Why aren't you playing this right now, /vp/?
>>
I am, actually. just beat the Fighting Fortress.

how possible would it be to make a romhack of this game (or the first one) with different cards?
>>
>>24778935
So difficult that you're better off making a new game from scratch.
>>
>>24778935
There aren't any rom hack tools for the GB TCG games so you're pretty much just on your own and whatever Assembly knowledge you have.

The most overpowered deck in the game is Dark Vileplume + Vending Haunter. Bring out them both out on turn 2 and laugh as your opponent has no way to reduce the number of Trainer Cards in their hand.

Haunter almost wrecked me in some of the final battles after getting Frightened a couple times.

What deck are you guys rolling with?

I'm trolling with a Dark deck of Raichu.Clefable, and Dragonite
>Dark Raichu attack the whole bench, hitting 30 each, making a match end quickly
>Dark Clefable's ability reduce damage done to pokemon with dark in there name. Have a few Dark Clefable on the bench, making my team untouchable.
>Dark Dragonair 's ability brings Dark pokemon from my deck to my hand each turn to I can get Clefable and Raichu out quickly

It's a little tricky, but done right, its a quick match.
>>
>>24783519
Been a while since I last played but I mainly ran a Rain Dance deck.
Blastoise to dump Water energy and do damage.
Gyarados for damage or paralyze.
Dark Vaporeon for energy discarding.
>>
>>24783519
>>24784035
What's the most OP deck you can make in this game.
>>
>>24784035
I'm running it without Vaporeon. I use 4-3-4 for Blastoise, 3-2 for Gyarados, and a single Kangama. It works really well and I haven't lost a single game with it.
Before that, I was playing some haymaker decks. Especially Rocket Charmander + Charmeleon + 2x Charizard worked great. Magmar with 30 and 50 damage is also fun. Make sure to include four Plus Power.
>>
>>24778923
Because I played it 3 years ago

>>24784795
GR's Mewtwo + Dark Cleafable + Dark Dragonair.
You have go finish the game for GR's Mewtwo though.

There is also that Legendary Zapdos+ Chansey/Scoop Up from one of that Phantom decks.

I just finished up today (playing it for the second time. Played it about a year ago too). For most of the game I went with Charizard.dek with coin-flip Ninetales and 70HP Magmar just because it's what I had the cards for. By the end though I wound up with an Eeveelutions deck, with the ones that only needed colorless energy. I ran Scyther and Aerodactyl (not the anti-evolution one) for almost complete type coverage with using mostly colorless energies.

The Dark Clefable/Dragonite deck sounds fun. >>24789502 I might do some of the postgame stuff to try to complete my card album. I'm missing over 100 cards still.

After I saw this posted, I actually did. Took me a night to beat (lots of fast forwarding tho).

I'm so mad at my child self for not realizing how broken and retarded the pokémon TCG was (is) back then. But with the knowledge of value I acquired from mtg and hearthstone, MAN is this a joke.

Bill - draw 2 cards for free? ok

Computer Search - discard 2 to draw ANY card? alright

Professor Oak - lal

Back when I was a kid, trainers were shit. Powerful stage 2 mons and energy, that's what you need! Nope. I cleared the entire game on the back of a single Squirtle. If it's your only basic, you always draw it, so you energy, maybe defender, attack/pass, and draw the entire deck on turn 2 on the back of computer search, bill, challenge! (they always refuse), energy search (effectively acts as 2 cards to thin your deck) professor oak. 8-10 energy more than enough. Discard all your energies before you get to pokémon breeder and blastoise? No problem! Energy retrieval, super energy retrieval. Discard breeder and blastoise? Use the card that sends 3 cards from pile to deck (can't recall name). The point is to get to Blastoise and pump 60 damage a turn from turn 2. So you should have 2-4 breeders/blastoises depending on how paranoid you are (they can be in prizes). Add some potions, super potions, defenders, plus powers (did I mention trainers are FREE?), and you got yourself the final raidboss that can't be stopped. The phantoms are a joke. 50 wins at the machine is a joke.

This card game is a joke.
>>
>>24803456

they actually refuse even if you have a full bench. Not once have they accepted challenge! for me.
>>
>>24803600

was it not boring using the exact same deck against everything? I have four decks I switch through (fire dark flareon/rapidash, blastoise/dark vaporeon/articuno, dark clefable/GR mewtwo, venusaur/scyther tank)
>>
>>24803824

Not at all. Never grew tired of digging entire deck in a single turn. It's like you're playing mtg tendrils, but much more overpowered.

When I started the game, I didn't remember most of the cards. I saw kangaskhan and I was like, 1 energy draw a card? That's fucking ridiculous! Only to realize later on that there's so much broken shit in the game that kangaskhan is actually average LOL

Felt good playing Ultimate TCG: No Boundaries.
>>
>>24803929
>>24803600
I know, right? I build the same deck to rush through the game pretty fast. Raindance is a fun deck.
Now I'm trying different stuff since the card pool is much better than in the first game. The Dark Clefable deck proved to be quite fun.

Also, you sound like the kind of guy who would be into Cube Drafting the first gen of cards. I play that with my MtG players and they enjoy it. Kangashkan is universally liked.

I don't know about anything online. Maybe TCGOne? I'm not sure.

For my personal Cube I just asked all the Magic players at my store and most would just give me their cards for free. I got nearly all the foils from the first three editions this way. The most expensive thing were the sleeves, really.
>>
>>24804022

That sounds crazy... 1st gen cards are worth quite some money.

Really wish I was in germany right now.
>>
>>24804052
>That sounds crazy

It's been pretty great for a few months now. Things that happened:

>Charizard as last pick
>Chaneira + Kangashkan + Snorlax + Venusaur
>missing ALL coin flips for Dark Charizard's attack fuck coin flips
>someone uses Kangashkan + Bill + Oak and just decks himself out because he was too greedy
>play Eevee, opponent scoops immediately because he drafted mono-psy and couldn't get around the resistance

Drafting gen 1 is fun as hell.

>1st gen cards are worth quite some money

Nah, not really. I usually paid not more than one euro shekel for single cards, including foils. Although I went a bit overboard and bought all the promo cards I could never own myself when I was a kid. It's silly how affordable those cards are now.

>Really wish I was in germany right now.

Sealed Fortress was fun. Some of them are genuinely difficult if you're not cheesing it with turbo Blastoise and/or get dodgy starts which Mewtwo/Clefable gets on occasion. I tried beating all nine in order without losing or leaving the Fortress, you get nothing for it.

Turns out savestate abuse at GR game corner on the coinflip game can get you a LOT of present packs very quickly, I'm tempted to see if the number shown in the card album caps at 9999 or goes higher, but I shouldn't do it without finishing up everything else first incase it glitches out and you can't recieve any more cards, including missing promos.
>>
>>24804321
Yeah, I didn't get anything for beating all decks as well.

Cheesing Present Packs is a quick way to get your collection growing for building decks. I only did it after I was finished with the main game, though.

But I still can't find Imakuni. I ran into him three times by accident but couldn't find a way yet to meet him for sure.
Also, Ishihara is still in his house on the main island and talks about not wanting to trade and how I should meet him on GR island. I still need some of his trades. What do?
>>
>>24804321

it caps at 9999 I have tried it before
>>
>>24804351

It does? Can you still recieve cards after but it loses count past 9999?

Either way you saved me an hour or two
>>
>>24804344

you actually have to go to his GR island house and he will teleport there. There is also some red head in the rock club who talks about him and may be the trigger to actually get him to leave.
>>
>>24804321
I'm making a deck that it's cheesing too, but it's not Blastoise, its Dark Machamp.

You just need to get four of the "The Boss Way" and with Gust of Wind to control.
Some asshole Pokémon resist fights? Gust of Wind, and Fling the fucker back to the deck; then apply switch to a Normal (I'm using Wigglytuff at the moment) that can do more damage that Dark Machamp. Wigglytuff works because I run Machop Line, Hitmonchan and Jigglypuff, so "Do the wave" hits for 50 with just two energies (DCE and Fightan).
>>
>>24804366

you just get 9999 coins and can't hold anymore
>>
>>24804368
I traveled between both islands many times and he never was in his GR villa. I hope it's not some kind of weird bug.

It has Base Set, Jungle, Fossil, Team Rocket, promo cards, and the Japanese Vending machine cards. It's the last Pokémon TCG game produced. After that, there is only the TCGO game that has cards from 2008 on in it.

>>24814774
The cards in the game would've been two or three years old when the game would've been released. Which would've been the time they were out of print already. People would've been playing with much more recent paper cards and most likely not be interested in a game with old cards.

The challenge cup seems to come back the same way as the old game, save, then reset and check the challenge cup areas.

Battling the grandmasters requires having a link card battle 10 - 5 times, they have set up a tournament that any club leader/grandmaster/ronald will show up to. You can win multiple random promo cards for beating it.

If you just wanted more legendary pokemon cards you have to use the black box machine in the game corner to make more.

I kinda had to do that to make room since I was moving. It also helped that my friend had a need for some extra cash, and this was pretty much the only way to get it in time.

>look up Troll and Toad
>nearly every old holo costs ten dollarious

O-okay.

I got all my old holos for one euro per piece from magiccardmarket.
I'm sorry, America.

Troll and Toad is a site known for being fairly expensive for older cards and severely undercutting bulk. 8000 cards would likely go for 300-800 dollars, unless there was some high priced shit in there.
>>
>>24816681
That's why we went through all of them individually, only opting for bulk when they didn't have a choice.
The buylist was too big for their site to process, had to contact them about it.
>>

How about a Troll and Toad receipt, then?
>>
it's pretty dull, just beat round 2 of training… yawn

back to hearthstone!
>>

Yeah. I don't think it connected to the GB games though, only rental Pokémon. And there were only like 70 Pokémon programmed into it
>>
>>24814793
Yes, it had opponents and teams from live japanese tournaments.

>still playing Pokemon cards
How do people enjoy this, it's not even real pokemon, just pokemon on paper with the wrong typing.

Even as a kid, I knew pokemon cards was stupid, and I threw them in the trash.

What app do you use to play GBA games.
I just got a iphone, so I'm pretty new to it.
>>
>>24821411
My OldBoy!

The demo version will only let you got x2 speed and have one save state.
>>
>>24821411
I know on droids you can emulate with no worries but I think you still gotta jailbreak iPhones.

I have an droid, so I might as well look this up.
See other people playing GBA and SNES games on their phone, I would like to do the same.
>>
>>24821411

But I'm using Android I have no clue whats on the Apple side of things.
>>
>>24821617
Yea if you got a droids just go to your play store and download the MyBoy emulators. Also I highly recommend Drastic. 6 bucks for a good ds emulator

I downloaded, so do I make a file in my droid for emulate games, like you do on the computer, or does it already have a file for it.
>>
>>24821734
You just need the rom files.

>mfw Black Box at the GR game center lets you have 4 or more GR Mewtwos, along with any other promo if you have the things to trade in for them
>mfw savescumming on the coinflip game then trading in all the chips for a fuckton of present packs to have 8+ of everything
>mfw 100% album now

Why didn't I find this sooner?
>>
>>24825797
How does the Black Box work anyway?
>>
>>24821734
You just download the rom files from sites.
>>
>>24825809

you put in up to five cards and you get either what you put in plus some random cards, or a specific combination to trade them for rarer cards

also if anyone knows an easy file share website and wants a 100% save file with about 4K cards I'll upload it there for anyone who wants it
>>
>>24825908
Yeah, but how do I determine what I will get out of the machine?
>>
>>24825917

I used something I found on gamefaqs for what I need to generate promo cards. it doesn't tell you what it will make ahead of time

otherwise it's more or less random, usually sticking in five cards will get you those same five + random commons
>>
>>24825917

there is almost no way to tell, some cards you can make as soon as you reach the black box like the movie promo mewtwo and the legendary pokemon cards but half the promos are locked out until you beat the game.

What you get when you put in x5 cards are not often useful but x5 energy searches turn into a computer search is one of the only valuable ones I remember.
>>
>>24826125

5x energy search is glitched and turns into 1x energy search both times I did it

not like I use them anyway
>>
4 Moonstone
3 Dodrio
3 Doduo
4 Wigglytuff
4 Jigglypuff (the one that randoms bench obviously)
1 Dratini
1 Dark Dragonair
4 Clefairy Dolls
4 Full Heal Energy
4 Double Colorless
4 Recycle Energy
the rest is up to you.
