Moto E isn't half bad. Motorola has finally got back on their A-game (stock android, emphasis on unlocked devices).
I'm using the 2nd gen one and aside from the camera not having flash and some stutters here and there it's pretty good. Then again aside from the basic call/email/text I only use my phone for weather, occasional music, and Skype.
If you need something a little tougher or stronger, go with the Moto G 2015. It's $40 more than the Moto E, but the difference is worth it. I assume you're on a budget otherwise you wouldn't be asking about a low-end device like the E

Hey, searching for a phone, and have narrowed it down to 3 choices basically, the Moto E, Moto G and Zenfone 2 Laser. I plan to keep it for at least 3 years. My usage consists of music playback, social media and shitposting. I think the Moto E won't last me for the 3 years, so I'm temptes to go to the G, despite a nearly 100€ difference
Why do people from the U.S. recommend Xiaomi? There are few phones that work with our LTE bands from Xiaomi, and not a single that works on the AT&T LTE bands.
I always had mid-rage Androids and performance never impressed me. The only time I spent real money on a phone was on an iPhone 5 a long time ago and it really impressed me how fast it was.

Good Android phones, like the LG G series or Samsung's Galaxy phones or a Sony Xperia or the HTC One or a Moto X and on and on, are fantastic phones. There's no question that performance equals or exceeds any given iPhone. The only difference is the OS and the ecosystem.
They make Androids with 6 gigs of RAM and ten core processors. The phone I'm typing this on is two years old and has a quad HD display. Yes, performance wise, there are Androids that can compete with iPhone. There always have been.
Those budget phones are what give Android a bad name.

Motorola's recent stuff is a notable exception, and others like HTC and Sony are bringing a lot more to the unlocked game now that it's the hot ticket.

Anything above 1080p on mobile is a meme. Visibly most people cannot tell the difference above 1080p, so the higher res it ends up doing is washing out colors and draining battery. Think back to the LG G3.
