MC will apparently have different, craftable outfits that will allow them to use different Codecasts (spells to assist the playable servant), but we don't know if they will actually show up on the player's model.
The biggest reason why ZTD seems so off is because it turned into a movie.
The dialogue boxes are completely removed, and while it's not really bad, it does feel unfitting for the game.

This. There are a lot of parts that are pretty good (the Stranded Pair fragment is one of the most memorable ones), but the ending ruins the entire game's appeal. I think ZTD benefited from the movie choice, even if it did become a little long winded at times. VLR's stills always made me think about those early awkward 3D porn images when they'd come up. The most tragic thing in ZTD is that the english dub is much worse than VLR's imo, but they weren't so bad that I'd use the japanese dub.I did switch between them a lot early on and I got a big kick out of the japanese version of the axe scenario.
