It's pretty decent. I'd play it more for the story, because it has a lot of interlude chapters that otherwise flesh out the relationships between the characters, which the original Adventure missed. You should probably learn Japanese, or at least get the partially translated game for the emulator (which is only the main story, if I remember right. I'm unsure.).

Not really, the main antagonist for those episodes was lame and pretty much every episode followed the formula of the kids finding a new era with some item from the human world inconspicuously placed in the midddle of nowhere, then the resident digimon who is good is *GASP* *SHOCK* *HORROR* bad and the kids get in trouble and the digimon transform and save them and that's it. Occasionally you get some character and development but it was too far few and inbetween. Seriously it had a rougher start than Beast Wars.

Probably the closest we ever got to that was Mushamon in Xros Wars. Otherwise, digimon shows nowadays go through evolution stages so fast that it is highly unlikely to see an adult arc villain, and we have to add to that the fact that since tamers, they've been also pushing to add ultimates who evolves from other ultimates, so there's even less time to use on the adult mons.

You do realize that this formula was wittingly made to make you assume Patamon would evolve right at the 8th episode, and that it was broken (twice in a row) just so it could hype its evolution several episodes later revealing him to be the key, right ?
Adventure is probably one of the most rare anime to make a subversion of the monster-of-the-week trope like this. The formula wasn't just only a narrative tool, in itself it was a way to lead you to think it was a simple formula show.
That's also why Tamers was really smart, it understood exactly what Adventure did as a formula and followed the same mindset of breaking it.

This is an interesting opinion and I can follow to a certain degree, but I'd give the two following arguments/reasons why at least the Tailmon=>Angewomon evolution makes sense: first, it's one of the most thematically fitting evolutions when considering the crest of her partner (Light). The other one would be Patamon to Angemon and the other Angel related evos on perfect and ultimate for the Hope crest. Also by then Takeru's patamon had already made the transition from beast digimon to human digimon an interesting and quite accepted possibility, so it sets up an important precedent.
The second thing, and that would need a bit more of a broad analysis, is that the concept or trope of a cat turning into a human form (often a bishoujo or very attractive female) is a very known and popular trope, used on many different series out there. Transformation is a hugely important aspect in the Digimon franchise, so seeing a cat themed digimon transform into a human shaped one using digimons's own take on transformation, while also carrying other fitting design cues (see first point) and adhering to this popular trope is a very nice thing, actually I'd say these are signs of well crafted design.
I give you though that Angewomon evolving to Holydramon is a huge step down considering all the elements and influences brought in the evolution of Tailmon to Angewomon. Ophanimon not only keeps the theme of the human angel digimon set by her perfect form, but holds into or is committed to the design choices that make this line so interesting.

I wish they had just devolved her at the beginning of 02 instead of the I lost my holy ring stuff nonsense, but not the point. The Tailmon to angewomon works the way patamon to angemon works. The problem comes when you look at the line as a whole, and have to include holydramon. Then, angemon just becomes a bump in the road that's influence in the line is pointless. If they permanently retconned it to Ophanimon, I would have no problems at all the with the line. However, considering it looks like we're stuck with holydramon, it'll remain the worst line by a pretty long margin.

Remember how there were multiple universes in 020. My guess is Demon broke out of the cage he was locked in in 02 since he was never actually defeated. Alphamon is actually tracing demon's path and saw the 02 kids as enemies, because they sealed him in the dark world. Alphamon mean while is trying to stop what ever demon is up to and the digidestined are just in the way.

You don't actually know if Mastemon is as powerful as Lucemon. That's just conjecture. And space/time manipulation's a relatively common power in Digimon.
There's no reason to believe that Mastemon is more powerful than Venusmon or Beelstarrmon. Even in Cyber Sleuth, its stats aren't really better than that of the Royal Knights.
