Note: the general consensus at /kspg/ is that you should torrent the game, rather than purchasing it. The developer, Squad, is incompetent, extremely mismanaged, and is very resistant to all feedback or criticism. Furthermore, the game itself is poorly made, lacks a proper development team, and is in need of a serious physics and optimization overhaul, something that Squad is likely never to give it. In fact, we at /kspg/ believe that they are planning on abandoning development of the game altogether at some point within the next year. They do not deserve your shekels.

Understand that we here at /kspg/ don't hate KSP. We've simply grown bitter over the direction (or lack thereof,) that Squad has taken it in.

Why does the "Swept Wing Type B" part have exactly half the lift-to-surface-area ratio of all of the other new wing parts. That is dumb and I hope it was an unintentional oversight that gets fixed in 0.25.1

I guess it's still cheaper than a rocket. Maybe. I can't imagine that thing flying well with cargo.

He said 1995, not 1992.
As a nerd living during these years, I'm telling you that screens were nowhere near as bad as you think. They were pretty shit to stare at for long, but they had better colour and resolution than people like to admit. LCD remained strictly inferior in everything but price and power efficiency until the mid 2000s. Until about 2007 you could reliably expect a CRT screen to have better resolution and colour than a corresponding LCD screen.

Offices swapped because of the power efficiency and the fact that you didn't have to tinker with refresh speeds to make it endurable to stare at a screen for long, and homes swapped because widescreen, despite the fact that their new LCD displays had shit resolution, colour and contrast compared to their bulky CRTs.

>As a nerd living during these years, I'm telling you that screens were nowhere near as bad as you think

What are you implying? That I wasn´t a sociophobic bullied Geek back in the 90's? We are in fucking KSP for fuck sake. Dude, I'm almost 30, and I also lived those days.

Most regular people, at least in my country, back in the second half of the 90's still had 8 year Old CRTs from the 92' extremely blurish and flickerish. There was, of course, high quality CRT screen, but they were easily over the equivalent of 200USD which in the 90's was asoundly high amount to pay for a screen. Most regular folks would buy the cheapest 15" ones with were just plain terrible. At the turn of the millenium you could still found in lots of people's houses that didn´t care much for technology, still old pentium 1 and pentium 2 computers running windows 95 together with a 15" CRT. Most of which would only display up to 1024x768. 1152x864 if you were lucky.

I myself, have today a 1440p AH-IPS dell, and as a secondary, a high quality 19" 2048x1536 85hz CRT which I still use for playing game to this very day. Bought it back in 2006 and it still blows in therms of IQ and motion fluidity any shitty TN screen.
>>
>>83052301
When he wrote average 1995 screen I assumed he meant one that was up-to-date technology-wise and of a model produced that same year. If you meant to compare it to the more commonly sold models that decade it would of course underperform, but then that was because those models had been in production since the late eighties and wouldn't in my opinion qualify as a 1995 screen as they weren't representative of the state of technology.

I have an old 1600x1200 CRT screen in my wardrobe. Bought three of them back in 98, but when my kid ended up shoving two of them off of the desk back in 08, I bought cheaper CRTs instead. I still miss playing on them, they had 90Hz sync and incredible response time.

I tried this game again just now.

I gave up before this whole "career mode" thing started.

It gave me some missions; test the regular SRB while landed, test the decoupler while landed, test the first space engine while landed, test the mini SRB thing while landed, test the launch clamps while landed.

I built a shitty thing with all of those on the launch pad. I right clicked them all, and it only gave me the actions to use them.
So I did.

None of the missions completed even though they had the prerequisite boxes checked off.

what does squad actually want me to do to complete these?

also how2webm with decent quality
>>
>>83053229
You have to toggle them through the staging system. So press spacebar and they should all complete.
It's retarded, no idea why.
>>
>>83053229

You don't activate them I think, just 'test' them.

I haven't done missions like that since career came out.

I think Squad and Porkjet may have really missed a trick here of what the MK2 could have been.

It's great they did the flippable design, as it's made it a lot more versatile and that was a good call.

But an interesting problem is that the clamp-o-tron for instance forces monoprop to be used too. Now I know I can turn it off, but what of the space?

I'm also stuck using external gear bays. See where I'm going?

I wonder if it might be neat to import these into Blender and create an even better version with the same philosphy as B9, that different versions of the bays can be cycled.

he did hard mode career, quit after three failed missions with the phrase

"I actually have to read all the things now"

"harder difficulties are perhaps not for everyone"

Switches to the SST-Nowhere stock vehicle, goes on a 10 minute rant about how it's designed to be shitty, is obvious he built it in the editor and never actually flew it.

entire time he's ranting, he's hovering at 8k, flying in a straight line. 10 minutes.

at 7:38 decides he's had enough, Squadcast ends with Yarg saying "I don't even know what to say" and Max promising they'll be better next week. Signs off without warning, Squad scrambles for 15 mins to put the anyone who's available on.

Oh and Yarg's mike was getting cut out the entire squadcast by max's toaster, meaning all the viewers could really understand is max groaning.

And Max said the developers word "8-10 hours a week"

bit slower than I'd hoped but the fact I'm lifting the MK2 AND a MK2 cargo bay this way probably says something about how overpowered ion engines are. Guess they're still fun though in their own way.

You aren't flying with ions. You are exploiting the infi-glide glitch. Take all the ions and solar panels off and make it a glider. You will still be able to fly as long as you want.

Control surfaces work by providing thrust. That is how shitty the aerodynamics are in this game.
