Hindsight, twists like this in the new DC continuity are as stupid as the Khan and Blofeld ones from the new Star Trek and Bond movies since their impact is entirely reliant on the audience's familiarity with the revealed character in question.

The New 52 is almost entirely reliant on the audience's familiarity with the characters and past continuity.
Take the start of various books that didn't explain shit about the characters and never will thanks to 5 year gap that will hardly ever be explored. All because the dumb editors thought that the audience wasn't interested in origin stories. One good example is Justice League Dark. Only Vertigo readers would give a crap about that book. Sure, some people will know about Constantine from the movie and now recent series and some will know Zatanna from the cartoons, but the rest? Fuck, no, and the book never cared about reintroducing or developing anyone other Constantine and Zee.
That's the main problem about the reboot. It was lazily done and most of the writers aren't interested in developing the characters from the ground up. They bank on the readers familiarity despite this being a reboot where things should and are mostly different.

Definitely better than modern Moore, at the very least. Morrison is hit and miss at times but he never did anything equally bad as Neonomicon or Lost Girls.

Johns isn't horrible but he's pretty much a glorified fanfiction author (even moreso than capeshit writers by default are) who rarely explores the medium in interesting ways, so Grant is definitely better.

Eh, Moore has written some crap so it can be argued that, yes, Joe the Barbarian (let alone something like Flex Mentallo) is better than Neonomicon or one of the League volumes or whatever. But I think when Moore has been on top of his game, not even Morrison comes close.
