Buzz and Woody are, to this day, Pixar's best character design.
Woody has tons of detail and props on him.
His giant holster, the etching on his boots and all the little bits of stitching you can see
Buzz is absolutely gorgeous in terms of color choice. The green and purple is a great combination ofc, and all the little stickers and blinking lights on him are cool too.
Just a lot of thought and care put into the both of them that sort of waned after Toy Story, that I don't think any 3D animated movie has matched since

Also saying that they behave differently from the movies isn't a good argument for canon.
In the movies you literally never see Anakin's fall from grace except for the few scenes in ROTS. Hell you never see him and Obi-wan act like friends. Except by both the narrative (that's currently canon) and by Lucas (when he still mattered) both of those things were supposed to be true and long established.
iirc the CG Clone Wars show retcons some of the stuff in Gendywars. (At least characterwise)
