So this might be common knowledge but figured I'd share anyways. If your close enough to a Pokemon that it has no footprints next to it on your radar you can select the Pokemon and it will pop up on your map automatically.

So is the only way to get the CP high is to use the training feature? Do gyms help? I have not been able to explore much since the release.
So I've been messing around with spoofing location, it seems that as long as you dont move great distances it doesnt seem to detect you, moving 1 or 2 small blocks at a time seems fine
Also if you get caught spoofing you get "softbanned", you cannot collect shit from pokestops and you cant catch anything, since everything runs away, lasts around 4-6 hours

An app widget that allows you to toggle a wake lock to keep your device from going to sleep.
You can set it to do either a bright screen wake lock or a dim screen wake lock (so your screen will dim after 20 seconds or whatever but won't turn off and sleep).

1. When I turn AR on, a popup says "can't detect phone orientation," and a pokemon never appears until I turn AR off.
2. When I go to a gym battle, I get a white screen with health bars. No pokemon appear. Sound plays normally as my pokemon die.

today was really great, got to 12 before going home. the redondo pier is FUCKING POPPIN if anyone lives in the south bay/LA area. i was in lures all night with my friends, chatting with random people and recruiting for yellow when i could. got real fucked up too. love this game.
btw there were so many gyms that bugged out today its the worst bug so far!

Anybody else having problems with PTC site? Created an account, which worked fine and was able to log into Go fine. Had to try 3 different browsers before finally getting it to take the email validation, but logging in to PTC site just leads to an Access Denied page. Curious about this too. I think it first relies on knowing whether Pokemon are dimoprhic, ie. can two Pokemon of the same species have different final stats when their semi-circle is maxed out (assuming they're both owned by players of the same Level).

I read some analyses online and it seems that while there are a few things that factor into a Pokemon's potential, the CP is the most reliable thing to go off of. Pokemon that are XL in size, giving them a small HP boost, can actually evolve into an XS Pokemon. So that boost is unpredictable and not worth banking dozens of candy on. If you find a Pokemon at a high CP and evolve it, it will retain the position on the CP arc in that Pokemon's stat screen. There also seems to be a correlation between how high or low a Pokemon's CP is when you first catch it and its final maximum CP when fully leveled up without evolving. Pokemon found and caught with a higher CP tend to have a much higher max CP than Pokemon found with lower CP. Based on this information, I think it's really pretty definitive that you should evolve your highest CP Pokemon and then start leveling it up. The only thing that should make you reconsider is the Pokemon's moveset which also changes randomly after evolving.

Another thing to add that I find worth mentioning is that Pokemon with vastly higher CP will have higher HP than any lower ranking XL-sized Pokemon anyway. So even if you wanted to level up an XL Pokemon in the hopes of taking advantage of that small health boost, it would be all for nothing in light of Pokemon with much higher CP that have a fundamentally higher HP by default. Highest CP is what you want to keep an eye on for sure.
I can only imagine the absolute madness of grinding if they were to release this with all gens from the get go, I assume it will get easier as gens get added
