Evolve uses an asymmetrical structure where five players, four playing as hunters and one as the monster, battle against each other in an industrialized alien planet called Shear.
Stage 2 is the transition to Free To Play + a lot of gameplay changes.

Every week, four hunters (one of each class) and one monster will be in the free rotation. There are currently 24 Hunters and 7 Monsters in total, though some are variations of others. By playing the character tutorials, you unlock one hunter (Markov) and one monster (The Goliath) to keep forever.
Additional monsters, hunters, perks, and skins are unlocked by earning silver keys. Silver keys are earned by playing the game, leveling up, or getting login bonuses. Currently you can't actually buy silver keys, presumably so they can test the unlock rate, but that's coming later.
There is also a monthly login bonus punch card. You get one punch for each day you log in. Beyond silver keys, this can directly award new Hunters and Skins.

Bad! Banshee missiles are much too slow to be effective, and firing them close range is a tad innaccurate.
You'll want 2 in lightning strike and 1 in chain/spiral at stage 1, then equally distribute your stage 2 points to each one of those.

Sometimes the monster also can just be too good. I remember playing a lot of matches where the team gave their best and the monster was just more relentless in combat or smart outside of it.
Being the medic is really hard sometimes, even in games that went good and the team won, you still wonder if you could have done more at some points in the match. Since the trapper's dome is now universal, i imagine the monster will go after medics even harder than before too.

They should only dome you once for the entire match. You should be able to get to stage 2 before they get you the first time, and if/when they do dome you once you escape you're fucking gone for the rest of the match.
You need to wait until they scan you, sneak around obstacles the other way as they try to cut you off, and as soon as you're past the choke point they were going for you dash 3 times and hit 1 and you're across the map. Decoys can be sent when sneaking for added lulz.

You tell them that you are not good with the class, and ask if someone wants to change, then you just un-lock and lock a different class if the other player un-locks his class too.
Changing without stating was also part of the pre-game meta, at least before. Usually if me and my two friends saw that a person wasn't saying anything or picking a class someone of us un-locked our pick to see if the random player was really interested in playing something else, since even though we wanted to play a particular class every now and then, each one of us could basically play any class if it was actually needed.

The key to getting ahead in this game is to buy a founders key from G2A or something for 10 bucks to unlock all but Gorgon and the tier 5/6 hunters. You also get a handful of keys and perks, most notably the gold perks.
Then, you should focus on leveling up every hunter to 11. That way you unlock all the bronze perks, and you can see which hunters unlock which silver perks, and play accordingly.
Only ever spend keys on gold perks and maybe Gorgon if you like her. I personally don't and regret the purchase. Don't buy the tier 5/6 hunters until they go on free rotation and you know for sure you'll enjoy them.

I'm quite fond of Cabot. What makes you say he's questionable? The Damage Amp is really useful in pubs and so is the Dust Tagging when your Trapper is braindead.
On that note Trapper is possibly my favorite role but I still have to buy some more Trappers. Only have Crow and honestly, I'm probably playing him wrong because he doesn't feel all that effective. Sure the birb is incredibly useful, but it feels to me like you have to choose between doing any damage or crowd control, and neither of his seem quite as good as the other trappers' anyways. When the map is so important to track the monster and takes up 35% of the screen it's easy to run into something you shouldn't, especially if you're using the map as a primary source of direction and only using your pereferial vision to climb shit.

Crow can rotate weapons if you're charging your shots. 3 or 4 stasis gun shots, whip out the rifle, do a little bit of health damage, back to stasis gun, repeat
Griffin's good if you want to really piss off the monster and Abe can rotate out just as well with stasis grenades/better burst damage

try to learn which players either have the potential to beat a monster (the decent supports/medics even if your team fails) and who still suck when you reach 30, you will probably run into them quite often

That's why I said in pubs tho, feels like one of the leading reasons why matches are lost, at least matches I'm in, is that hunters don't give two shits about self preservation and just throw themselves at the monsters, and thus it becomes more a matter of trying to out-damage the monster to scare him off. Admittedly more defensive supports can pull off better plays with a team that has any sense of teamplay and foresight, but for pubs, turning on the amp and watching the monster melt is quite the tide changer.

The arming time on Maggie's traps is super long after the nerf, it's impossible to time them to waste the monster's traversals and abilities like leap and charge, unlike with Griffin where it's manual and hitscan so you can time it perfectly. A lot of the time they will also get destroyed just from random monster flailing and splash damage. The harpooning is also a lot more inconsistent than Griffin's because they are static traps whereas with Griffin you can constantly reposition yourself in relation to your teammates, the monster, and the terrain which is an absolutely huge advantage.
Cabot's damage amp is not enough to justify using him over other Support characters who bring more more important utility or life-saving abilities. Even if we're talking strictly about pubs with really bad players, you can make much more of an impact as Sunny or Hank than you can as Cabot.
