We have an icy area and a desert area from what I can see.

Looks like the shrine from the first trailer is on the left most island.
The biggest island has the most interesting sights, the mountain, the town walled off by massive walls, the comfy johto-style town, etc.

The region looks like a good size though. Plus, we might get another Sevii Islands for post-E4 adventures. The theme for this game is travelling, right? So I could definitely see extra areas becoming available later in the game.

At MOST 12 places that could be cities/E4 shown on this map. Kanto had 11, Kalos had 17 and we've seen steady increase.

Top left island looks very simple and doesn't seem to have many areas. Likely where you start the game
Bottom left island seems to be where you fight the box pokemon. Not much else of note there except for that giant tree, that could be a settlement of some sort or otherwise somewhere of interest. I'm willing to bet that this island will have the highest concentration of new pokemon.
Top right island seems pretty large. Lots of cities to dump gym fights on and that volcano's probably important, though i'm not too sure about the smaller island on the bottom
Bottom right island will likely take up at least half of the game. They'll probably have your last confrontation with some important character at the top of the mountain, seems like there'd be some big plot-important thing up there
Middle island is almost certainly the pokemon league.
That little island up the top will almost certainly play host to some postgame legendary or otherwise important content
Overall it looks pretty good. There aren't as many water routes as I thought there'd be though. There are a bunch of beaches but it looks like you'll only need to surf to progress through part of the fourth island, the rest of the waterways look fairly inconsequential.
Do you think we'll finally get some form of free exploration? The region doesn't seem that linear, we might get to choose where we go to some level.
