Hey /x/ I don't usually go to this board so I don't know if this is the place to ask but I recently helped my Catholic Mother redo her bathroom and she always had this cross (pic is cross) hanging from the light fixture and I remember seeing that it looked a little different from most crosses (i.e. The slant on the top of the cross and the words written on it) since we were remodeling we had to take it down and I wanted to find out where it came from and why it has the slant, so would you guys help me out by identifying it?
wording seems to be "nueva" = "new" (i think)
maybe it is broken? wooden crosses usually do split somewhere, but mainly along the grain.
Perhaps a part of it chipped off the top, and more was removed to make it neater?

Found the book in hardcover in grandfather's shelf. Really interesting pov. States many differences and based ideas in diversity and danger of majority. Egland Foreigner perspective traveling through America in 1800's. I think around 1830.
What influence and inspiration can the occult have on artists and their work?
Is it a mental thing? Will help me work more intelligently?
Will it give me visual inspiration? Are vision real and memorable? Are they worth illustrating for others to see?
What kind of things would an artist gain from it?
I'm a big fan of H.R. Giger, however I have only the vaguest of understandings of his involvement in the occult.
I find his work to be beautiful, with vivid imagery and intricate design that seems almost primordial.
As an artist currently in a slump lacking inspiration what could I gain from the occult?

Hello /x/, your old friend /tg/ here. I'm coming for advice. Picture only marginally related.
I've come to know this guy at work who's brilliant to the point of quirky. We work in a corporate setting, but he's great at his job so he gets away with it.
Over the past year, he's talked more and more to me, covering philosophy, occult, ritual, and psychology. He's honestly changed my life by showing me my faults and strengths in a Socratic way.
Here's why I'm here. He's invited me to come to one of his meetings. They are a cult, but not in a hurry durr spoopy Satan stuff. I'm interested and it seems like what I need right now, but I'm not really into the occult so much as the tangibly related topics like philosophy and psychology. Should I go? Should I pass?

Understand that almost all cults have wonderfully life changing messages that can improve your life at first but then devolve into controlling and limiting behavior as you get more invested in the group, and more loyalty and conformity of thought is expected.

Unfortunately, we cant really discuss it openly at work, but cult is his word. It's social group for magickal work and ritual, like a secular replacement for church as I see it. A community.

Definitely friends, not a recruitment. We talked about many things until he caught wind that I was a philosophy major before quitting that. From there it changed to occult, how belief isn't really the point, great thinks like Heidegger and Hegel , etc.
4) What has he helped improve in your life and why were you not able to do this before his philosophy was introduced to you?
More like a home coming back to these sort of conversations and honest self evaluation. I had poured a lot of effort into world building which I wanted to publish but never use myself. He rightly pointed out that this noncommittal and controlling like cult leaders tend to do and encouraged me to be more engaged with life. Be more directly involved.

People say that you have to conquer fear to be successful in life. How can you conquer something that does not exist? Fear is not real. Fear is an illusion you subconsciously create in your mind. Once you have freed your mind, only then will you realise that fear only exists when you create it. Once you expel that illusion from your mind, you will know true peace. When I was younger I feared death, I trembled at the thought of the unknown. I created that fear of death subconsciously because I did not know it, I could not comprehend it, people always fear the unknown. You have to overcome your own subconscious ego to be able to control your mind. Death is a very controversial subject, some fear it, some embrace it. I for one, have made peace with it. I do not fear death. After trying to commit suicide once and thought of trying to again twice afterwards, I really do not see the big fuss around death anymore. Being so close to death, has taught me to not fear it. My past emotions and problems have brought me peace and the ability to control my mind and have taught me a lot about life. When I think about the afterlife, I am still arguing with myself in my head, I cannot decide what I think will happen. The possibilities are literally fucking endless. Do we disappear into nothingness? Do we walk to a paradise that we think of as perfect to our every opinion? Do we become next-dimensional beings? Do we become the stars, the gods of the universe? Do we become pure spiritual energy that is divided into every single photon in the universe that is everything and flows through everything? What happens to our souls? Do we have souls? What is a soul? I still cannot decide... .. What is reality? How would you know if your reality is the same experience as someone else’s? Someone else’s reality could feel, look and be completely different from yours and you wouldn’t even know, because people are too fucking closed minded. 1/2

Why is our only certainty in life, to die someday? Why was humanity placed here, what did they, or it, decide to place us in this universe, what did they hope to achieve?

I have been trying to astral project for about two years now, with only moderate consistency. Usually I only get to a certain vibration stage but cant complete it. Recently during an attempt, I began feeling a sensation of being lifted out of my body, which lasted for a few seconds, and I definitely knew something was different, but nothing came of it.
How do you go from this initial "lifting out of your body" to actually completing projection? I only get different sensations, but visually nothing ever happens.
What am I missing? Any similar difficulties?
