Soaring was shit.
It was still extremely inconvenient to use. Only being able to use it with Lati@s, the long-ass animation, having to manually fly to where you wanted to go... who even wanted to use it besides kids and dragonfuckers? Handout Legendary with Mega Stone right after the 5th Gym? No thanks I'm good.
It was pointless. Soaring to a Route could be done in the same time as Flying to a town and taking a couple extra seconds to ride your bike there. Those random islands with Lengendary Pokemon were also shit. They could've added new locations on the main world or just added Legendaries in various fitting locations post-game.
Sun and Moon should just let you Fly to Routes. There, we wouldn't need that unnecessary flourish that they ACTUALLY USED AS A SELLING POINT anymore.

Sinnoh underground was my absolute shit. I'd be there 24/7 unearthing all types of goods to send back up to the surface. The spheres were fucking pointless to me though. The ONLY bad part about Soaring was the long animation.
If you wanted to move faster between towns, you shouldn't have asked for actually seeing your Pokemon fly between towns. A lot of people asked for it, and yet they fail to realize how much longer it would take to travel with something like that.
Soaring gave us mystery islands, legendary spots that didn't break lore and a way better view of the overworld (even if the 3D wasn't so good).
