Meanwhile Ascension can help you get that turn 2 mega if you somehow miss it on turn 1. Isn't that much better for this kind of deck? Or am I missing something?

It's not just the Ability. If Giratina fires Chaos Wheel, you will need to slow-charge Mega Ray and also have Hex Maniac ready on the turn you attack. your deck lacks consistency focus on the greninja line.
you ideally want:
4 froakie
4 Frogadier (Breakpoint with water duplicates)
4 Greninja either XY or Breakpoint
and 3 Greninja break
Your also going to want a 2-2 Octillery line for draw power.
Miltank is fine. most of the other pokemon are unnecessary. Articuno is good for cheeky prizes. I'd cut everything else.

Hoopa EX's utility in an EX heavy deck is incredible. Opening it in your hand (with another Pokemon) or an ultra ball literally sets up your entire board in one turn. Well worth the low probability of being stuck with it. It's called risk vs reward and given that Pokemon is a luck based TCG, risky cards are just a part of the game.
Opening Shaymin EX or Exeggcute is just as cancerous to open too by the way.

You have to run DCE and have a copy in your hand and have access to another Pokemon to use Sky Return. Or just run AZ/SSU/Float Stone all of which work on Hoopa EX too. It's still a terrible opening anyway you slice it.

First, I would check any Targets or Wal-Marts in your area. They don't get many in stock at once, but they tend to restock fairly frequently. Around $500 over a decade of prereleases and a handful of singles. I never bought product outside of a prerelease, since during those events back then you'd get 8 packs, a promo, sleeves, energies, and a poster for $25. On top of an entry to a raffle.
I stopped buying and only play online now. I might get into it if a deck ends up being extremely fun to play, but none right now are that good.
