Do a total fakeout with the marketing.
Get a big A list actor like Matthew McConaughey, cast him as Mahr Veil and present him as another big Marvel character getting a debut. Spends to first half as a Superman style character, beloved by people
Cast another strong supporting female actor and present her as a Lois Lane love interest type.
Then Psreveal the Kree are plotting the destruction of Earth which Mahr Veil is conflicted about but complicate in, he sacrifices himself halfway through the movie and have Carol claim his superhero identity.
Big fireworks ending, everyone parties hard.

I just started watching this show, and I'm finding it hard to get into it. I've only watched the first 2 episodes, so maybe it gets better, but the comic timing and the animation seems far too choppy and quick.

Watch Brainstorm and The Gift 2 (yes there is a Gift 1 but you're supposed to watch 1 first) If you don't like those, then you won't like the show.
The show as a whole gets it's legs when the villains become more self aware and wander gets hammered sometimes for his hippy do-gooding, like with The Quest or The Box. So somewhere around the middle of the first season. Season 2 is great all around.
