I thought Yuru Yuri came close, but Azumanga Daioh has something special about it.
The scene where Osaka has a dream where she accidentally kills Chiyo by removing her pigtails and then flies away was actually the first thing I ever saw from an anime (except obviously Sailor Moon, DBZ and Pokemon that everyone saw as kids), many years ago now.
