. Nick had these shitty live-action shows i gave no shit about, while CN was all cartoons. It just popped up in a channel surf and i rarely went back to Nick.
Also I still think 2011-12? was a golden age for a while. The only canada cartoon was Johnny Test, and whatever came along with Adventure Time and Regular Show. I consider it golden when you never have to change the channel

Fury was undercover and had a identity disguiser that made him look like white Fury.
Humphries Ultimates was really bad, then he left, there was an ok run, then the book ended, then there was a weird run with a completely different set of characters, then 616 and Ultimate destoryed each other, then Secret Wars, and now Miles is in 616 and so is the Maker (Ultimate Reed), and Ultimate Thor's hammer, but everything else is dead

it depends sometimes mangas can be better and easier to get into because they don't have to share an universe with other mangas like marvel and dc do with all their comics
of couse there are also good comics that don't share multiverse but they rarely get superpopular because they don't get movies and tv shows
i guess the advantage manga has is that almost all the anime on tv is based on popular manga
and here most of the cartoons we have are original ideas that go directly to tv maybe things would change if a company decided to take a bunch of little comics and started giviving them an animated series to each one

You don't exist in manga.
If you're going by Shonen, then it's because it's released more often, which (in a perfect world) allows the creative teams to safely play with all kinds of storytelling techniques without needing to worry too much about a single "filler" or non-plot-heavy chapter.
In other cases, I think the lack of color (as a whole) helps. Mangakas are handicapped in that way, but it also forces them to make the best of what they have -- facial expressions are usually more interesting and less perfunctory in manga than in Western comic books, for example. In another odd way, action sequences usually play out better in manga than in comic books -- the lack of color allows for things like motion and intensity to really stand out.
And really, in the realm of action-packed American comics, badly drawn action is a big deal. Nowadays, action in American comics is either used sparingly in comics or done with no real emphasis/focus. You rarely see characters think things through or for there to be any genuine intensity. From a readers' perspective, you can almost feel the lack of interest of both the writer and the artist in crafting these things. And again, this is such a weird/stupid mentality to have when these characters are essentially action symbols -- I mean, in a lot of cases, they're the inspiration behind manga characters' designs and action sequences.

On the one hand it's pretty BS to solve something that real people don't have much hope for outside of surgery and Chemo. I watched both my grandpa and mother die of it so i probably wouldn't like it if the writers went "Bibidi bobboidi no more cancer"
On the other hand I can appreciate that when you have a cure on hand but don't use it for "reasons" is comes across as stupid pointless drama. What they need to do is SHOW the negative consequence of using magic to cure cancer. Like using magic to save her life is a selfish act and makes her no longer worthy or something.

I can certainly understand why it would be distasteful. /co/ had the inverse of the arugment a lot when the cancer thing was first revealed, like, "why make it seem like there is something noble about accepting cancer when most people try and fight it with everything they have?"
In any case, to answer the question, I think the hook is silly because Jane gives an answer so bad she couldn't have made it up-- she says "magic always has a cost." When that isn't true. It's bad cause she knows Thor and Odin and all those people and she has never once seen or been told that magic has a cost. Because Asgardian magic doesn't. So its Aaron basically writing something that makes 0 sense.
He wrote this story. He should've just given Jane the hammer and found some other reason to keep Thor from suspecting her. Cancer doesn't make Jane worthy. Wanting to be a hero doesn't cut it. Aaron just totally fumbled this thing from the get go. DeMattis at least worked up about a year or two before giving Thor's hammer away. There is a way to do it. Aaron did it poorly.

Yeah, it's really good. It's the fullest realization of Millers time writing Daredevil. You can read it on it's own, but reading the first few volumes of Millers Daredevil adds a lot too.
