Everyone seems to hate Rebuild Rei and Rei Q compared to NGE.
What's the general thought on Shikinami vs Soryu?
I have seen people say She is Anno's favorite, and that's why she became a better character, well everyone shit on Rei.
I mean Shikinami is obviously a lot more shallow then Soryu, simply because of the movie format. But they really trivalized most of her issues, and just made her kind of a loner.
In 2.0 she had a crush on Shinji, and worked on trusting people sorta. Shinji and Shikinami probably could have hooked up pretty early and had a mostly normal stable relationship, something would have taken years of therapy for Shinji and Soryu.
Outside of that though, Shikinamis entire character is basically defined by Shinji at this point. Sure she does get some pretty badass fight scenes, but other then that, she feels like she is only there for Shinji to win her back. Even the few pieces of dialog Mari gets are about Shinji and Asuka.
They basically got rid of all of Soryu's flaws and made her into a super badass waifu.
Do Asukafags hate Shikinami as much as Reifags hate Q? Do you think they can both co-exist with out ruining the other?

I've watched NGE, EoE, and the Rebuild movies multiple times, and I'm still not sure what the difference is
2.0 Shikinami is a lot like second quarter Soryu anyway, except with more waifuing. I don't think it's degradation of the character considering 2.0 Shinji got legitimately buffed up on badass.
3.0 doesn't exist.
So I'm currently working on the sub of the third Ika Musume OVA, based on the translation that an anon provided some days ago.

Where does Assassin get off ridiculing Western swordplay as being only just able to keep up with allegedly superior Japanese kenjutsu? Medieval European swordsmanship wasn't just flailing about, it was about applying a set of key principles in a practical manner. Also the Western side has a practical advantage in terms of the sword having a cross-guard and the user wearing gauntlets allowing her to do things like grab Assassin's katanah. Overall it's really the kenjutsu practitioner who should be told "wow I'm surprised you're keeping up".

So I just re-watched nise. I know many people compare Hanekawa to Gaen but does anyone think the one resembling Yozuru the most is Karen?
Yozuru said she doesn't bother being clever but faces things head on, loves fighting and wants to destroy "evil".
Karen even said when they met that she could tell how strong Yozuru was because she thought Yozuru wasn't "evil" meaning they have similar moral out looks.
And of course Yozuru was introduced by her walking on top of things like Karen likes to do, but more than that it feel like Yozuru treats everything as a game.
