My first attempt at ricing. It's pretty amateurish and simple but I don't think it's too bad. Right now I'm trying to figure out how to make a sidebar for weather and news notifications. Any advice and suggestions would be appreciated.

Yea, I'm trying to find a good widget for my music player so it matches with everything else, instead of changing all my fonts to match the music player. If worse comes to worst I'll try to make my own but I'm still figuring out Kustom.

There is no dock. I used klwp and made an overlap group for the bottom bar, and added a shadow at the top. All of the text like the battery, weather, and music stuff is separate and I set it to scroll on page change.
As for the folder that pops up it's another bar placed behind the bottom dock bar.
All I did to get it to pop out was set a touch command for the arrow to toggle a global switch, and then for the back/app bar I made it so it scrolls up on that global switch.

For the music widget there's not much you have to "code" really.
All you really have to do is set 3 images or fonticons, and then change the touch function for each one to previous, play/pause, and next song.
You could also add an image/shape and fill it in with the album art if you wanted.

Lol, not sure if that's a good or bad comment. I haven't tested it, but I can always get at the very least a solid day out of it with charge leftover. I have an LG G4. Your rice is looking good, btw. You can stick with it and be happy. That layout will work well with lots of papes too.

i think your icons would be better if they had a color that went better with the background, and if they were a little less detailed. i like the pictures, but they're so small i can't really tell what they are. maybe try drawing the pictures, using thicker lines / less lines might help. i like the hexagons tho!!

The dotted bar is a battery bar that I made in Zooper (as part of the clock widget), I enjoy it because it indicates charging state and level of charge at a glance (also it has several different possible colours)
How should I fix this?

Center the battery bar, so that it appears to drain from both ends. Either use two bars to do it, or make one that moves to the right as it drains such that it always stays in the middle. Also, remove the white bar behind it as it doesn't look very good.
You might also want to center the music player too, but it might turn out worse depending on how you do it.

I usually don't use groups, so I would set the X position to formula and use this for a bar with a length of 300:
$(300-3*bi(level))/2$
I bet you can repurpose this code to work your bar. Just change the 300 and the 3 to fit your bar's length.

Photoshop the icons onto the shape you want them in and then package them as an icon pack. I've done it before and its a massive pain. Plus you are still limited by the grid size of your launcher so it is fairly inaccurate and most KLWP animations will look extremely bad with the launcher animations

If you're just making shit like clocks and weather widgets with backgrounds it's extremely easy. Most of the parameters are pretty straight forward to fuck around with and you don't have to do anything fancy to make your homescreen look clean. You can also import with most of the popular custom widget apps and just copy someone else

I used Llama and tied everything to the cell towers, but it's highly inaccurate.
Leaving gps on will eat too much power and I'm trying to save battery.
Tying "home" to "wifi network active" won't make sense since the phone can't check it if wifi is off.

i coded the widget myself using kwgt, the code is

you can adjust it to you liking (adding year, etc...)
the clock itself came with LNAG for KGWT on the play store but doing it yourself is easy enough and can help better your understanding to make more complicated things, just add the hour and minutes, and use a rectangle as the slash to separate.
