Yami Shibai. Yami Shibai is the most /x/ thing there can fuckin be. It's just really short episodes, with a somewhat rough animation, telling traditional Japanese /x/ stories. It's amazing.

Also, I remember watching a short anime, really really gory, there was this girl, I think they were in an aircraft carrier, at some point, and she just sort of mutates into this blob of meaty monster shit? Anyone knows what it is? Because that was definitely /x/.

Only memories part 1 should be listed, as the other 2 are completely non-/x/ separate materials. This way, it could be in tier 1.
Also, Yami Shibai seasons 2-3 were more hilarious than anything else, so that could warrant their own place in tier 2 in my opinion.

Full Metal Alchemist is about America
The transmutation circle that encircles "Amestris" is very similar to the inverted pentagram built into the streets of Washington D.C.
And the Humonculi are very similar to the lizards who used to be human, but sold soul for magical powers, wishes, etc.
Just like in the anime, the lizards constantly feed off the living and generate chaos and conflicts to remain hidden
They have to take counsel in themselves to devise evil constantly, just to gather enough energy to be barely living and remain on earth and out of Hell.

'Another' you can watch it on Crunchyroll and there's only 12 episodes.

The main character is a transfer student. He quickly notices that everyone in class refuses to acknowledge the existence of a creepy girl who sits in the back of the class...

It's pretty gruesome at times, but you'll be thoroughly engaged. No character is safe and the mystery of what's going on slowly unravels.

Mononoke is really good if you like something based on traditional Japanese ghost stories. I really liked the tone of the writing and the artistic direction of the visuals. Absolutely one of my favorites.
It's a spin-off of the "Bakeneko" arc of Ayakashi: Samurai Horror Tales," so start there and then move to "Mononoke." Don't worry about the rest of Ayakashi, it's not particularly noteworthy.

The Monogatari series is good if you can get past all of the loli. It's not really that bad in Bakemonogatari, but it's a little more in your face as you go along. I don't suggest watching it in chronological order, but rather in release order.

Yea it's definitely westernized because it didn't come from Japan and Peter Chung is Korean. But OP asked for anime, not magna, anime being slang for animation so the show imo falls under that category.

Besides it's a really well done show and more people need to watch it.

No. It gets really nonsensical real fast. Plot points introduced are forgotten, characters acting like psychopaths for seemingly no reason, no clear overarching arc for any of the characters. It's a trainwreck of manga.

why's Kaiba on the list? it's not /x/ at all, there's nothing really paranormal in it.
>>

Same reason Eva's on there. Besides, the nature of memories and the soul is very /x/. The paranormal is a pretty broad umbrella.

It's more action/fantasy than anything truly /x/ related imo. The real problem with trying to decide whether anything is paranormal or not is where to draw the line between fantasy and paranormal itself, but in this case, the line is pretty distinct.

Mushi-shi

Anime about some wanderer who has these encounters and hears stories about little spirit creatures called Mushi. He is this Mushi master and he deals with human/Mushi relations basically. Very good anime. And very /x/ related.

Definitely for people who don't like loud little bitches bounce their boobies around and become super human.

>Definitely for people who don't like loud little bitches bounce their boobies around and become super human.
That is actually a pretty small subset of anime. Also, how was s2 of Mushishi? I haven't gotten around to watching it yet.

>>17571045
This joke was never funny.

>>17571005
I guess that Dio was a pretty standard monster in part 1, and the idea of the corpse of Christ giving people super powers isn't that far outside of /x/, but I would hesitate to categorize the whole thing as /x/phile material.
>>
>>17571095
By the way, the boat is supposed to be Shakuna Vimana, one of the few things in the movie I hadn't actually heard of before watching it.
>>
>>17571095
Haven't watched it yet. I'm patiently waiting to see if it will be dubbed. If there's no announcement by 2017, I'm watching it and the movie subbed.

Subs take away a lot of the emotion involved. I mean, I have to look down all the time to get what they're saying so I miss expressions and movements in the face and body. Every time I watch sub then dub, I don't feel as excited. Know what I mean?
>>
>>17571146
Not really. It doesn't take that long to read subtitles for me, I've really never had that problem. In fact, it's usually the opposite. A lot of the time, the dub VAs are sound like random people pulled off the street. It's partly because voice acting in English is a joke compared to Japan where it's actually taken seriously, though. That and Japanese voice actors tend to be way over the top, conveying emotion by inflection and tone of voice, which is pretty universal, imo.
>>
>>17556298
>No Berserk.
>>
>>17571163
Berserk is very specifically not on that chart because no one watched the 90s anime and the movies are utter garbage. Maybe when someone finally makes a manga version.

>>17569776
I watched Aoi Bungaku and it's basically a bundle of different anime but I found the only real /x/ related anime would be No Longer Human, and even then that's more dealing with mental illness which arguably isn't /x/ related
>>
>>17571206
Given how many schizos and crazies are on this board, I'd say it's pretty /x/ related. Also, crazies are traditionally considered "closer" to the other side due to the unhinged nature of their delusions. It's why you get so much crazy shit going down in insane asylums, and also keep in mind that the very idea of possession stemmed from being mentally ill.
>>
>>17571155
Eh. Guess I'm just a slow reader. Yeah, the voice acting is way better. Just wish I knew Japanese. It takes me awhile to read the text compared to the actions. Like with fast paced anime. I can't keep up with gestures, movements, and such. I want to understand everything and I have to pause every so often.

Mushishi should be slower though. I'm thinking about starting it soon, it should be worth it.

I feel bad because that means you can't enjoy the Tatami Galaxy or the *Monogatari series in the original language. Though I'm sure there are ways to improve your reading speed, maybe you should look into them.

>>17571233
Mushishi Zoku Shou* should be worth it.

All of which are an excuse to have hyperviolent gore everywhere. Hellsing is one of those anime that only has a plot as an excuse for action scenes. And I love every minute of it. Also, it's on the chart.
>>
>>17571238
Hmm yeah, definitely.

The worst part that gets me is when people are talking and a sign or explanation pops up above or where ever lol then it's impossible to read both at once.
>>
>>17571246
That's what the pause button is for. I found myself pausing the Tatami Galaxy a lot because the narrator talked so fast, but I got used to it after a couple of episodes. Definitely a great series, but not really /x/ besides the time loop.
>>
>>17571241
It's not just hyperviolent gore. It also has hyperviolent rape. And moar dakka. And the plot is not just an excuse, the overall plot is really damn good, and the characters are all great (except Walter, fuck him)

I would say recommend the Science Adventure series, but the only good anime adaption any of the entries had was Steins;Gate and they cut off a lot of stuff in there like it's relation to the rest of the series

So an /x/ approved VISUAL NOVEL series here would be Science Adventure starting from Chaos;Head
treat the series more like science fantasy more than science fiction though, Chaos;Head especially
>>
>>17564194
What was wrong with season 2?
>>
>>17573558
Steins;Gate didn't really leave out that much compared to the VN, it actually handled the multiple routes pretty well. They cut out the entire Nae thing for pretty obvious reasons. Also Chaos;Head is the most /x/ of all the SciAdv series, shame the anime is such garbage.

The anime is mostly latex tits and ultraviolence. And that's what the manga is to start with, but that's ground work. It goes on to develop the main character a great deal, as he slowly and believably improves as a human being.

I found it a refreshing alternative to the more typical arrangement of starting with an unflaggingly heroic hero who confronts increasing challenges and conquers them by willing himself to becoming more badass.
