Made this in multiplayer, I don't have time or energy to finish it before the server rotates to the next map. I might upload it to new element and get some feedback, my autism is getting stronger every day.

100% honest question, do you all have autism or some form of aspergers?

Assburgers here, diagnosed when I was 6 and again at 16 just to be sure.
>>3034024
No, why?
>>3034024
Asperger's and OCPD
In the /v/pack there's a scenario that is just called "A mountain with water and trees" but when you start the scenario the park itself is called "Echoing Woods". I was thinking the scenario should be renamed to the park name so it's more memorable and less generic sounding.
>>3034024

>>3034769

>>3034305
Can do. Also, there's an unfinished scenario in there I discovered as a landscape file called Rift. I have no idea if it was made by anyone here or if it's some random file accidentally added by the original uploader. It's too pretty to just delete, so if anyone wants to finish it, by all means.
I've cleared out the unrelated scenarios from the pack, as well as some tracks made by Fossil that shouldn't be in there, but I'm not sure if there are any more in there that weren't made by anons. There's a cluster of them in there that were made in 2009. Was there even an RCT general on 4chan during that time?
>>3034826
"Pine Tree Rag" and "Donut Dunes" wouldn't load for me, they're missing objects.
"From Small Beginnings" looks like it was designed to be impossible.
"Atomik's Contest #1" and "Highrise Freebuild" appear to be sandbox style maps.
Everything else I had made note of has been addressed.
>>3034840
Wait I think I got "From Small Beginnings" mixed up with another one. I'm giving it a try to see what I can do.
Wouldn't it be much easier to let the /v/ pack be and create new /vr/ pack?
>>3034840
Ah, Donut Dunes has those Amazing Earl rides as well that don't save properly. I wish people would stop using those things in their scenarios. They're not even that good looking. Should probably just remove that file from the OP since they cause so many problems.
I'm not sure if I want to delete Pine Tree Rag yet, just in case someone comes along with the missing files.
Not sure if I want to get rid of those sandbox parks because I'm pretty sure they were made by someone here. But if no one objects, I suppose I could remove them since they're just boring flatlands. Atomik's Contest has buttloads of custom scenery.
>>3034857
Pretty sure Tycoon Test was the one that was almost impossible
>>3034898
No fug you
>>3034898
Well I think it's possible, I made it to 800 guests by October Year 1 so it should be possible to make 1600 Guests by October Year 2. It requires that you stack your rides to pull it off though since the land is expensive and not very abundant anyway.

Finally finished Forest frontiers, really like doing small parks, here it is.

What's the max I can jack the park entry price up to? I have it at $55 right now with like 5 coasters on Gravity Gardens and I just want to know if there's a limit on the entry price before guests start not paying to get into the park (if that is even a thing that can happen. I've never seen a guest not enter a park)
>>3036006
Guests will always enter the park no matter what price it is, assuming they have the funds available. The way it works is if your park entry price is too high, then guests will stop spawning.

You're probably better off playing it using OpenRCT2 instead of the original .exe, RCT1 and 2 both do all sorts of weird shit on modern OSes even when fully patched
>>3037371
They're quite different games but I find it kinda hard to imagine someone *couldn't* like RCT.
TTD and RCT have a very similar game engine but the games play almost nothing alike. If you like the pixel art of the original TTD graphics you'll probably like RCT's graphics as well at least.
>>3037371
same level of comfy, but completely different games.
Rather than worrying about cargo efficiency and removing slowdowns from your mainline etc the biggest concerns in rct is jewing as much as you can from a single ride.
If you are the sort of OTTD player who takes their time and tries to get a self sufficient map-covering empire going, then you'll probably enjoy the business sim side of rct.
If you are the sort of OTTD player who uses combo prios, feeder lines, 8 way mainline/sidlines with fully efficient no slowdown hubs, and tries to make crazy junctions and unique transportation systems, you'll definitely enjoy the challenge RCT can offer (especially with custom content), and you'd probably really love the multiplayer in openRCT
If you are the sort of OTTD player who uses realistic train physics, starts his game at 1830, uses trams, industry replacement mods and realistic train progression sets, you probably have the sort of autism needed to make amazing, hyper realistic theme parks and rides using custom objects and game hacking to get the most out of the engine.
RCT's ride rating system means you can make stupidly unrealistic parks and rides if you want, or you can take your time and make something right out of a Six Flags park or your wildest imagination, and either way what you make will be functional in-game , be able to turn a profit, and will help you complete whatever the scenario objective is . Whether you spam path signals and use two way simple train lines with a terminus station at each end, or use block and pre signals to allow maximum efficiency on your fancy prioritised ro-ro with waiting bays and overflow escapes, you can still enjoy RCT
Just a little tidbit of my Gravity Gardens since the thread is going slow.
>>3038164
That loop coming out of the gardens looks great, but I'm not a fan of the long bit of unsupported track.
>>3038169
Yeah, I'm not either. I really wish a support would connect with the roof top or something so it doesn't look like it's floating. It irks me, but not enough to not put a building and rainbow flowers under it.
>>3038180
flowers and base blocks do not block supports, in case you were wondering. that roof can support the ride, but it must be flat (you could add fences for decoration to make it less boring I guess)
>>3038265
I feel like it could use some more decoration near the first big drop, but other than that, fucking beautiful.
Is there any way to randomly generate scenarios?
I'm too lazy to place my own and suffer a paradox of choice when offered user-created ones.
I want a map that isn't default or blank
>>3038409
OpenRCT has a terrain generator. Everything else you still have to do though.
>>3037371
Probably..

>>3038817
This man has ridden 657 different rollercoasters. God bless him.
>>3038817
He might not like OpenRCT2 then because I'm sure once the entire game is reversed a port to android wont be too far off. At least for now the game is done purely as a hobby and is FOSS that requires the original game.
>>3038817
So Chris has all the rights to the RCT series and Atari simply has a license to create and market new games under the name. Chris really lucked out getting everything but Atari needs to quit releasing shovelware.

Also, more balloons, got it.
I started making a new map, you start with a big coaster and have to get a bunch of peeps, i guess.
Is it possible to move the park entrance once you've actually started it? Is that an openrct thing, i'm still using the default version.
>>3039434
Yes you can, but only with OpenRCT. Enable cheats in the options, then enable sandbox mode. Your map window will now have the tools from the scenario editor available.
>>3039103
The popularity on some rides are probably at 0% and no one is getting on them. Either rebuild them or download OpenRCT, open thecheatmenu, and click "Renew Rides"

its habbenin~!
Chris is porting RCT2 to mobile like he did with Locomotion
>>3038953
As far as I know, OpenRCT is technically doing no wrong as long as it requires the original game to run (they may have to stop making it work with the demo though). This might mean that they never get a mobile release, but it also presents an opportunity for them to share code with chris sawyer's team and possibly get a good chunk of OpenRCT's features implemented into the mobile release, assuming chris doesn't have some shitty agenda against OpenRCT
>>3039640
Supporting the files from the demo is more of a consequence of being an almost functionally identical clone of the original game. I don't think there's anything inherently illegal with that as long as the game isn't a direct copy.
As for sharing code with Chris I don't think he would want that. OpenRCT2 is GPLv3 licensed which prevents code sharing with proprietary software. Chris wouldn't be able to profit to the same extent since anyone with a compiler could build his game and then they would just need the assets. Chris would probably rather do it his own way anyhow.
>>3039520
Oh hey i got this to work, thanks anon.
Are guests incapable of figuring out 'Gee, I should use the monorail to leave the park' or what?
Aesthetically I like to have areas linked only by monorail, but it always seems to result in people who want to leave getting trapped.
>>3039720
Monorails are basically just gentle rides, the peeps have no logic for using them as actual transport so you'll always need stuff to link back.

>>3039720
they even can't in rct3.
I once had this park, pretty big, and for some assbackwards reason, the monorail was the most popular attraction.
Guests got to the exit by monorail, but more by virtue of eventually wanting to ride it again than anything.
>>3039919
I just found it hilarious I barely started and Agoraphobia goes and tanks my park rating. My shitty luck.
screendumping more multiplayer
I worked on the pathing system (including any decoration along the path) with chozo (the corkscrew guy), and emulated his building style to make the river rapids station and the entrance to the drop tower. The rest of the map is pretty plain, with a bunch of coasters with nice stats but mediocre scenery/looks

i did it
thank you kind anons
I also upped the number of balloon stalls but not soon enough :(
>>3039149
In the ride settings for go-karts you can turn off race mode so that peeps can always ride as soon as a kart finishes a lap. They only get one lap this way, but it cuts out wait-time in the queues and can potentially increase ride profits (more rides per hour). Most noticeably, it cuts out the free lap for the winner of the race.
Peeps love go-karts, even the pre-builts, but an insane track is a must because why not? They never crash.
The balloons won't really help with the goal of that park, but you can never have too many balloon stalls :)
How can I sync 3 coasters or more?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rGKgVxx5Wu8
>>3041108
As long as the stations are touching each other you can just check the box in the ride options
>>3041114
Of course you'll have to make the middle stations longer than the ones on the outside so you can make entrances and exits.
Take a look at "Three monkeys park" for a general idea.
>>3041112
Nice, now I know why the tracks of them look so similar.
>>3041112

since this is a chris sawyer place I'll suppose I'll ask here first.
Where do I ask about Locomotion stuff?
Alright, updated the vpack once more. Here's what I've done with it over the last couple weeks:
Removed scenarios:
Lunatim's parks - Not 4chan-related. I've added these to a separate file and uploaded it to mediafire because his site seems to be down.
Fossil's parks - Not 4chan-related. Can be found on his site.
Thrill World - Not 4chan-related. Ugly flatland from 2003.
CrazyUs Mega Park - Not 4chan-related. Flat sandbox from 2002.
Cranberry Canyon - Carelessly designed and ugly scenario with a clusterfuck of land rights absent in several spots.
Scarborough Fair - Small sandbox grassland bloated with custom scenery. Nothing special. Removed to lower file size.
Atomik's 50x50 custom sandbox contest - Another small grassland sandbox bloated with custom scenery. Contest is over so there's no reason to keep it. Removed to lower file size.
Rolling Hills - Boring uninspired grassland with some pools of water. No money, no description, nothing to be researched, some custom garbage. Removed to lower file size.
Barren Desert - This is part of VJ's Scenario Pack, so it doesn't belong here.
Fixed/Edited Scenarios:
Water Temple - Removed buggy custom objects that wouldn't save with the scenario
Donut Dunes - Same as above
ALPHA EDEN - Guests were spawning in a corner of the map with no path. Moved spawn point to second park entrance.
A mountain with water and trees - Renamed to Echoing Woods as per the park's name.
Sandy Boxes - Changed objective to "Have Fun!"
Other:
Removed tracks made by Fossil, also found on his site.
Added jaSkyRdr.dat because it doesn't save properly with Rick and Morty's Futuristic Funland. For the sake of consistency I may decide to redo this scenario myself in the future, taking out and replacing this custom train type with its native counterpart.
>>3041724
I'm sure there are people who play it here, but if you want a full community to go to, try https://www.tt-forums.net/viewforum.php?f=52&sid=b4fc788fd0bb2fadaa847530aaaf2609
You guys seen the GameFAQs poll today?
Some more Gravity Gardens progress.
It's starting to get a little crowded, aesthetically. I should probably cool it on the buildings.
I thought I'd mess around with an abomination of stacked station synchronization. Something interesting happened. No more than two will depart at once. The second one will always go and the first and third appear to be randomly chosen. The fourth is never chosen. Did the behavior change with OpenRCT or has this always been the case?
>>3041773
Doing the gods work champ
>>3042658
I did alot of tests with this before and the logic is strange, you can get double stacked to work but more than that it seems to fail. If there is a variance of more than 1 units in height it fails as far as i can tell
Does anyone know if OpenRCT works with a torrented copy of the game?
>>3042780

What a fucking mess.

I didn't need these feels tbqh, you can tell the guy hates what Atari is doing but they would get their army of lawyers on him in a hot second
>>3045269
I don't think there's much else Chris can do at this point. Unless Atari does something outside the conditions of their agreement I don't think he can just take away their rights to the use of the name.
Maybe RCT2 Mobile is his attempt at fixing the bad image that Atari is giving his creation.
>>3045315
hopefully after World (justifiably) flops because it's shit (and there are too many direct competitors making better games in the same vein,) Atari just stop using it for a while, maybe he can then convince them to give the naming rights to whoever makes the most competent new-age equivalent.
Why does pink make everything look better in this game?
>>3045445
"Frontier" looks incredible, very comfy. It might look nicer with a small fence surrounding it, though.
Is intensity a good or bad stat?
>>3045474
Both. Too low and some guests will find it boring. Too high and no one will ride it because their necks will break. You want to strike a balance between excitement and intensity.
>>3045474
ideally you want it between 7 and 10, and even more ideally lower than excitement.
Though E > I would be a better notation than I < E
>>3045474
>>3045743
to elaborate on this anon's point, for junior/kiddy/less intense coasters, 3-5 intensity is your goal. For medium, small or short coasters (Vekoma double corkscrews, mad mice etc) between 6-7 is usually a good range, you need a ride or two in this middle band or guests who come into the park as pussies will never work up the courage to ride your more intense rides.
Large woodies, B&M loopers, hypercoasters etc etc you can take the intensity all the way up to 10 before the excitement starts to drop drastically.
On more intense rides, you might notice a large gap between excitement and intensity, this is ok. small/medium intensity rides should really have a similar or greater excitement over intensity, but on rides with 8+ intensity, it's harder to keep that up.
On roller coasters, you never really want your intensity more than 2 (I'd say 2.5 is acceptable on intense rides like woodies and corkscrews, as long as the excitement rating is very high) units higher than your excitement, as lower than that indicates that you've got some strong g force spikes along the track.
Of course, if you don't give a shit about realism it is extremely easy to jew the system. As long as you are having fun and your rides are making money, it doesn't matter how unrealistic things look.
Keep in mind that the excitement rating determines how much you can charge for the ride (round down by 10c from the excitement rating for a guaranteed good price. non-tracked thrill rides scale max price by intensity, so you can charge a fuckload for launched freefalls). This is why anons will tell you to aim for E>I or the closest you can get, so you can reap in the most shekels possible. No point in opening a huge ride with something like 6/9/5 in the stats, because the ride time would be so long you wouldn't make much money out of it.
I always feel like I go a bit too overboard with foliage.
>>3045767

>>3040943
I've noticed that it's not allways the best to simply put Continuous Circuit Mode for the Karts.
On CCM, from the 21 karts on my circuit, there where only about 8 karts running at any time. All others waiting in station and the queue always full and guests complaining.
Changed it to race with one lap and all karts run, queue moves faster and the winners lap lasts just ass long as the time it takes the other guests to get down and new ones to get up.
Is there a limit to how far a ride's "value" is decreased? I just read on the wiki that the value does decrease over time and it lowers your park value, but if I don't build shit fast enough will I just be fucked because everything will be devalued so far that I can't complete the objective?
>>3045269
Can't he just not agree to renew the lease if he really wanted to?
Tbh it sounds more like he's making so much bank off the lease just existing that to take it away from a large company like Atari would be financially unwise.
If anything would give him funds to do literally whatever he wants, it's leasing the rights to Atari.
>>3045879
I dunno how far it can drop, but you can always save up money and do a large buildout to spike your value before they start falling. That is THE strategy for the more difficult park value scenarios.
>evergreen gardens
>can't charge for rides

I'm trying to decide if Fun Fortress would look better like this, with the bricks being level along the fort so it has a stone base, or if I should have every exposed wall bricked. What do you guys think? I'd like to do something similar with Good Knight Park since I just left the walls as stone, but it would look pretty bad with all the slopes.
>>3048785
make the walls out of actual brick and use custom scenery land base blocks (you'd literally only need 1 or 2 quarter tile scenery pieces) to add the stone at the top so it has the appearance of raised land, while at the same time allowing the bricks to be on the inside of the wall so there can be bricks even on the sloped bits of land.
The same goes for those rooves, you could use custom scenery to have tile roof pieces with the red mine wall.
If you want to keep it all vanilla (which is of course understandable), use black wooden terrain walls for the castle foundation, and leave the brick walls at the height they are.
>>3048785
Wait for OpenRCT2 to hopefully be able to implement the old RCT land design and path creation functions.

>>3049041

>>3049049
Fuck now I gotta play Zoo Tycoon. brb going to release the penguins upon everyone
>>3046474
With regards to Evergreen Gardens, do I need to remodel/remove paths from some of the features in OpenRCT2? I really like maintaining what there is but a lot of it fucks with guests' pathing in RCT1.
>>3049053
I always lost or quit before winning in that game because I could never resist the urge to release the tigers
What the fuck, why is this bugged? The max train size can only be two, abnd the train will not move out of the station unless the lift hill is directly connected to the station.
Come the fuck on.
How do you guys make such good coasters? Mine always look like shit.
>>3049250
You have to work around the engine limitations, avoiding janky slopes and curves. For the most part its about emulating real coaster design subject to the restriction of specific curve and hill sizes
>>3048785
I think it would look better if the walls were level, then you used the castle wallas scenery item to put a lip around it. No castle would look like yours, guards would have a way to walk along the top and have crenelations to hide behind to avoid enemy fire. That just makes it look like an obstacle course.

>>3049612

>>3050392
To really make the illusion, you'd have to do it on a flat bit of land, and turn off the grid.
>>3039720
I really hope OpenRCT2 adds the possibility of guests using transport rides for transportation.
>>3050716
Well guests do use them for transport they just don't know why they do it.
>>3050716
They have to fix the fucking patching first and foremost. I know everyone loves to praise OpenRCT2 for fixing lots of shit, but the patching is still shit.
My favorite bug so far is how guests don't give up when a queue is full, they just crowd around a ride entrance. It's especially goofy because a crowd a guests will start heading to a 3D Cinema during a rainstorm, and then when the rain stops, they keep trying to get in line, for as long as it takes. So 15 realtime minutes later, I still have a bunch of fuckers trying to get in line for this ride.
FUCK.
>>3050751
That was supposed to be "pathing" instead of patching.
This is why I don't use 4chan on mobile.
>>3049591
Well I didn't make the castle, this is a remake of the RCT1 scenario Fun Fortress. I just want to make it look as nice as possible without changing the original design.
>>3050751
My favorite pathing bug is when handymen end up getting stuck in a ride's exit/queue path and they refuse to leave until you drag them out, causing the main paths to clutter up and your rating to drop.
Now I need to figure out how to make this look better without tampering with the original design too much.
>>3051445
use the zero clearance fence trick to get sloped fences floating in the air without the need for sloped land underneath, that way you can make the walls actually line up properly
>>3049612
this is how you do it, crappage, but if you have zero clearances on the fence will stay there no matter how you lower the land
So apparently Six Flags rollercoasters had "magic" properties that made it impossible for them to crash in the vanilla game?

I wonder if this change will have any effect on those six flags parks.
Another interesting change, scenarios with certain objects that don't export properly should work in dev builds as of February 27. OpenRCT2 can fix these objects automatically.

Does the OpenRCT multiplayer work for everyone? When I join a server it says "network desync" after 5 seconds.
Also did they change the AI in OpenRCT? It seems like the people puke a whole lot more.
>>3053323
That's normal right now. The multiplayer is very unstable at the moment, it has a tendency to desync and crash at random. Make sure you set it to "stay connected after desynchronizing" or you'll be kicked out.
>>3051943
What?
>>3051515
That's not going to work either. The walls clip through the terrain regardless.
>>3044663
First time I've seen a server room built in RTC.
>>3054105
made this as a quick mock-up of what I meant. There are landscaping block pieces for every terrain type out there, and you could use a custom path to have red tarmac the whole way without the retarded space/metal elevated bits (those weren't in RCT1, right? I only had the base game on disc)
>>3054209if you have enough autism you could use terrain blocks to make the slopes, keeping the actual terrain a plateau to prevent clipping
you could possibly make the ground the castle walls are on sloped to follow the terrain, with zero-clearanced sloped fences at the bottom to fill in the gaps
Otherwise you might just have to leave it how it was until OpenRCT allows custom/new terrain textures

>>3054105

Vanilla and AA/CF only had the wooden rails. Loopy landscapes added the steel, ash/dirt, and space rails. In LL the rails were a separate option altogether and you could mix them with whatever path type you wanted, even for the queues. That was removed in RCT2 unfortunately.

Also, while playing this scenario, which is an entry to the contest that's going on (detailed here: >>3033874) had some weird shit going on with the researching, that being it would say that I researched things that I already had placed down in my park/had used. The Abstract scenery and the Ice Cream Cone stall were the ones I remember. And it will research the same thing multiple times. The game researched Pirate themeing 4 fucking times in a row. Is this just OpenRCT fuckery or am I losing my mind?

The last few parks have been surprisingly good, very little trolling and tons of decent rollercoasters.
This is definitely the longest time I've ever spent making a scenario. 5 hours on the landscaping, 4 building the rides and 3 in playtesting. I'm assuming if I had OpenRCT2 it might have been a bit easier with the landscaping but everything was done manually.
If the objective of $60k in ride tickets sounds a bit much, keep in mind you have the biggest map available, a full tech tree and start with 7 coasters - 4 of which are a 4-way synced dueling design with an incorporated element. Of course they had to be Twisters because I don't know how to build anything else.
Have fun.

That's fucking gorgeous landscape. Thanks so much for a job well done.
Have any of you rigorously studied woodie stats? For getting E = I, is there some number of total drops to exploit with target positive and negative vertical gs? Some ideal average speed and length? I've made dozens of woodies and have sense enough to get excitement within a point of intensity but I'd like to really push it, or at least figure out how to best reconcile aesthetics with stats.
Maybe just dump whatever woodie stats you have, though scenery would be an issue.
>>3070789
This is the highest excitement rating I've managed with a wooden coaster.
>>3070789
Some guy tried to make a coaster generator awhile back and did a talk about it. He had deconstructed most of ride excitement. Here are a couple of slides from it. I can't remember if there was more but this is what i have saved.
>>3070814
I'd definitely like to see more of the computations. Not more than 9 drops unless trying to max excitement, but other than that it doesnt say much that isnt obvious. Clearly there is a similar effect from g forces/speed as there is from drops, as lowering the first drop decreases intensity more than it does excitement.
Actually, have the stat functions been fully decompiled yet? I recall seeing some code for them but it was mainly parameters for the function calls with no indication of what lay within.
Need to make a few adjustments to this since it's just short of the ride length penalty, but rate the scenery around it.

lim launched rollercoaster = 25
On the other side...
Very reliable rides:
golf = 0 (Well obviously)
crooked house = 5
monorail cycles = 4
>>3071684>flying saucers = 32
WHY
THEY'RE JUST RESKINNED BUMPER CARS
>>3071757
Alien technology, man.
>>3071757
The real Flying Saucers at Disneyland was very unreliable. The air valves keeping the saucers afloat were hard to maintain.
>>3071793
how did they work?
>>3071684
>crooked house = 5
They can break down?
>>3071810
Funhouses have mechanical parts like moving floors.
>>3071816
It would make sense to abstract that at perfectly reliable though, because no park would shut it down to fix a small component that can be left inoperable until closing.
>>3071816
No I mean, I have literally never seen or heard of one breaking down before in game.
>>3071835
The spiral slide also has some unreliability but I'm pretty sure they don't break down in RCT2. I was thinking that the number might just affect the running costs in those cases. Maybe it's to simulate park staff that would normally be overseeing the ride.
>>3071876
Well I stand corrected. I definitely remember them breaking down in the first game but never 2
>>3071684
Other spoilers:It looks like the chairlift gets increasingly more unreliable depending on the speed.
>ride->unreliability_factor = 14 + (ride->speed * 2);
If I'm reading this right apparently the unreliability formula is 14 + (<ride speed> * 2). I don't know how the speed is measured in internally though so it might not be as bad as it appears.
do mazes ever "break?
>>3071968
They do have some unreliability apparently but I can't remember ever seeing them break down in RCT2.
>>3070729
>Something always goes wrong with this.
Stop using custom shit then, asshole. Some custom rides are buggy and don't export with the scenario properly. You've got a custom mini coaster car and a vertical drop coaster car that have no reason to be there other than take up file size. Unless you're using custom shit on existing rides, or for the sake of theming, don't include them in your scenarios. Please.
>>3072164
>Not wanting custom coasters
Did it work? If yes, there isn't a problem is there?
>>3071968
They don't break down and can't (don't need to) be inspected. However, they can lose reliability.
>>3071876
I always used to think that the slide breaks down when a fat person rides it.
Nice to see the unlockable scenarios that I suggested forever ago has been implemented. The way all the scenarios are categorized by game is fantastic. I swear every other month the project gets better and better.
Anyway, I have a few questions. First of all, what's the difference between linear and anisotropic scaling in this game? I can't seem to tell a difference.
Also, I see they've added some new title sequences based on past games. Does the completed scenario feature not work currently?
>>3072318
>what's the difference between linear and anisotropic scaling in this game
Just use whatever looks better to you. Use only Nearest Neighbor at integer scales for best results.
>>3071810
>>3071816
>>3071835
They function like mazes. That is, they don't break down or need inspections.
t. 40+ hours of simulation
Tried remaking that new RMC Goliath, it has surprisingly good ratings for zero scenery.
Had to move the stall / barrel roll thing and it's also a twister because i cbf merging a woody into it.
>>3072426
to get rmc track, you could just put wooden supports below the twister track if you cannot be bothered with merging.
Looks good btw, never seen the ride irl, but I assume that diagonal flat part is a brake run?
>>3072448
Here you go

Where do I dropbox this?
>>3072498
Make a dropbox account, upload it, then share the link?
So what's a good way of handling mowing grass and vandalism? I always struggle to keep that stuff tight.
>>3070813
10/10 would break ribs to ride
>>3072541
Organized patrol routes. Place security guard patrol paths in areas with large clusters of breakable objects, such as food courts. Same with handymen. Set patrol paths on the grass you want to keep mowed.
>>3072498
>not making Six Flags New Orleans
>>3072608
that's pretty clearly what it was meant to be, anon
there's even a Batman
>>3072619
Oh. My bad, it's been so long.
>>3072541
i always like having a few handymen who are only allowed to mow, and no set paths. let them wander freely about the map, mowing as they go.
Did you know you can use the smallest quarter pipe section colored black or white to surround go karts tracks to look cooler?
Try it and post results.
>>3072634
This is what i do aswell if i can be bothered (i can't though)
>>3072640
you post results you lazy piece of shit
Built a Boomerang.
>>3072938
I was never a huge fan of those, but that's a pretty swell station
>>3072942
I only ever rode one when I was quite young. Then the park sold it since it was a fucking mess and now there's not a single one in the whole country (or any nearby country that I'm aware of). But I gotta say, the fucker looked quite cool.
>>3072938
What a shame that there isnt vertical inverted track so you can do it properly. The towers are an important part of it. Actually, would shuttle coaster track merged in look bad?
>>3072938
that looks really nice, very aesthetically pleasing, i love the colors
>>3071965
I think it was the chain lift speed

rip guests
>>3073103
every chain launch coaster I've ever built has, sooner or later, killed a train load of guests
It's been a while, so I'm not sure what steps can be taken to ensure safety or if your design is perfectly fine, but sweet jesus I can't see a chain launch without seeing the grim specter of fiery death lurking behind it
>>3073107
I've never seen one kill people. On the other hand they get stuck as soon as they break down.
>>3073107
As long as youre hacking the chain lift you might as well block section the coaster.
>>3073123
I always block section my coasters, maybe I just did it wrong, not accounting for the differences between standard launch and chain launch coasters? I can't remember anymore, again, it's been some time. The only thing I remember for certain is seeing a hell of lot of innocent park guests go up in flames all because of my greed for rocket coasters
>>3073107
For some reason when I made a chain launch coaster, when it broke down and it didn't make it up the first hill, the chain track caught the train and was actually slowing it down until it came to a complete stop, so I never had it slam into the station and kill everyone, even in worst-case-scenario breakdowns like break and station break failures.
a neat feature for ORCT would be if they could make it so if you hover over a block section it estimates how long timewise the section of track before it or after it is

I created a Pastebin for the Collab Document. I'd say the collab doc is among the most important links, it really should be in every OP in one way or another.

Anyway, what's the status of the ongoing collabs? Ping Micnax, Throw_Rug, Shnupz/flying banana dino/whoever and Shnupz!
>>3072954
>would shuttle coaster track merged in look bad?
Try it, I guess it could be improved by scenery. Also, I've seen people on NE use standard vertical B&M track for the towers.
>>3073267
You mean uninverted and just hidden in the towers? Did they forget that inverted shuttle track exists? I did compare them and it looks alright, though theres probably some cso that could be put on the spine to make it look closer. The rails at least match.
>>3072634
Do the guests actually care about mowed grass or is it just an aesthetic thing?
>>3073318
No. There's a reason its off by default.
>>3073281
Like this. Looks a little goofy but if you hide where they connect the track is the same.

I wish i was creative, but that impulse was killed long ago by my peers at school
Just a thought, but why don't you guys try having a little competition to build a RollerCoaster (Or a flat ride with scenery if you really prefer), with the only condition being the coaster and everything for it must be self contained in a set area on the smaller side?Maybe with an exception for underground parts.
Most of the best coasters I've ever seen posted in this thread were stuff that was contained to a set area. and folded in on itself repeatedly, yet I don't remember you guys ever trying a competition like this one.
>>3073616
>Why don't you make a Contest, then?
Because I've literally not played RCT2 in a year and a half, nowadays I just lurk.
>>3073596
If you been here before you know these competitions have been done a million times

How much custom scenery do you use there?
TRIGGER WARNING: SPAGHETTI
Ghost Town is fun as fuck.
Time to add a fuckton of S C E N E R Y.I'm saddened that there's not many people here that enjoys the clusterfuck that are scenarios like this. Oh well.
>>3073227
It has been pretty ded since the last cleanup.
>>3073834

Hey Shnupz, when I get around to it, I'll add your Comfy Coast park to the pack, but I'm going to redo it and strip down some of the custom objects. For your reference, the files that fail to save with the scenario are:
AE-MTRHN.DAT
AE-SPCMT.DAT
AE-SPLMT.DAT
JAGIGLT.DAT

Works, thanks a ton. What are these custom objects?

>>3073879
I'd say it not being in the OP is mostly to blame for that. Anyway, it'd be fun to get it going again.
How do I even git gud with landscaping? everything always looks like squares or pyramids.
>>3074137
That's not too bad, I think you just need more hills to cover up those squared off areas
>>3074137
Use scenery too hide it.
>>3074137
>>3074275
yeah, scenery is coming now
>>3074137
Use the smallest or second smallest and click away.
Seems like you made a nice job in the water but got lazy on the hills.
>>3074291
You ironed out the squares, which is good. I still see a lot of flat slopes that I would rough up though. My approach is to make the overall curve of the hills smooth and then to go over the flat slopes left by the hill tool tile by tile, leaving them not "bumpy" but smoothly "aliased" if that makes sense. This results in shallower slopes, though. Making steep slopes with vertical faces blended in takes a lot more work.
>>3074291
Maybe lower the sand at the beach by a level. The water is a bit too low I think. You may want to make the shoreline a little more straight. The sand in the ocean/sea water is a little too low also.
>>3073974
>tfw I never got a chance to explore the abandoned park because I was only 12 when the hurricane hit and moved to NJ right after the storm
>move back down recently
>look forward to exploring the park
>tfw it's cleaned up and a film shooting area now
It was a lot of work, but I'd say this turned out nicely. Looks closer to RCT1 more than ever.
>>3073974
Actually there's a problem with the guest entry - their spawn point is one tile off
>>3073974
>>3075434
I fixed it by adding the brown sections - I didn't bother to fix it properly because I already started playing.
I actually managed to build a Water Coaster with E>I. With scenery, but still!
>>3075592
Nice scenery, I like it.
Hey /vr/ for the last few days i was hosting the /v/ server for OpenRCT2, now im not sure if any of you stopped by or not, but the past few days have been pretty damn fun and we did have a bunch of spectacular parks with very little memeing and fuckery. At first I tried to keep memeing and shitting up the park to a minimum but by the last day I stopped trying and caring.
I wish I had found out about OpenRCT2 earlier than just last week.
You guys should open a /vr/ server up for yourselves if you havent already. Gotta be a hell of a lot nicer then playing with /v/ and having multiple shitters try to ruin things everyday.
>>3076361
I'd really only play if I knew there were serious people in there trying to build a nice park or work towards an objective.
We tried a server like a week ago. It was fun with all of the fuckery and everything but it kindof got boring fast. I'll be down with a server with some moderation and auto-saving just in case we need to roll back the park.
>>3076361
Also you should repost this in the new thread once this one dies.
>>3076361
