What is your favorite monstergirl?
So far we got
>Sheep, Cat, Kitsune, Lamia, Mermaid, Harpy, and Centaurs, Alraune, Slime, Spider, Bipedal Scorpiongirls, Machines, Wolfgirls, Succubi, Squidgirls, Beegirls, Antgirls, Vampires and Cyclops/Monoeyes.
>>
>>46397511
You keep asking that.
And no one ever answers.

Why?
>>
So I know it's not really a civ, but what happened to that evo quest?

Sheepgirl civ will come tomorrow/late 2nite, was planning on today but I don't want to deal with the April Fools layout.
>>
>>46400438
That's why I'm not running my own civquest today
>>

Whatever choice wins I will do my best to make it as interesting and as fun as possible.

I have a vague plan/set up for each choice available, so don't get stressed if you think I have a bias or one will be better than the other.

Also holy shit over 40 votes.

I really want to run a game like this, but with my in-person RPG group

The problems are, I don't know what system to use, and I don't know if I can keep the macro part of running the civ going without having too many scenes with just their individual characters and interactions, and I don't have much experience with games of a civ scale.
Also, how well does the civ scale game translate to an in-person group, as opposed to threads and play-by-posts where it is otherwise always found?

Got any ideas for a space-themed/alien race chart? I like the idea of using different planets are your starting location, like: Desert, gas giant, volcanic, etc.

Maybe choices of different technology (magitech, biotech, realistic tech, etc) or choices of different types of governments. A space yeti republic is gonna be very different from a space yeti absolute monarchy after all

I'm interested in running a Guerilla warfare/Bandit Civ/Quest game.
I think it'd be fun to deal with recruiting named people at a bar, I'm also interested in the tactical bits too. Any advice/ideas/suggestions?
>>
>>46407034
That sounds more like either a skirmish quest, or a normal quest. The whole point of a civ is civilization after all.
>>
>>46407086
But it'd be about recruiting people and managing your squad. It'd follow a PC character, but it would still be revolve ultimately on getting and keeping a source of food and drink. And ultimately liberating our own plot of land someplace
>>
>>46407217
That still sounds like basically XCOM Quest, at least in terms of mechanics. Part of a civ is that we control the development of our civilization, and control just about everything, with dice rolls determining how they go.
>>
>>46407263
What's the mechanics for XCOM quest? I'm unaware of that concept

If you weren't there what I want to do is basically make some short civs with normal races such as crystallids, gnolls, what-have-you. Advance them to SPEESH and have a masters of orion kinda game going on from there.

I've got some stuff up in my head about everything but mostly i will just bullshit my way and have fun with you guys. Thanks for the support though, I really appreciate it! :)

Did you know that before I did civ quests I did a couple of one shot/little quests here and there with varying levels of success, but mostly disinterest?

Did you know that even before and during all of this I've always just been hanging around as a rando-Anon only ever posting bits or pieces in world building threads- sometimes even posting my own world building questions or even 'troll' posts?

There's TWO steps at being "good at something":

One is to understand what you did wrong and the next time you do it; do it a little better, a little differently, etc- small incrimental self aware changes are the bricks that will build your wall of skill. Jake the Dog said it once and it REALLY fucking hit home, but he's 100% right: "Sucking at something is the first step at being sort of good at something."

I forget the second step, but you also really need to learn to love and live the "Two Cakes" philosophy: Creative types often compare themsleves to 'fancy cakes' when they've made a shitty sagging biscuit, but 'uncreative types' just look at both things created and say, "Oh shit, two cakes!!!" and gobble them up.

Being good at being creative requires a lot of equal parts persistancy and self-awareness: You need to keep going when it's trudging through shit, but you also need to acknowledge ways to make your life easier, what you do right, what you do wrong, etc..

If this is Myrmidon though the only advice I can give you is you lack self awareness to the point where even though I've put my heart on my fucking sleeve here for you -while I'm running a busy civ- you'll still just brush this all off without thinking about what I'm saying and you do it to everyone. For almost 2 Years, Mrymidon. I graduated college in that time.

>>
>>46424657
>Okay what does Myrmidon do? I thought he was just a harmless shitposter, the kind that trolls a bit but hasn't flung shit so far

Myrmidon doesn't really do 'anything' offensive.
The Problem with Myrmidon is it's been a LOOOooong time and they make the same mistakes over and over again, but they don't understand what they're doing wrong and whether it be a quirk of personality or just plain ignorance they refuse to change or learn or anything.

So in a classic example of lacking any self-awarenesss- Myrmidon thinks everyone is just out to get them because no one recognizes their creativity.

And, like, this has been going on since I originally came out with my Cyclopes Civ- So we're talking almost 1.5 years ago and Myrmidon hasn't changed at all.

What "community" there is in this sub-genre is just really, really, tired of him, his ego, etc.

It's just all really exhausting and silly.

Is anyone else sad that Homonculus Civilization Quest has ended?

We never even got to go beyond the tower...
>>
>>46428427
I feel that Nations Game>Civ Game, as you are no longer fighting against other players for actions, and makes you really think against the other players. Real fun, I say we have a Civ, Evo and Nations Game General, to hopefully make them more popular (But not too much like Quests)

>>46428494

>>46428530
First part says implies working with the players, and then the second part goes back to saying you're fighting against the other players

>>

Nice, ill put together some ideas over the next couple days. I havent run a civ for a long time, so I need to work out how I'm doing this. I have a busy life so it'd probably wind up being a very simple system just to make it easier.
>>
>>46430006
The one with orcs. The one with humans fighting against rapey dwarves. The one with fauns.

I'm pretty new to this.
>>
What is the best time to start a civ thread? LIke when is peak activity of the board?
>>
>>46432376
obviously not now...
>>
>>46432548
It's when the Americans get back from work I think, soon about 5-6-7 ish BST
>>
>>46433375

So Snow, when do you think the troll guy's coming back?
>>
>>46433660

In the meantime:

>>46433793
>>
>>46432376

Someone should start one now.
>>
>>46435878
A little early. Might get NEETs and workers on break but that's about it.
>>
>>46436283
Or Europoors just lurking and hoping there'll be more civ games not ending until the early morning hours.

;_;
>>
>>46436283

Eh, it IS Sunday. Hit me up with some mole rat-folk or yetis potential OP!
>>
>>46436410
I know the feeling, bro.
>>
>>46436283
Now it is just right
>>
>>46438550
It is now but where's the civs besides the sheep one?
>>
>>46438847
If I wasnt at work in 10 hours, id run my spider one. That will need to wait until wednesday though.
>>
>>46439765
Aw, man.
>>
>>46434962
I'm pissed this thread died. But I guess it was semi off topic.
>>
Do you have to be a good writer to GM a civ? Annd is it worth it to write posts in antecessum?
>>
>>46442015
It's a bonus, but as long as your writing is legible and coherent you can go a long way. Not to mention it'll help you improve.

And no it's not. You'd be putting far more work into it than you'd get to show of.
>>
Are Civs dead again?
>>
>>46442811
Nopes. They're alive. Kind of hard to keep them alive with so little players.
>>
>>46442015
Come on anon, I'm jonesing hard here. I need my civ fix. Give it a shot.
>>
>>46442811

There are only three or four regular CMs, most others just see a civ thread and decide to do their own the following day. When the regular guys don't make threads, the casuals don't even remember civ threads are a thing and none pops up.

The best way to revive civ threads is always to run a few of them on the weekend, people will either like or hate your style and both things lead to them making their own threads over the week.
>>
>>46443007
The sheepgirl civ has just awoken from its slumber. I'll do mine next weekend. It's gonna suck so hard.
>>
>>46443069
I'd follow the sheepgirl, since there was talk about it in the general for a while. But eh, not a fan of the concept desu. What're you planning to run?
>>
>>46443069

Make it about naked mole-rat folk please.
>>
>>46443224
Orc raiding party. Not sure how to make it sound appealing.

My (vague) idea is that orcs used to be a scourge on all civilizations. As they grew, they assimilated other races and gained their strengths. (That's a whole genetic angle I'm working on.) They became a real danger to the great empires. So much so that the humans elves dwarves etc formed a great Alliance. And after a long, brutal war, drove them off to the ice lands. The elves, especially vicious, followed the orcs there and basically committed genocide.

So that's boring background. The actual civ game sees a small band of survivors fleeing the massacres. They arrive to an unknown land full of dangers and wary neighbors, to try and survive. They're scared, full of hatred against the Alliance. And they keep themselves warm with talk of rebuilding the great Horde of yore. Something like that.
Also they meet naked mole-rat folk.

You loveable shit, that reminds me of Warcraft.

Keep it up and I may explode from the awesome roleplaying.

So, what would you guys say is the cardinal sins, worst mistakes and most common mistakes you've encountered in civ's?
Mostly seeking mistakes commited by the DM's/CM's w/e you call them.
(Mostly interested in constructive critisism).

For example, something I've (luckily) not seen much of but I've seen is the player self inserts ala:
"Namefag Mary posts:
*An elf named Mary tries to make a magical explosion potion (rolls 1d20)*

and then the DM runs with it, cementing the Namefag Mary as canon in the worls.
>>
>>46443467
I would play this.
>>
>>46444055
abandoning the thread early
not being decisive when players votes are divided
getting bogged down in economics
>>
>>46444170
This, this, and this some more.

There is nothing wrong with that.

>>
>>46447450
I don't know enough about economics to make it a major factor in my games. I tried once. Didnt end well.
I'll stick to political intrige

Like what the Vampire civ QM is doing, he usually avoids the core economic parts for easier story telling. There's really no need to divulge into every little detail.

Only if more people do it.

Is it a good idea to run a civ on a Thursday?

Could a cyborg monkey civ work?
>>
>>46452046
Sure?

How would things work, though?

Are we a mad scientist bent on world domination, our cyborg monkeys bringing back regular monkeys for us to modify?
Are we rogue cyborg monkeys?
