Hey guys, Taobao fag here.

In case you haven't been following I've been posting about my experience buying from Taobao for the first time, and using Taobao's own freight forwarder. Hopefully you guys have found some of the info in the past useful. At some point in the future I may do a PasteBin/Imgur guide.

Anyway, today I received my package; pic related.

Everything that was still in the vendors' packaging is well packed. It seems that Taobao removed some of the bulkier items from their packaging, which is a double edged sword; cheaper on shipping but more likely to break shit. Luckily, no broken shit for me.

Everything I bought feels quite well made, with the exception of the fan dampers - they feel like they're made from really cheap recycled rubber.

Overall experience:
>Signup - 2/10. Get it right first time, or spend ages fixing it all up.
>Purchasing - 8/10. Once you get the hang of it it's pretty easy; with some products it's not clear whether they'll ship to Taobao's forwarder or not. Key thing to look for is "official cargo" under shipping details (next to item picture)
>Shipping (Domestic) - 9/10. Ordered everything Friday night, nearly all the packages hit the warehouse by Sunday. Impressive. The last package, one of the radiators, got stuck in Beijing for 4 days before it moved on to the warehouse.
>Forwarding - 8/10. Easy as shit to approve the forwarding, and the "domestic station" (DPEX) option was fast. Dislike; removing original packaging, although apparently they don't do that with 4PX.
>Goods - 9/10. So far everything looks good, although I'll properly poke around them on Thursday after my exam.

Overall I'd recommend it if you're interested in getting a lot of obscure shit and would rather save on shipping and avoid the Westener price gouging on Ali.

Copper + nickel DDC top. Looked nice, decent price, and I figured that it might help disburse some of the pump driver heat through the actual water. Not sure why it hasn't been done by Western firms.

Haha, fuck no. I am Aussie though. I laughed my ass off when I saw that thing.

There are a lot of sellers on Taobao that support international shipping. Taobao freight forwarding only supports APAC countries (Aus, NZ, HK, SG, etc), US and Canada IIRC.

The most interesting purchase of the lot; Nidec Servo Gentle Typhoons. You might not consider this interesting...until I tell you they're the 2150RPM PWM models.

Apparently they were only available in this config through special order; when Scythe was selling them they never sold these models and the only Western vendor that has shown any interest in getting them is DazMode.

I don't have my old Scythe GTs in front of me, but the frame is the same design but feels a little cheaper. The fan assembly itself looks genuine and the fan spins as a GT should...flick the fan with your finger and get bored waiting for it to stop spinning.

Pretty chuffed with these.

Anyway that's it for now, feel free to ask questions and I'll keep an eye out on /csg/ and answer to the best of my ability. Feel free to call me a faggot for buying bulk cheap Chink shit too.

>>54335996

I have a screenshot of where to check if they'll ship internationally, but it's on my laptop. I'll post it in a few hours when I'm in front of it.
>>
>>54336054
Do you speak Mandarin or did you use a translation service? How much was the shipping?
>>
>>54336095

Nope, used Google Translate the whole way through. There is a GreaseMonkey plugin that translates a lot of the static menu options, but it needs work:

http://userscripts-mirror.org/scripts/show/270227

As for how much the shipping was:

Domestic shipping to the warehouse: 70.8 CNY (all express), $14.38 AUD
Shipping from warehouse to Aus: 319.00 CNY (DPEX/Toll), $64.79 AUD

Considering that:
>Shipping on Aliexpress is ~$30AUD for a single item on TNT/DHL/etc
>The 319 CNY included consolidation for 6KG worth of items

A pretty good deal in my opinion; of course, if you chose China post it'd be cheaper but take months.
>>
>>54336095
Not him, but you get to choose what type of shipping you want with the forwarder. Honestly the /cgl/ thread has a lot of really good info if you want to purchase stuff from taobao.

Don't know how they work, I'm used to use websites that usually tell you how long they estimate it will take to restock.

Reposting my quick flashlight test from last thread:

For note I used "Night scenery"/"low ISO or something" mode for better video compression, so you are able to see better on real life than on video.

0) Phone's flash, can't see on video so I cut that part away
1) Ultrafire UK - 68 with 14500 battery, starting with low setting, then strobe and last high.
2) UltraFire Cree XML T6 with 18650 battery, At firsth high mode, then medium and so on
3) 160 Led video light with blue noname AA batteries

Conclusion: pretty much any 18650/14500 flashlight does job (compared to AA/AAA ones) if you want say on lowend.

Yes, highly recommended you use Chrom(e)/(ium) to browse and order from Taobao.

AFAIK it's the only browser to include an auto-translation tool, whether stock or add-ins. Trust me, you don't want to be constantly selecting shit to be able to translate it.

One caveat, however; the translation feature may mangle some text inputs. For example, during the sign-up process Taobao will fail to accept your mobile number if the page has been translated. It needs to be displayed in Chinese for it to work (assuming you are using the Chinese language signup, there is an English one)

The guy on audiobudget and me both don't really like the highs on the ED9, it has a big treble spike in the 6-8k region which drives me fuckin nuts. Depending on personal preference you may either call this "detailed" or "harsh".

The ATE-S has memory wire that wraps around your ear, these things are very very good at staying put even if you pull on the cord a bit. They have rolled-off treble generally, and a big notch around 8k which is my preferred sound signature. Again, depending on personal preference this either makes them "dark" or "warm".

ATE are sold with pic related, which snaps onto the wire and makes them fit better. Well it's also made in that shitty kind of plastic that smells really hard and which I'm not confident about putting against my skin, so I'm not using those.

Still, they fit into my ears and hold just fine with the wire around my ear, even when running. But then it's quite dependant on each ear.

Don't forget exchange rates; losing 25% of your money every time you buy something in USD isn't fun.

Just hypothesizing, but I think one of the reasons why GayBeast/Aliexpress etc is more expensive than Taobao is because they peg the prices against the USD.

Probably worth noting that the forwarding option is available to the US and Canada as well. Eurocucks miss out on forwarding, but can still purchase from sellers that do ship internationally though.

>>54336054
>>54335878

I've compared the Taobao Gentle Typhoons against genuine ones; if they're fake then they're bloody good ones because I can't tell the difference. Might pull one apart and have a look/take some pics this weekend.

gearbest has postNL stuff though.

>Don't forget exchange rates; losing 25% of your money every time you buy something in USD isn't fun.
I get more money back on refund disputes than I spent because of he USD exchange rate every time.
Like, I get a rate that implies that the USD is more valuable than the euro. (it's not)

Question: I got the UK-68 and have some EBL 2300mAh 1.6V, the 14500 batteries operate at +3. something volts, but the specifications of the torch say it works under 1.2-4.6V, not very savvy on this area but do I expect it would work yet producing much lower lumens intensites?
Can't find some guide comparing this stuff.

So can someone tell me what the deal with Xiaomi phones is? They seem to have everything a $500+ phone has, for a fraction of the price. I hear their build quality is good too, so how the fuck?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OaoUxnwIZWA
>>
>>54339581

Pretty much this >>54339599 but remember that the buying power of the Chinese and Indian markets has historically been low, but it's growing.

No point in making phones that the target market won't buy as they're too expensive.

On that note, the Mi5 now exists; might say something about where their buying power is going
>>
>>54339581
Not really, basically in a very simplified way if you have a product that costs A, you always want A + X. The amount of X is bound to how "greedy" you are, and the cost of A is bound to things like marketing, development cost, production cost, and so on.
That's the root of it, although it's more complex in real examples.
>>
>>54339366

Can't confirm but the 14500 should put out much more light as it's a high amperage battery.

Just a FYI with the lithium ion batteries - 3.7v is their nominal voltage (middle), meaning that fully charged they will be 4.2v and deplete until they're dead (3.1v, although with vdroop it's more like 3.3v)

Make sure you get yourself a good charger as you don't want Li-Ions blowing up.

>>

>>54339698
Well, makes sense. I was reading some guides and one said that certain lights if you work under the operating voltage range they don't have a drop in brightness but others do (depends if they are battery driven or have a driver, some kind of internal capacitor I'm guessing) but this one in particular I have not clue about what it does, I'll guess I'll try with the EBL first, if the brightness if good enough I'll roll with it else I'll buy the 14500 rechargeable.
The EBL came with a smartcharging bay for the 8 batteries so I will check specifications but maybe I'll be enough.
>>
>>54339723
interesting.
Apparently the Pistons i'm reviewing are the 2nd gen ones (the newest) as they've got a different volume rocker on the cable

>>54339765

You'll find that the ones that don't change brightness have a buck/boost chip inside the flashlight that regulates the voltage - whether it's a drop in, part of the driver board, or whether it's to 3.7v or to 4.2v I don't know.

Li-ion batteries will last longer and be brighter but you're also stuffed if you're out and about and don't have a spare cell or charger on you. With A series batteries you can get them anywhere, so it's a tradeoff. At least you can use both.

The Mi Band is not particularly good for /fit/ anyway. It's sleep tracker/pedometer that's also a vibrator. Seeing as it's waterproof, a lot of people here use them as their vibrators.

>>
How long does stuff usually take on gearbest to get shipped out?
>>
>>54341124
yes 4 is possible. that's why I said there's not enough information. cut 2 watermelons in half and throw away two of those halves. then take the remaining two watermelon halves and stick them together- tada you have one watermelon. in the bait image OP could be asking how many complete watermelons there are (at least 4) or he could mean how many discrete watermelons have been used to form the image (up to eight). Depending on how you approach the problem you could get 4, 5, 6, 7 or 8 watermelons. That's what makes this bait

your rigid, noncritical thinking is why these bait images flourish

there is not enough information, making the correct answer "kill yourself"

Nothing cheaper can play 10bit. KEEP IN MIND fancy subtitles also need the cpu, which is part of the reason most arm cpu can't play those files.

How about these x86 Atom boxes?
>>
>>54341218
each in the middle can slot into each corner melon

that's 4
>>
>>54341487
it's not a sum

there are half melons there, not quarters, so you need more melons
>>
>>54341487
only 2 halves can but there are 4

lrn2math
>>
>>54341502
how do you know they are half melons

Gayyyyy
>>
>>54341481
My Teclast X98 can play 10bit anime flawlessly, and it has an Atom CPU, so I assume that it'd be the same for the boxes.

I just ordered a KongFeng GB Boy colour. I want to use it to play my my English Pokemon Green cart.

How'd I do /g/?

I've already purchased a famiclone.

Buy an old dual core (core duo, pentium dual core or similar) laptop from ebay for $10-$50.
connect to tv using hdmi/dvi/whathaveyou, install linux (e.g. plex distro)

voilà: u don't need a new battery as it's stationary, 2 sata ports most of the time (one for HDD/SSD, one for CD/DVD drive), several USB ports, oftentimes an ethernet port, wifi built in.

consider it. most laptops are also pretty silent computers, so well fitted for shit like that.

So now that Atom is finished, what will Chinese manufacturers fill their tablets and 2-in-1s with? Mediatek won't work for Windows and Core M will be a huge price jump.
>>
>>54341579
actually you can very clearly see that the parts in the middle can't be the cut out quarters, since the stripes would be going from top to bottom then
>>
when will we be able to buy gfs from gearbest and alixpress
>>
>>54341552
Hardware clone or emulation?
>>
>>54341612
not cut from the watermelon, a seperate watermelon cut into quarters, silly.

3/4's melon + 1/4 melon = 1 melon.

but if the middle sections are halves then at a minimum you now have 5 melons instead of 4 (or 6 melons, or 7 or eight)

which chink meme IEM do you prefer?

Or just IEMs in general from those you enjoy the most to the least. I've listened to a lot of IEMs over the years, although not Chinese, so I'm sure you can provide some basis for comparison by comparing them to common non-chink IEMs.

Just got the XiaoMi XL mouse pad. It's pretty comfy.
>>
>>54341645
that would be 4 + 1 then
there's no detectable seam on any of the corner melons
>>
Is there any good chink PC controllers?
>>
>>54340229
Oh sorry got the name confused Ilife v5 and v7

what
>>

Nothing he's just shitposting

>my mom pays the electricity bill ahahahah

those boxes consume like 1/20th of a laptop senpai
>>
>>54341713
What does it say? Semen?
>>
>>54341747
the corner melons could be made out 3 melons by making the fourth out of the cut out quarters but since there's no seam that isn't the case and 4 melons had to be used.

Spectacular.
>>
>>54341794
okay, so what? you're going off on a weird tangent
>>
>>54341812
nothing, just that you still need at least 5 melons
>>
>>54341777
So you have got a TV screen that consumes 300 watts and you complain about saving 5 watts?
Most laptops consume from 2-50 watts, that's like nothing, less than a lightbulb.

Get your relations right, anon.

I think it says "Thanks for buying our shit."

>Sincere time
In English, it says "All my longing" or "All my yearning"
>>
>>54341839
6* sorry
>>
>>54341839
which is what i said, since the middle melons are halves

6 7 or 8 melons is also an acceptable answer
>>
>>54341415
get something with a S905 cpu. It does h265 and 10 bit
>>
>>54341852
don't correct me

>>54341861
because a guy claimed you could make it out of 4, if the middle parts were quarters?
>>
>>54341883
yeah, that was me. because 3 quarters of a melon + a quarter of another melon is still one melon.

>inb4 no
>inb4 if i say im bringing 4 watermelons to a party but only bring 4 saran wrapped quarters from the market somehow that's 4 melons

there is a difference when counting by individual melons used and total melonflesh in play
