I'd adopt it as my daughter slash pet. Firstly, I'd force it to wear a bell at all times, and a tall flag, because it might get accidentally stepped on. Alternatively, I'd have to confine it like a pet mouse. I couldn't let it get outside the house without sitting in my pocket, because crows or seagulls might catch her.
If it persists to be free, I'd at least craft her a set of armor from the spare 2mm iron wire that I have lying around, a spear from a needle, and a shield from a spare button.
Of course, I'll also provide her with her own small room and everything she might need. I think my elder sister's old doll house would do, with some cleaning and work. A tray would work for a swimming pool, right?

Judging by some of his remarks, Subaru has serious issues with being perceived as worthless.
If I had to guess, this is probably related to some kind of persecution complex that shut-in otaku tend to have and how they are generally perceived by society.
So he's struggling to find his place in this new world, but he hasn’t moved past his preconceived knowledge of shitty isekai light novels enough to realize that the fate of the world does not rest on his shoulders.
So Subaru continues to believe his transference to this new land is a sign of his true destiny as this world’s savior.
Thus the main reason for Subaru’s frustration is that the characters in his life are going off-script and refusing to make everything revolve around him personally. Therefore they do not feed into his attention whoring, and this becomes perceived as a personal slight against him.

For me, it's probably this show.
I never expected it to have such a complete 180 sick grim dark fucking finale out of nowhere.
Complete suffering and despair and nothing else in sight in a span of a few episodes.
And that tear jerking scene at the end, what were they even thinking.
I was so sure that this will end well since it even had a Christmas special and all.
