Yeah, and I have seen, at least in my experience, wild appearances that match these locations. I've found a few Poliwags by small streams and some Slowpokes by a pond in a park. Bodies of water DO tend to produce more water-types, but not always.
Parks don't seem to yield much at all, though, so I'm confused as to why the map even marks them. I spent hours in a major state park the other day and wild appearances were sparse, even with lures and incenses going. The max CP of a Pokemon is set by its weight, so getting a low CP Pokemon that's XL means it isn't useless. CP just denotes how much candy you'll have to feed it to hit its max, which is why getting higher CP is valuable. All correct?

I'm not sure if its true but it seems like the bar is the same for every pokemon, and it just increases every time you level up. So he's going to have the same cap as other mons and if you level up you will be able to power him up more. Not sure but that seems to be the case and it makes the most sense to me. Straight lines make it easier to track distances with the footprint marks. Refresh the app frequently too because sometimes you walk out of range for a pokemon while it still says it's three footprints away.

So I just started out, still just around level 4.
But this is what I've gotten from basically a day of going around my nearby woods (with duplicate transfers already done).
How many pokemon on average should I be getting from an outing? Seems like it'd take forever to get a good amount of stardust and candy at my current rate.
Also, gonna try to give all them real names this time as my general theme (did food last time I played Black 2 recently). Some of them like the caterpie and nidoran need to evolve before the names make sense though.

Not really. I tried it on Android and they're pretty good at detecting spoofing. Doesn't load any pokemon or stops.
But honestly, you should go out and play it. Last weekend I was severely depressed. This weekend was the best weekend I've had in years thanks to Pokemon Go.
Just run around, ride a bicycle, get stuck out in the rain, catch pokemon until your battery runs out, get exercise. It's really good for you, physically and mentally.

Can confirm this one, it works reliably for me. Also keep an eye on rustling grass patches. They aren't guaranteed spawn points, but I've found that pokemon around my apartment tend to cluster in specific locations close to them.

While it is theoretically true (and so logical than not thinking about it would be strange) it doesn't work/isn't that easy. Most of the time you cannot walk everywhere you want; even moreso in a town. And especially because you have to do a big number of steps in order to see a difference in footprints. Not something that will happen by crossing the street. Well, you can always do it using diagonals, but it's longer and more annoying.
