Expansion has officially released, rev up those spoilers boys. Don't expect the expansion to be fully translated until several months from now.

Waifu and backup waifu are both already fights in the base game, here's to hoping for some cute facial expressions and post-game rematches.

So has Nether been confirmed to be less bad now

I don't think anyone's gotten far enough / done enough datamining to really say anything about how things are going to work out at at the new endgame / netplay.

I'm praying for buffs to my favorite. Big buffs. Otherwise I'll riot.
>>
Let's all hope Kagerou gets a better moveset
>>
>>24915012

What she really needs is not having all of her styles taking quad damage from two of the most common offensive types out there.
>>
RaikoE is Sound/Illusion typing, base stats of 100/60/100/60/100/100

5 weaknesses doesn't seem very good for something so designed to be a wall.
>>
>>24915032

Man that stat spread is wonky as hell.

The only thing that can remotely salvage that is if she's got some real damn good skills that she can use her speed to pre-empt with, otherwise that's a hell of a lot of stats being wasted on something that has no use for it.
>>
>>24915032
where are you getting this info, out of curiosity?

Derp, I mean 4.

>>24915059
Yeah, those are legit unusable offense stats; base 60 offenses aren't salvagable even with Choice items. RIP RaikoE, unless stall somehow becomes viable. At least there's still RaikoP.

I had a feeling that'd be the case, that stat spread is either utterly worthless or very powerful depending on the kinds of skills she gets and Hemo ain't the kind of guy to let it be garbage.
>>

I'm hoping KanakoP gets a sizable power buff. She's not very good compared to her defense form, and defense form isn't particularly good to begin with.

Yeah. First Aid Treatment, Revolving Illusion, the like, running off of 100/100/100 defenses and 100 speed. One of her abilities is Maintenance (i.e. Shed Skin), her other one is new and effect isn't known yet.

Might be useful as a defensive pivot if only because STAB Resolving Illusion is good, but 4 weaknesses to common attack types might ruin that. RaikoP has just 1 weakness and 3 resistances for reference (weak to Earth, resistant to water, sound, and nether), which is particularly good because having just 1 weakness (and not even a double-weakness at that!) seems to be much more difficult now that illusion types have Chaos types to deal with
>>
>>24915263

Seems like the extra style is going to live or die by what types the most common puppets are.

It has potential though, a high speed mixed wall is pretty neat.
>>
>>24915164
The same goes for every stat spread. I mean, just look at P. Rumia.
>>
>>24915112
But does anyone use it? I'm looking through the usage stats at http://gensou-suwako.com/correct/URViewer/URrank.php, and I can't find anything that seems to translate to Smash Spin.

I can see it being useful to keep all those pesky Wind-types at bay, and there are some good puppets with Bind Trap to slow down the hyper-offense.
>>
>>24915263
Speaking of Maintenance, it breaks my heart that there's no 2hu that plays like Scrafty in this.
>>
>>24915312
If nobody uses traps then there's not any reason to use Spin either.
>>
>>24915296

Well, yeah, can't argue with that.

But it's a lot more common to see a shit stat spread and it ends up not being a very good unit rather than seeing a great stat spread and it ends up not being a good unit.
>>
>>24915284
She's weak to Wind, Illusion, Electric, and Chaos. The first three are all very common and the last will probably be very common specifically to prey upon the former two. I'm still pretty worried, but she still has her stellar P stance to fall back on anyways

100/125/95/80/85/95, Illusion/(New Type).

She appears to have fallen victim to ShinkiS's curse of being too balanced in stats.

Oh, and here's the big one. RenkoE's stat spread:

40/10/205/10/205/10

She is now Shuckle.

MaribelE's stat spread while I'm at it:

90/120/70/30/80/90.
>>
So was Sariel buffed or nerfed in expansion?
>>
>>24915328

Looking through the top 25 for usage and rating, only

- TokikoP (7.06% usage, of which 10.6% have the move)
- ChiyuriD (5,87% puppet usage, 41.6% move usage) use Stealth Trap, and only

- Parsee (5,47% puppet usage, 40.6% move usage) uses Bind Trap.

You're probably right that it's not common enough that people bother preparing for it.

>>
>>24915678
Yeah. Gravity Blast (presumably) + Starving Spirit for STAB is absolutely nuts; only things that wouldn't be neutral to at least one of those would be steel/sound, void/light, or void/sound. Back that up with ridiculous speed and a stellar attack stat, and she's basically something you NEED priority to deal with.

This is why Sound now resists Nether; so things like this can exist.
>>
>>24915701
Also they changed the layout of the Hakurei Mountain Cave, because the first time around being an un-navigable mess wasn't enough
>>

It's not complete until you spend more time navigating the caves than you spend on the entire rest of the game.
>>
>>24915713
Just fucking with you; the layout appears to be such that while there are still tons of paths, they all lead to the end.

So basically garbage.

In the base game, yeah, very much so. It's weak to two of the top three most common offense types in the game, only hits strong against some of the least commonly used types in netplay and resists almost nothing.

A puppet being dark type is almost always a bad thing.

If I was further along in the game I could test it on puppets more likely to resist the string, but I went back to confirm I really did get the string on it just in case. It feels almost like it resisted it but played the wrong animation, but if that was the case it would be happening to everyone.

Good news for nether fans: Poltergeist is a skill card move in the expansion. Nether types being deliberately crippled appears to have ended now that two types resist them.

Other old moves that got promoted to skill card status include Thunder Cut (i.e. BP 90 physical electric, 10% chance to boost speed), Ice Prison (i.e. Surf), and Backdraft (i.e. Flamethrower).

Oh, and AyaP lost Rush Attack in favor of the new physical fighting multi-hit move. AyaP actually nerfed?

I got the boat and explored all of the magic forest, found the icy cave in middle of the lake (though I could only grab an item as an ice block was blocking my path) and went back and got a ton of items that require a boat to obtain.

Where do I go now?

Apparently that's not the first time stuff like this has happened. Previous nerfs include stuff like making DReimu no longer be able to learn a OHKO move, and nerfing PNue's stats.

In the middle case, any previous examples that had it would keep it, but they would be illegal for online play. Presumably that'll happen for anything that could be learned by a puppet in the original game but not in the expansion if it got transferred over.

This means that what I said earlier was right:

Oh hey, a lot of the low-cost puppets had their stats adjusted in general, usually taking stats from their "bad offense" and putting them into areas that they would be useful in instead.

For an example, WakasagiP lost 20 ATK and got 10 speed and 10 HP.

ChenS lost 10 ATK, gained 5 SpATK and 5 Speed (so she now outspeeds FutoS).

God, having a high BST feels less and less useful when the lower ones tend to get more optimized stats and the good statboosting moves.

KogasaA lost 10 ATK and gained 10 SpATK, which on something with Fairy Dance is scary as hell
>>
>>24917049
135 SpAtk.
Ability to have 100% hit rate.
Move with 50% hit rate and 100 power that burns if it hits.
120 power Fighting move with 85% accuracy.
STAB knockoff.

It just works.
>>
>>24917039
O yea, I remember what happened now. The NPC right before it say something about being careful and even recommend writing your will before going. So I decided to go out and explore and grab everything first. Somewhere between exploring the giant ass Magic Forest part 2 and just general backtracking I honestly forgot that area existed.
>>
>>24917078
That's pretty good but it hardly seems out of line with some of the other high-end sweepers in the game.

Did she have a lot of bulk too or something?
>>
>>24917148
Base 100 speed (i.e. hitting what in Pokemon is one of the most critical benchmarks in the game).

She's still a joke compared to the Fire/Fighting types that exist in actual Pokemon (Blaziken obviously, but even Infernape is ridiculous as well)

NO. NO NO NO NO NO NO NO
I AM NOT DEALING WITH THAT FUCKING THING ~AGAIN~. WHY WOULD YOU DECIDE THAT THIS GAME NEEDED AN EQUIVALENT TO THAT OVERPOWERED EMBODIMENT OF WHY I GAVE UP ON COMPETITIVE POKEMON PLAY IN GEN 6

I AM NOT DEALING WITH THE UNBELIEVABLE AMOUNTS OF BULLSHIT BRINGS TO THE TABLE

Let me put it like this. Smogon found that Giratina's Origin Form would be less degenerate in OU than Aegislash. The BST 680 Ghost/Dragon with 150/100/100 defenses, base 90 speed, and 120/120 offenses is LESS overpowered than Aegislash. Both of Giratina's forms see less usage in Ubers than it (it's ranked #15 in the usage charts for reference, which in a tier filled with overpowered bullshit is saying a lot)

That is the level of overpowered we are dealing with here. This is something stronger than a lot of things in Pokemon that were designed to break the game into pieces.

Fuck AyaP, THIS is supreme bullshit of the highest order. This is the sort of thing for which bans were designed to remove from the metagame. THIS is the sort of thing that deserves to die in a goddamn fire.

#BANAEGISLASH

>>
>>24917458
Wait no hold on it's looking to be nowhere near as degenerate; the King's Shield equivalent only reduces damage rather than eliminates it entirely and it's unknown whether the sharp attack drop against contact moves is still present. Hopefully Protect doesn't flip her back like how it somehow didn't with Aegislash. She also appears to be lacking a LOT of what made Aegislash so stupid (no priority moves, unless that new one at 56 is a Chaos priority move, no set-up moves, nowhere near as good defensive typing [fire weak, earth weak, double weakness to fighting], doesn't look to have anywhere near as good type coverage...)

Sorry, I just had horrible flashbacks about how insanely bullshit Gen 6 competitive was. We already have stuff like SukunaD running around that eat this thing for lunch, I just panicked and assumed the worst.

>>24917600

i'd like to ask anyone knowledgable on the subject, how did youmu get affected?

Postgame warning: The AI has learned to actually switch.

As in "they will switch in something that resists or is immune to the attack you probably are launching at the opposing puppet".

Also the E3 rematches are much nastier this time around, which is saying a lot. They START in the low 90s this time around, you can't gap back out once you start, and it culminates in a level 100 that has full EVs in every single stat.

You can't outlevel it anymore. Welcome to hell.

>>
>>24917887
>>24917918
You can solo the entire original game with a starter Miko (going speed) without grinding the wild or using any items mid-battle. A difficulty boost is very welcome.

Speaking of which, how have Light and Sound's type matchups changed, if at all?
>>
>>24917788

>>24918021
oh, brandish and overskill both do recoil damage. That explains their high damage.

I wasn't aware of furious recitation though, i need to get that.
>>
>>24918007
Light is untouched.

Sound is now weak to Electric but resistant to Nether. Offensively it now is SE against the new type. Overall buff I would say.

Worth noting that endgame is unbelievably lower in level than it was originally; Shinki's Shinki is an absolutely insane 17 levels lower (i.e. final boss's ace is very high by champion standards, but isn't "I am Red if he was the champion" territory)

And most of what postgame has been explored so far is much lower in level to boot (mid-high 60s, save for the Letty fight (and even THAT is 20 levels lower than it was originally) and a fight against a level 99 Lily As previously mentioned, E3 rematches are even harder than in the original game.

The level 99 Lily is wild.

>>
By the way guys, we all know the entry animations change for each type.
Has anyone seen the ones for chaos and dream?
>>
>>24919184
Basically the extra style completely changes how the base puppet works.

So Raiko went from a bulky but slow(ish in A) pivot in her P and A stances to out-and-out wall in her E stance with good speed but unusably bad offenses for instance.

Rika went from glass cannon with poor speed to Aegislash. Sukuna went from slow focus killing machine to a glass cannon. Marisa went from blazing fast sweeper to slow and bulky. ShinkiE finally focuses enough in stats to really take advantage of her BST 600 and gets no weaknesses, but has no usable STAB or any resistances to compensate.

And the typing is usually changed at least somewhat, if not entirely.
>>
>>24919235
Futo went from a frail sweeper to another frail sweeper though.
>>
>>24919248
Even then she's focused on focus rather than spread, and her typing is drastically different from her previous forms (Nether/Fighting)

Yeah, the only Extra so far that's close to the normal forms is probably Mokou.

Oh god. Waifu bias CONFIRMED.

HecatiaE

Ability is "3 Forms, 1 Body", which works similarly to Aegislash's Stance Change except she has 3 forms: she has 1 form for focus, one form for spread, and one form for status, which she'll switch to when she uses that particular type of move. All of them are BST 590 and are completely different types.

The status form (her "base" one) is Nether/Chaos type.
60/85/150/85/150/60

The focus one is Earth/Nature type
60/150/140/60/10/100

The spread one is Light/Dark type
60/60/10/150/140/100
Levelup pool:
Yin Energy
Favorable Wind
Roar
Bellow
[New Move]
Doppelganger
Stone Heart
Invisible Heart
Retaliation
Sun's Protection
Black Hole
Stone Spike
Eye of Laplace
Tumble Plant
Star Flare
Moonbow
Peach Arrow Bow
Dark Preformance

She's an Aegislash that changes types, isn't entirely glass when on the offensive on one side (although the other is worse than Deoxys-A), and when on the offensive is base 100 speed.

It's a more overpowered Aegislash, and I just finished getting over the horrible flashbacks that RikaE gave me. HEMO GODDAMNIT

Aren't both offense forms weak to the opposing attack type though?
>>

I thought Clownpiece was waifu. What are her stats?
>>
>>24919519
I mentioned that; 60/10 on the other attack type is worse than DeoxysA in that regard, which considering DeoxysA is so fragile that it runs -Special Defense natures on account of -Defense natures leaving it open to being 1-shot by the BP20 Rapid Spin...

Do remember that Protect is a status move.

Is chaos the only new type? How good is it?

At least she's weak to Fighting in both her Focus and Spread forms, but she's scarily fast for those defensive stats.
HEMOOOOOO!

And resistances/weaknesses/immunities for each form.

Status form (Chaos/Nether) is immune to fighting and wind, resists Steel, Illusion, and Chaos, and is weak to Light, Dark, and Sound.

Focus (Earth/Nature) is immune to electric, resistant to earth and light, and weak to steel and fighting.

Spread (Light/Dark) has no immunities, has double-resistance to void, resists electric, sound, and nether, and is weak to steel and fighting.

Note how every weakness that one of her forms has is covered by another except for Dark.

Oh, and Status is also weak to Nether.

Note how the weaknesses for Focus and Spread are the same and how Status has resistance/immunity to said weaknesses.

Just going to say this.

People liked viewing Aegislash thanks to the way it worked as effectively a 60/150/150/150/60 Pokemon, which in BST terms ties it with fucking Arceus.

By that logic, HecatiaE would still be 60/150/150/150/150/60, but with the option of becoming 60/150/140/60/10/100 or 60/60/10/150/140/100, and with completely different types for each one. Also it has 4 STABs to fuck things over with.

It's Aegislash crossed with Deoxys. In actual Pokemon, that would be banned to Ubers in a heartbeat. Or maybe FROM Ubers
