What are your theories on how it grows from Core to 10% to 50% to Complete?
How will it fit in with the storyline?

There'll be a lot of emphasis on the idea of the Pokemon world coming together as one, with old characters like Colress, Blue and Steven making an appearance, and the new region having all the Pokemon that can't be obtained in Kalos, so that you can catch everything in one game bar a few legendaries, starters and fossils.
With that in mind, I personally believe that Kalos will be said to be "on the other side of the world", and you have to take your 50% Zygarde from the Sun/Moon region and go back to Kalos and merge the two to create the Complete Forme to save the whole world. This is why the Kalos Zygarde resides in Terminus Cave, which is close to not only Anistar City but also the seemingly useless train station in Couriway Town.

Kalos is NOT going to be in Sun & Moon. They will NEVER do the Johto/Kanto gimmick again, especially not with a region as empty and weak as Kalos. If you want Kalos to make a comeback and give Zygarde a story, you'll be better off hoping for a Pokémon Z. Sun & Moon is not going to be a tribute to a game we literally just had instead of being something new on its own.

Kalos is not fucking going to be in Sun & Moon. They're not going to waste the games paying tribute to a region we were literally just in. It worked for GSC because Kanto was extensive and you got to see what happened afterwards. We already know what happens after XY, they don't need to make a whole new game showing it to us. Lysandre is dead, Malva stayed an E4 member and kept a low profile, AZ reunited with his Floette and lived happily ever after. There's nothing to base a Kalos sequel on. If you want Zygarde to have a proper story you're better off hoping for Pokémon Z.

Personal theory is that Zygarde isn't simply based on one of the creatures that inhabit Yggdrasil; it IS Yggdrasil.
Zygarde is the Pokemon World's consciousness, regulating life and death in the form of Xerneas and Yveltal, and monitoring the ecosystem.
The Sun and Moon legendaries will be its counterparts, representing their respective celestial bodies. It will be the trio master for them, and will be able to draw power from one body to counter the other, either simply in the form of Thousand Waves/Thousand Arrows or even gaining a further form from 100%.

Anon. At first I thought you were grasping at literally nothing. But instead of tossing the thought aside I went ahead and messed around the image to try and make the flash censor at lest a little less distracting. The left area being pointed might actually be showing something similar to the partial red design upon the left Zygarde wing. The right side where its circled seems to fit a close shape to the foot of perfect Zygarde but got censored with white so it would fuse with the lighting.
Honestly it would be great if direct scans existed so doing stuff like this would be more effective if possible. Still gonna take this as a big stretch but at lest you might be onto 'something' I guess.

The only thing that's coming together in terms of the old fandom is the matter they released VC versions of the old games with the idea that you'll be able to send that data to S/M. Why would Zygarde be any different? It just means that the anime gets to have something for itself. The formes in Picross, Tretta and the TCG is specifically to promote the anime, since it's obvious Gamefreak wants everyone to watch the anime to boost its ratings. Same reason why Ash Greninja has merchandise and is in the TCG. It has nothing to do with the Zygarde formes being in the mainline games.

I think his alt forms will be added to the game but I don't think they'll have any story significance whatsoever.
My theory is that they were originally planning on making Z, made some new forms for Zygarde, put them in the anime, but then ultimately decided that they wanted to move on with the series instead of staying in Kalos.
So I think that any "story" Zygarde's alt forms would have had in-game are just going to be scrapped.
