Just beat the Elite with these guys. Didn't even have Tyranitar yet. Octillery was my main dragon killer but he's so weak I had to abuse accuracy loss to let him get the hits in.

You're definitely underlevelled. Don't swap anyone out unless you want to grind until you fall asleep. Grinding in HGSS is horrible, because there are almost no areas with wild Pokemon of decent levels.

If you can put up with less than ten levels of shit until you get Eelektrik, Eelektross is a personal favorite. If that's not your style, you can always try the low-level Volcarona or Mandibuzz in the desert.

You can get a level 7 Gengar without hacking before you beat Brock. I'd recommend that.
Don't go for the level 1 version, since getting even 1 EXP puts it at level 100 without learning any attacks, with zero stat experience.

I'm playing a romhack of ORAS, it has all pokemon available in the wild (drayano), but difficulty adjusted to obscene levels, revives and pots cost 30k each as well, so no cheaping battles.
Every trainer from tate and liza on wards will have lvl 100s, so its all about skill really. I love pokemon and im a competent battler (1600+ on showdown), but man this game really lit a fire of passion in me for its sheer difficulty

Why sacrifice so much when you probably only need to sacrifice one of them? One level up and even an uninvested neutral Geodyde OHKOs. Was my go-to tactic for Whitney in GSC, but then again Geodude/Graveler is easy mode for the first four gyms in gen II.
