The movie start with June in the cave, it's the origin story of Enchantress, then Smith's character try to rob something and get caught, then we see Harley's origin and how Batman caught her and put her in prison, then we see Waller come to her and tell her to join Tesk Force X and that's how we get to meet the rest of the Squad.
Then story is Enchantress wants her full powers back and to do that she needs two things - to bring her brother back to life, she finds a body and transfer his soul to it and they make people into monsters. Second thing she wants is her heart back and Waller has it, she tries to take it back from her. Squad tries to kill her and her brother, they fight the brother on a train like we see in the trailers. Diablo sacrifice his life and make an explosion that kills him and the brother.
Then the Squad gets to Enchantress who has Waller and her heart. They save Waller, Harley destroy the heart and Enchantress is defeated and "thankful" Waller put them back in their cells. End of the movie is Joker - who's mostly just in the background most of the movie and try to get Harley - breaks into the prison and gets her out, she sees him and smiles. End.

I probably found New Avengers more enjoyable, but I think that's because Hickman had a lot of large personalities to work with. When you have Black Panther, Tony Stark, Reed Richards, Doctor Strange and Namor in your title you have a lot of opportunities for conflict and to show off those characters.
Ewing has done a better job with Black Panther so far though, who I would say is the only 'big personality' on the team.
In terms of meta stuff it's a pretty similar situation. Hickman had a lot to work with so we got to see planets colliding and guest appearances from other universes (I'm blending together Hickman's whole arc here but I lose track of what happened under which title). Ewing on the other hand has done a lot with an as-of-yet quite contained story. The Galactus twist was great and the way he presented the sliding timescale.
So I'd probably be more likely to give Hickman another read, but I think ewing would have written it better himself.

Honestly, I can't tell if this is supposed to be DC's answer to MLP, Winx Club or those shitty Tinkerbell movies that Disney keeps pumping out.
Now, I am all for the Superheroines of the DC universe getting a series all to themselves, in fact, that's something I have wanted for ages, but this seems like just seems like a typical Highschool set, superpowered show that just so happens to be DC based?

What does /co/ think of IDW's new ROM and Micronauts books so far? I'm not sure about ROM yet, but I am liking Micronauts quite a bit. The second issue felt better than the first.
And on another note, any hopes for the planned ROM and Micronauts movies?
