why the fuck do i have to keep my app open for it to count the distance when hatching eggs
i just walked around for 2 hours in my city running errands (probably 4-5 miles total) and it registered maybe half of that because my phone was locked or the app crashed/lost my location 10 times

I live in a third world country and I have very fond memories of Pokemon when I grew up but I don't remember many other kids liking Pokemon as much as I did. Now I'm on a discord with 100+ people who all remember Pokemon fondly from their childhood. Made me feel feels desu, I am slightly aspie and never really had friends but I've never felt more accepted by society.

I live kind of close to a lake, but far away enough that I have no clue how I managed to get Goldeen, Krabby, Horsea, and so on. To be fair I got Psyduck and Magikarp right next to the lake, but all my other water types I've found outside my house. Hardly anybody I know here has fire types. Only fire types I've seen people have are Charmander, Flareon, Growlith, and a Vulpix, the latter two being pretty rare.

In an unrelated message, my work has a wetlands surrounding it, so I see a lot of Water types around. I've caught Staryu, Horsea, Goldeen, Poliwag, and I even saw a Tentacool once but couldn't find it. The big thing that I kept seeing, though, was Psyduck. Again, though, they just would not show up. The entirety of my breaks for the past 4 days have been spent Psyduck hunting.
Today, the hunting paid off.I also found a wild Haunter immediately after catching the Psyduck.

what do rural players want exactly? fuckin crybabies, the game can't be omnipresent and predict where rural players are going to be and spawn pokemons for them (if you think the app queries the spawns, you are fucking dumb). It's easier to use heat maps from bigger cities to know where to spawn pokemons.

Here's my top contenders in their entirety atm. Also, the small town I mentioned before was built right beside a pretty large man-made lake. I've gone out and visited said lake anywhere from noon to 3 o'clock in the morning (not exaggerating, wanted to find ghosts). There are no fucking water Pokémon ANYWHERE. Has anyone else experienced this? Also I haven't had any luck with finding ghosts either.

So I'm level 9 and my strongest is my Jolteon in the 600s. The problem is that the white semicircle is almost filled up. As I level up, will he get an automatic CP boost or will I be able to power him up more again? Or is he just doomed to stay at that level?

The pokemon you catch in the wild become a lot stronger as you level up. The general strategy right now seems to be catching as many pokemon as possible and evolving them for experience. Don't bother wasting any stardust on powering up until you're level 15+.

Take whatever garbage mons you caught and transfer them (if you click on the pokemons profile page and scroll down itll say transfer.)

Save up a bunch of easy evolutions (pidgy in my area ie) then wait to use them all at once when you pop a lucky egg. I wouldn't even worry about a main evo in that line yet if they're super common.

Evolve the Pidgey duplicated. Transfer whatever Pidgey you can't evolve. Transfer everything that you don't want. You wanna know how people get EXP easy? Grinding Pidgey. They evolve after 12 candy and are common as fuck. Best to save a fuck load of them and wait until lv 9 when you receive a lucky egg. Use the lucky egg, evolve your Pidgey, and swim in levels.

I always try to stagger my gyms with common type weaknesses. Is there anything else other than dumping your best pokemon on them?

I heard that in Ingress, they made you start again at level 1 when you switched. If they implement something similar in Pokemon, do you think it will cause you to lose all your pokemon?

Discovered that my T-Mobile plan was outdated. There was an equally priced plan that offers 2 GB of fast LTE data instead of 1 GB for the same price, while also giving me most of the same features. So now I have a reasonable amount of data for playing Pokemon Go as much as possible.

I get that too. If you spin your finger in place while holding the ball it'll start spinning, and it'll curve through the air when you throw it. I guess sometimes you spin your finger a little just as you release so it fucks you up.

Power up the basic, then evolve or evolve asap and power up then?
Also, should one bother with the Pokémon you get early or just grind trainer exp. and not bother with Pokémon that start with like 100 CP?

I've got 60k dust saved and am not gonna evolve anything anymore. I got excited and wasted candies on a few evolutions and after a few more trainer levels I catch a basic with almost the same CP as my second stage.

Don't start evolving anything until you hit a 20+ trainer level. Once you're that high most of the non ultra-common mons will be 400-500 CP and you'll have a mid-1000's by the third stage.

There's a trainer level cap of 25 I've heard, but I also heard it used to be 20 and it's gonna raise indefinitely. If you're in a rural area it won't matter because everyone will be a low level. If you're metro and not leveling regularly, you'll never be competitive unless you keep within 5 levels of the top players.
If a Pokémon runs out of stardust can I just train it at a gym or something to gain more? Or if it's gone it's gone?

If you're in a metro area you have no excuse, I went up 3 levels the other day visiting my friend in the city. There were stops on every fucking corner, just driving through I gathered a shitload of resources. It's not even a big city either.

Yup. I rode around the other day in my relatively small city and literally didn't stop spinning or catching for more than 10 seconds. The XP rolls in like 10k an hour.

Also had 4 Pidgeottos less than 1kg, my lightest is 0,14kg, found no conclusive effect on battles though.
On the other hand, I prefer (non normal) type moves as the quick attack, since it allows you to kill powerful gyms really quickly if you care for the typing. Took out a 1000CP Flareon with my 400CP Stariu today, shot was cash.

It has to be open and the primary running app. It counts the distance travelled and afterwards checks back if it allignes with your step counter, so treadmill is not going to work.

I'm at level 16 with only 1 cp1000+ Pokemon so I want to prioritize finding powerful wild Pokemon and evolving them before I power any of them up.
