Mario 64 kind of definitively shits on sonic adventure mechanically. Mario moves a lot smoother, the camera, though not perfect isn't nearly as bad as adventures, and although homing attack was a really good idea, Jumping tends to feel weird and it's really easy to careen out of control.Sonic Adventure could've been amazing with just a bit tighter controls, better camera and slightly more thought out level design.

Honestly? I really don't think a Chao garden game is so viable no matter how you design it. Sonic is just not so popular anymore and I can't imagine Chao having a following outside of fans, so I don't think a game such as that would have the potential to reach a huge audience and build a big playerbase. .cbz files are just zip files that follow a standard so that comic book readers like cdisplay or sumatra can read them.
Sometimes .cbr is used as well, but that uses the rar archive format instead of zip, which is proprietary, and overall more of a burden to deal with.
