They ended up settling out court, which is how we ended up with the reboot happening.
But had Archie not dropped the ball early by underestimating Penders or had SEGA not been busy buying Atlus that they couldn't even send over a document saying "We own all this no matter what anyone says," Penders would've been crushed, and probably charged with perjury on top of it, based on the judge's words in that document.

In Penders' time on the comic, Scourge was just Sonic wearing a leather jacket, literally named Evil Sonic. Anything from when Penders sued up to the reboot can't really be used as evidence for the current situation. Despite being referred to as an event, the Pendering was really a long drawn out process with stages of the writers pulling out certain characters they were certain Penders would want (such as Hershey because she was named after his cat) up until the most obvious effects of the Pendering pre-reboot which was Endangered Species and the Chaotix arc in Universe at that time, both of which were being rewritten and having new covers drawn after the previews were already released. Then the Super Genesis Wave just got it over with and rebooted the universe.

What's really strange is that at one point in the Knuckles comics under Penders, it's implied Locke himself is somewhat of an outlier in the Brotherhood and that he's gone against them, but nothing's done with it. Also

He's repeatedly said that he's open to "negotiations" and that Sega/Archie are the ones stopping him from giving the characters back/him working on the comic instead. Also, when he saw that the comic's numbers weren't that high, he "offered" to let Archie use his Robotnik vs Dark Legion story. It's as stupid as it sounds

Yeah. I think Scourge was a pretty cool evil sonic concept. I mean we could have an electric hog called Surge, or something, but that short S word descriptor name design was great. Plus green was a good colour choice. It linked him to the emeralds somewhat and was a colour not really used in the official games so much (asides Jet).
I think Scourge filled a neat role in the books, I'm curious to see if Metal will be the replacement in some way.

Just once I'd love to see something like this come back. Like a whole year we have a build up of some ominous threat and it's built up to be eggman, and then BAM it's Scourge ripping holes in dimensions just to fuck up Sonic's shit, and it turns out he's ruining the multiverse but he doesn't care, he's gonna chase Sonic down to fuck with him even if he leaves holes in ever dimension he goes through to do it.
And the big end arc is like SCOURGE OF THE MULTIVERSE or some shit, and by the time Scourge shows up in postboot comics he's barely recognisable, because he's retconning his own origins and design each time he gets closer. We still basically end up with the jacket and shades, but it's used to erase any penders connection whilst making him his own thing.
The idea of a nightmare creature from a long dead timeline coming back to haunt you would amazing given the nature of the series. A literal dark ages character desperately tearing their way into modern continuity? I would read the SHIT outta that.
Also, do you think Sonic still remembers Scourge? Or at least has nightmares he barely remembers about getting replaced by a version of himself that had a really bad day?

Got Lost World on PC, but at random points after booting it up it'll freeze, the screen will go black and then the sound will come back, I can still control Sonic but the screen remains black.
Google shows a lot of people with this problem but no fixes for it, has there been any?

Not using the controller effectively limits what you can do with gameplay, which limits fun. Obviously you shouldn't need to memorize a novel just to play the game and some control methods (waggle, gyro, etc.) need to be used delicately and only when they make sense, but if you seriously think a 3D game only needs one button then feel free to go back to the early 90s rock you crawled out from.
