I was fine with the Super Game Boy until VR had to point out that it runs games at the wrong speed and trigger autism I didn't even know I had...

Doesn't play GBC games so it kind of sucks.

Would advise Gamecube's Gameboy Player instead. Lets you play all gameboy, and gameboy advance games.

It's fucking obnoxious, no? I live in a relatively biggish city in TN where the shit was relatively niche until this sudden boom in popularity happened overnight. Like my friends and I can almost pinpoint the day this happened and prices fucking soared. At least SEGA's still cheap
>>
>>2917962

It's mostly resellers taking advantage of stupid people or resellers trying to make a living off this shit. I've seen people try to buy on ebay, then sell that same purchase on ebay at a marked up price and it work before. It fucking baffles me.

All these hipster retards with money to blow.

Yeah but the SGB2 is Super Famicom-exclusive. Of course, modding a SNES is easy if you've got a gamebit, but still.

Also, the speed thing isn't even a big deal, the games play sliiiightly faster, which I don't actually mind at all, if it was slightly slower then maybe, but slightly faster? doesn't sound bad to me. And still, it's barely noticeable, I never noticed it myself until someone told me about it here on /vr/, I'm still not sure if I can actually notice it. Maybe if I play the game back to back on an original GB and the SGB, but I don't own 2 copies of the same game.

I'm pretty sure I've read somewhere that the Super Gameboy plays games about 2.4% faster than normal, so it's barely noticable at all. Nothing significant. If anything that extra bit of speed can help you improve at Tetris.

keep scapegoating a nebulous, potentially non-existent group of people for your own socioeconomic status. Get a job, buy games. Not hard. I haven't paid more than $30 for a used /vr/ game in years.
>>
>>2918632
Sounds like you're lucky. It's rare that I ever find a good, non-sports game below $30.

I just buy from small forums and occasionally pay the premium at the local game store if they have something cool that I don't want to wait for.

>>2917954
20USD isn't really that bad for what's essentially a Gameboy.

>>2918509
Well, all that stops the SNES from using SFC carts are those little blocking tabs in the cartridge slot, if you remove the tabs SFC cartridges will fit in there and the SNES will run them with no issues at all.
Now, I don't know a lot about the SGB2 but I assume it's shaped like an SFC cart, so it oughta fit with the tabs removed. I don't however know if it'll actually work with the SNES though.

If you want to play GB original games, it is pretty good. I'd reccomend fixing the clock speed with a mod though, either that or get the SGB2 from Japan.
>>

Or it's just people who owned them as a kid finally getting a job and want to relive a part of their childhood naturally driving the price up. I doubt or at least sincerely hope no one actually gets a huge retro gaming collection just because they wanna look cool.

Unlike you my affinity lies in the games themselves, not the format.
If the game is there and playable, and I have the controls to interract with it (a gamepad or whatever), that's all that actually matters.

Who even cares, I clicked the link, watched the (short enough) video, thought it was quaint and moved on, I'll probably never see his videos again, but it's not like he shoved it full of shitty injokes, had cringey storyline or made it about his persona/ego.

You're still stuck with the screen of the GB though.
If I have to choose between a small olive green dot matrix screen with lots of ghosting and which is hard to see in a lot of lights, and big clear TV, then I think it's pretty obvious.

If you already have a gameboy advance sp or any device that plays gb/gbc games then no since these carts are getting fairly expensive, that and as it was noted they don't play most gbc games, just black cart gbc games. You're better off getting a gb player for the GC. I got my super gb a couple years back for $1 and I think that's what it's worth, or at least less than $10 since they're a cool device to place your gb game on your snes, especially if you don't own a GC and on top of that, having to buy the GBP add-on with the disc.
Aside from that, you're better off playing an emulator or using a gba sp.

Mario's Picross is the best GB-exclusive puzzle game, and the Wario Land series are its best platformers.

Mega Man IV and V are even better than the NES games, but they're incredibly expensive.
>>
>>2927093

the only retro controller option for the gamecube is the ultra expensive hori one

that shit is 130 dollars bro

nope it looks better without scam lines. BTW you can play sgb on handhelds too without the crt effect.
>>
>>2927054
>screen still tiny
Which isn't a problem, but the context of this thread is playing GameBoy on your TV.

Shame they never gave the GameBoy Color a lit screen, that would have been supreme.
Though I guess it was after the GameBoy Light which used a monochrome screen and long before the GBA SP. I guess there's always the SP nowadays.

>>2927170
Yikes that's actually not cheap.
Aren't there gamepad adaptors for consoles? Like, I know you're supposed to be able to play on a GameCube with a DualShock 2 with the use of an adaptor.

>>

They do. They are not meant to be played like that. A game boy doesn't have scan lines. Scan lines degrade game Boy Games, unlike nes and snes games which they enhance beautifully.
>>
>>2929273

I hate CRT's, I'm arguing that you're a fat cockgobbler.
I'll hook a Super Gameboy up to my big flatscreen and you can't stop me.

>>2929313
>Stretching those super low resolution games on lcd look like shit too
Depends on how they're stretched, if the aspect ratio is kept I don't think it'd look bad, I don't mind pixelation, the Super Gameboy adds borders too.

>>2929323
>Gameboy games are not meant to be played with scan lines let alone any TV device
Well Nintendo obviously disagrees with that notion given that they developed, produced, marketed and sold the Super Gameboy
>>
>>2927328
>scan lines
Play on a crt, then.
>>
>>2929471
Gameboy games are not meant to be played on a TV screen.
>>
>>2930078
Then why would nintendo make things like this, that let you play them on a TV?
>>
>>2930268
as a consumer feature. it's just a "feature". it's like playing ps1 games on your psp. it's not meant to be played that way but you can because feature allows it for reasons of comfort etc.
