The Orenz is a sliding sleeve mechanical pencil from Pentel of Japan. The whole gimmick of the Orenz is the sliding metal sleeve which protects the lead as you write so it doesn't break under heavy pressure. Initially, this pencil was only available in .2mm, a size that's very small and uncommon compared to the usual .5mm and .7mm found in the US. Since it's release it's come out in a variety of colors (white, blue, red, forest green, sky blue, pink, yellow, orange, and black) and sizes (.2mm, .3mm, .5mm, .7mm). There's also a rubber grip and metal grip version, but the one shown here is the .3mm white plastic version.

Build: The Orenz uses the usual nice Pentel plastic, therefore, it has a pretty good build. The plastic barrel doesn't feel as strong as something like the Pentel Graphgear 500 or Graph 600, but it still seems nice nonetheless. The clip looks thin but seems strong, I don't have much experience with clips so that's not saying much. The sleeve and eraser cap are metal, and the eraser cap is incompatible with the metal caps on other Pentel pencils. The inside uses mostly metal components, except for the barrel that holds the leads, which is plastic. My only gripe with this build is the end of the plastic body. There's a very thin section above the clip, and it has broken on my previous Orenz. I'm not sure how long it takes for it to break, or if it will break on this one, but it's something to note.

Writing: When you write with the Orenz, you want to have the lead flush with the metal sleeve. The metal sleeve is rounded, allowing you to still write. As the lead wears down, the metal sleeve slides with it, providing protection for the lead. When the lead wears down, you just press the top button to extend the lead and sleeve back to a good length. The writing experience is a little weird since there is friction from the metal sleeve. The tip is solid, with almost unnoticeable play. Something weird is how the clip is at the bottom when you hold the pencil with the letters in the correct orientation. Most other pencils have the clip at the top. The button to advance the lead feels somewhat light, but the audible click it makes is definite. The eraser is an average Pentel drafting eraser, hopefully, you have a separate eraser on hand. Unlike the .2mm version, it doesn't have a metal pipe jammed into the rear to clear the leads. I'm going to assume it's because the .3mm version doesn't jam as much as the .2mm version.

Overall: The Pentel Orenz is an interesting pencil that delivers on its promises of a sliding sleeve that helps reduce lead breakage while also having a nice build and neat aesthetic. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a smaller lead size but is afraid that they will frequently break the lead. For everyone else, it's still a rather nice pocketable pencil made for everyday writing.
Next I'm gonna try a Zebra DelGuard, which is another pencil that's supposed to prevent lead breakage but uses springs to relieve top and angled pressure.

Customs can absolutely open packages in Ireland. Everything from outside of the EU gets xrayed and if there's anything suspicious looking in there or something clearly off with the customs tag (like a $10 valuation on something with electronics in it) it will get held and probably opened. I don't know the laws about anime/loli imports but I wouldnt bother, they're pretty tough on some items.
A pro tip for Ireland is to get things sent to a Parcel Motel address, I get pills shipped from India to there as they're legal in the UK and have no problems getting imported but they would get destroyed instantly if they came direct to Ireland. Though they will reject anything that requires a customs payment.

I have the Kuru Toga. I can agree that the mechanism is fantastic, but I didn't like the weird grip section and the small inside barrel. I'm not sure if it's just me, but it only held one piece of lead, which is annoying since I'd have to replace it every few days. For general writing, it's pretty good, but I transitioned to .3mm lead so I rarely use it anymore. I know they sell a .3mm version in Japan and it's currently on my wish list. I'm definitely gonna give it another go, not sure when, though.
