What is the centrifuge suppose to do?
Welcome aboard, captain. All systems online.
>>147403791
Might be for biological samples and work in tandem with the Transfuser.
>>147403791
Probably part of the bio analysis system, where you need to process the DNA before injecting new stats into yourself.
>>147403791
analyzes blood samples for the transfuser
Need an X-ray device that you wear over your goggles and can see through objects and stuff.
>>147403791
>>147403896
>>147404021
God I hope its for a dart gun.
Is there a purpose to the Fire Extinguisher after you start the game? The fires on the Aurora are a joke to walk around, and the only other hot stuff I've come across was a vent that roasted some fish for me.
>>147405118
it can push you around underwater, that's about it
I think they mention doing something with it on their trello
Finally got my Cyclops
Can I park it somewhere like with the Seamoth->Moonpool?
I don't want to leave it outside while its battery dies
>>147405452
As long as it's not moving, it won't use any power.
Also, put a Cell Charger in there, it'll charge two batteries for each one it uses to charge them.
fuck I have to lug everything to a new base. Gonna start tomorrow maybe. Will the new update break saves at all?
When ever I try to put in screenshots they come up as blank squares, when I take one ingame it does the same. What do? I can't find anything about anyone else having this problem.
>>147405695
Yes, it'll break every save.
>>147405712
try alt+enter and then screenshot?
didn't have this problem so not sure
>>147405695
>Will the new update break saves at all?
it usually does. Just use the console and build a new base when it hits.
>>147405513
Will do, thanks
Is the cyclops indestructible by monsters?
There are places I have yet to visit because Leviathans
>>147406027
It can be forced below its crush depth, otherwise, no.
>>147406027
It can be damaged my depth and collision I think, but creatures don't attack it. It gets cracks in it that you can repair with the welder, the same as bases.
Hopefully they'll expand the size of the map in the future and give us a small VTOL flying machine for transport around the various islands.
>>147406074
>>147406829
nice, fuck leviathans
one more dumb question: where do I get a cyclops pressure compensator?
>>147403527
What is there to do after you build a cyclops and aren't interested in building bases?
Also is this game really being released next month? Theres a lot that needs to be added/fixed...
Okay, I repaired everything in the life pod and I've built myself a little two-room base on the ocean floor nearby. So other than building some neat stuff to put in there (because the limestone won't give me any fucking silver lately), what's next, friends? And don't say the heat signature in the distanceThat's TOO for away and TOO scary
H E L P
My submarine has gone airborn, gravity has ceased to exist and my submarine has ascended to a higher plain with me inside.
>>147407402
time to explore the space
>>147407402
I JUST WANTED TO EXPLORE
>>147407245
There's silver in the stone all along the red grass area.
>>147407167
scan the fragments for it
>>147407245
Make a radiation suit and repair the reactor in the crashed ship.
Scan fragments and build a submarine.
Silver comes from sandstone not limestone, you can find some in the red grass areas.
>tfw beached your Cyclops
Do seamoth pressure compensators not stack?
>>147407802
use the terraformer to free it?
>>147407893
I jumped out in my seamoth and it launched the cyclops free
>>147407856
No, you have to upgrade the compensator with the modification station.
>>147403527
Has anyone ever made use of the dive reel?
>>147407740
>>147407753
Thanks. I just need silver because I'm prioritizing getting a fabricator in my base so I don't have to make trips back to the pod all the time.
I also made some preemptive expansions to the base because the materials were clogging up my inventory.
Anything in particular I should be building before other things?
I wanna get this seabase party started right.
The Seamoth turns slowly, and I've got my sensitivity up high as fuck on my mouse. Is it supposed to turn so slow?
>>147408321
It has a maximum turn speed, but it still turns pretty fast imo.
0-4 Work on getting dat Cyclops and expand my base a bit
5-9 Play Stonehearth
After ten hours I finally started my base, have yet to get all cyclops blueprints though.
>>147408135
Get a health kit fabricator and build an alien containment. Slap 3 of the same fish in there and they'll breed for easy food.
Put my base on the edge of the shallows. Might relocate to the mushroom forest or the blood kelp area when the patch hits. I'm gonna miss it though. Color customization when?
>>147408690
Other anon here, for food I got melon seeds from the island, they sprout insanely fast, and heal both food and water, im never out of melons. Forevery 4 melons I eat, I cut one for 4 seeds
>>147398928
I lost my shit.
>>147408858
You didn't get the orange fruit from the island? You don't even have to replant that one, they grow on trees.
>>147408928
shit nope i didnt.
>>147408858
The lantern fruit are better. They give you less food/water but they don't have to be replanted.
>seamoth explodes inside of Cyclops
Top tier game
>>147407402
Amazing, tell me if you see any reapers from up there.
>>147409038
Literally how?
>>147408659
ANON NO YOU TOOK TOO LONG TAKING YOUR SCREENSHOT YOU'RE DROWNING
>Save game
>Literally fill my inventory with Airsacks
>Make all the water
>Go to put it in a locker
>Game crashes
First time since I bought it that it crashed, and it picks when I finally find more than one Airsack in a game day. Fuck.
So what are the unassigned areas going to be?
>Not playing multiplayer mode
>>147409330
make a large aquarium and put 2 airsacks in it
wait a day
gratz you got infinite water
>see this
wat do
>>147409567
embrace the void
>>147409567
feed it peepers
>>147409567
Do a 360 and putt away.
>>147409567
arm the torpedoes
>>147403527
Large rooms when? Large alien containment when? Sub that can fit 2 cyclops inside its "hangar bay" when?
>>147409215
he probably went deep with the moth docked inside. The cyclops doesn't protect the seamoth from the water pressure with it's own crush depth
>>147409442
lost river
I literally cannot use the cyclops
>controls like an 18 wheeler
>fat ass runs into everything
>can't see shit while driving it
>drops my fps to like 8
>>147410960
You have cameras and a collision alarm
>>147410960
I thought the same thing at first. I kept trying to use it as a giant upgrade to the seamoth so I tried to drive it everywhere. It's just supposed to serve as a mobile base that you park far off and dive with your seamoth and exosuit in the next patch.
>>147409567
Smugly blink your lights at it and zap it with the Perimeter Defense System when it gets too close
>>147411159
The no fps makes it good for not even that, for me
>>147409442
is there ever any reason to go to the sand dunes. At least with the mountains you have to go there to get the remaining cyclops fragments. Theres literally nothing in the dunes aside from sand sharks every 5 square feet and shit tons of reapers
>>147410960
>drops my fps to like 8
That's a nasty bug but it can be fixed.
The solution is to destroy your Seamoth and build a new one. Apparently if you have a Seamoth and you do construction something weird happens that somehow makes piloting the Cyclops kill fps.
Just take all your Seamoth upgrades and power cell to your inventory and destroy the Seamoth and spawn a new one by typing 'spawn seamoth' in the console.
>>147409442
I hope they plan on expanding the map at some point. Even if its just different arrangements of the same biomes.
Once you get the seamoth the game really loses the feeling of being an endless expanse.
>>147411802
I remember reading on the official forums that they are toying around with the idea of a randomly generated world outside the main play area.
>>147411916
I can't see that happening if they remove the voxel terrain.
>>147408028
FEAR ME THESEUS FOR I AM THE MIGHTY MINOTAUR!You use it to track where you've gone in wrecks and maze like caves.
So I have a pressure compensator mk 3 and a storage module for my seamoth, what other two upgrades should I absolutely have for the seamoth?
>>147409442
Thats an old map, west unassigned is now sea treader land.
>>147408845
Go to Sparse reef instead,
>>147412465
Also doesn't have the Blood Kelp near mountains.
They really have to add more useless base items, blueprints, more sea monsters that are actually scary (that bigass blue thing is the scariest because of its size, leviathan is a joke)
The game loses its magic after getting your cyclops as there's nothing left to do
Also bigger buildings so I can make a comfier base
>>147412418
Solar panels and a defense field or torpedoes.
Or you can stack storage modules and use it for longer gathering trips.
>>147412418
>solar charger
>defense system
>pressure compensator
>sonar
storage has too little space to make much of a difference imo
>>147412607
Thanks, I went with solar panels and defense field.
>>147412571There is some one on the planet hunting survivors...
>>147412746
ok now I'm spookedeven if its not true
>>147413034
Why do you think TWO ships crashed?
Where is the island at? I want that sweet, sweet lantern fruit.
>>147413098
but there's only one big ship, the aurora?
>>147413134
look at the ship's engines. head south-west in the direction they point at. you will see it
>>147413098
The Degasi crashed first.
Three survivors lived on the floating islands.
>>147413134
use this map
>>147412569
basically just swim to the opposite direction of the ship's butt and you will see the island
>>147413148
Then who made the fucking old bases? Have you not even read the PDAs?Both ships were shot down by something on the planet, it makes me think of the big bugs from starship troopers.
>>147413148
Yeah the data logs, there was another ship that came before yours.
>>147413148
another ship crashed before the aurora. the old bases you find on the island were built by the survivors
>>147413034There are logs for survivors you can't find, each pod is broken into roughly the same way. the hunters have logs of when they killed them and know about you, but not where you are.
>>147413278
>>147413297
>>147413315
my bad, haven't read the data logs
also the stuff on the island had to be build by someone
Disgusting creature deserved it.
>>147413410
>>147413278Didn't some one say it was the warpers in the last thread, like they were the old survivors or something?
>>147413445
fuck youI also just noticed that their face is literally a little gasmask
>go to base
>build some new stuff
>do fish farming stuff
>turn raw materials into stuff I'll use later
>grab my medkit
>"huh nothing left to do here"
>"I'll just uh, I'll just take an extra minute to think, make sure I've done everything"
>"M-Maybe I could build a new thing over there"
>"I-I can leave any time I want, I'm not scared"
>>147413615
Do you? Do you really?
>>147413615
just get out of your base, there's literally nothing under sea that can hurt you, I promise
>shoot reaper with stasis rifle
>stab him with hot knife
>freeze him again
>go through 2 hot knives
>he's dead jack
Guess I won the game?
>>147414156
That's precious,
>>147414340
someone has to make an edit of a reaper behind a keyboard typing and sweating
like the spider and mozart ones
>>147414736
Nah fuck that, I like the idea of a bunch of Harpoon chuckers going blooba blooba outside of your habitat, sharpening their harpoons and preparing to make you culturally enriched.
Tentacles up, don't shoot.
Fish lives matter.
Anyone have a Reefback in their aquarium? I can't find any eggs, but I want to know how laughably small they are in captivity.
>>147414736
Someone already has.
>>147413516It's just a theory at the moment based off talk from the PDAsWe'll find out though once they start adding in more of the story stuff
Okay I did it I left my base and went as far opposite the Aurora as I could get
I got a diamond and then got bit by something I didn't manage to see before I ran all the way back home as fast as possibleAnd now I have a radiation suit and I'm too scared to head near the Aurora even though I know that's where all the good fragments are
>>147415645
protip: you only have to get near the aurora if you want to get the cyclops blueprints
you can do everything else without approaching it
>>147415956
>if you want the Cyclops
Well I don't know if I'd even call that an if
Anything that can help me go around without screaming in terror once I'm too far from my base is something I needI also have a terrible sense of direction and I at least always know where the Aurora is
>>147416352
If you can't use the angle the Aurora lies from where you are, and how big it looks from where you are, to work out where you are and where you want to go, you better start learning.
"I can't" is not a good excuse to not learn.
>>147416352
In all honesty if direction is a issue it might pay to get a compass, it helps a lot and I think all you need is copper?
>>147416474
Magnetite.
That's on the mountains, so no need to fly by the Aurora to get it.
>>147416412
>>147416474
I'm mostly just debating on whether or not to use a map for reference. If I can define an area to where it would be on a map I could handle it but I'm not sure if I wanna tread on the exploration part of the game like that.
>>147416589
Honestly I wouldn't. After a bit you'll get used to some of the locations/landmarks.
Could pay to keep some beacons for areas of interest though. That way if you find something you want to go back to you have a direct marker.
>>147409567
scan it
I can get the game to run fine in seamoth or just as a player, but if in spend too much time in the cyclops I get a blue screen, oy vey. I'm assuming it's just that the size of the vehicle makes the game run hotter which overheats my sapphire HD 6870. But hey maybe the removal of Terra forming will help
been circling aurora for quite a while now, where is the entrance?
>>147416589
Get a beacon and drop it next to your base
Now you have 3 reference point, BEACON, POD, AURORA
With these 3 you'll never get lost because you'll always be able to locate yourself if you get to the surface and check those 3 spots
>>147401769
I did.
I quit the game after getting stuck. Came back this morning to destroy the coral as some anon had suggested, but when I loaded the game, the Seamoth had just clipped through the tube and was waiting on the seabed.
Everything went better than expected.
so is the power efficiency upgrade module only in the experimental version?
>>147412173
Did they say they were removing the voxel terrain?
>>147403527
so is this some kind of underwater space station 13?
>>147420034
No, Barotrauma is though
New update WHEN
>>147419817
It's in the regular game too. You can find one on the aurora
Am i going to miss something if i pirated this shit and surely i'm not going to buy it unless it leaves EA?
There are no achievements and no workshop so far, so why should i buy the game?
>>147422432
exactly tho, in the aurora core room where you weld stuff, I can't find it there
the console that supposedly contains it is empty
>>147423005
Nothing, you will miss nothing
And you "shouldn't" buy the game, people who buy it just want to financially support the developer because they like the concept
I bought it too because its a really cool game so far and want to see it finished
I also had a rule for myself to never buy an EA game ever again after DayZ (still not finished after years) but /v/ shilled this game too hard for me and finally gave init was worth though
>>147423419
I mean, it looks kinda cool, and it promises a lot, and i remember noticing this game like 2 years ago and they made a lot of progress, but i don't feel like buying it right now in Early Access, gonna wait for a bit more shite to be in it, then i will probably pick it, because so far it is the most original survival game out there.
>>147423005
There are achievements btw
>>147423686
Yes, 3
1 of them is about sending feedback
>>147423749
Right, but the structure is there to add more whenever they add the story
>fishtank is overcrowded
>avoid dealing with it as looking at it drops my FPS
>come back and they're all fucking dead, only the sandshark is scooting around and giving me a "hhhehh" look
God damnit
don't die on me
Idea for biome: The Upside Down Reef
It is an ecosystem that grows on the ceiling of a massive rock outcropping that overlooks the void. Everything in this zone is basically flipped; even the flatfish that live here have eyes on their ventral sides instead of dorsal ones.
Escaping creatures can also be pretty tricky because flying into the "sky" takes you closer to crush depth. Dangerous emissions or spores of plants and stationary fauna are usually shot straight down before they "fall" back upwards to the ceiling, so the player will have to watch both above and below to not get accidentally stuck to some sticky carnivorous gelatin ball thing.
Bases built here may attach to the ceiling and function as normal, but there is an option to flip the bases around 180 as well and install artificial gravity generators so that you can now walk on the same plane as the rest of the biome. Sticky Boots of some kind can do this for seawalks too.
>>147426997
>Sticky boots for seawalks
You can just spin around though
>>147408659
What's the big room at the front of the shot called?
>>147426997
That's real retarded, sir.
Flooded caverns with all the flora and fauna clinging to the ceiling instead of the floor might be cool, but flipped gravity makes no sense.
>>147427676
that's the moonpool
>>147427703
There's no flipped gravity, just fauna and flora that stick to the ceiling because there is no floor.
>>147427117
Then you get dizzy without magic technology thingmabobs that keep you balanced while upside down. Remember, your air-filled organs are all on your upper half.
>>147405407
>>147405118
I read that they're gonna plan to have fires in your underwater bases in case of damage, that the extinguishers will be needed for it
>>147409442

Damn too late
Is it just me or is the solar panel upgrade for the Seamoth not worth it? A single cell is already enough for it to do laps around the map and base solar power is completely free. Carrying around a storage locker instead seems like a better option and those can hold spare power cells anyway at only 1 square each.
>>147429094
I use the Depth upgrade, the torpedo, the scanner, and the electeric field upgrades.
Your moonpool recharges your seamoth, I dunno about the cyclops.
But if you're exploring deep down I don't think the solar upgrade would be worth anything.
>>147429068
perfect
>browse /vg/
>find this general from a game i picked a long time ago now
How many threads old is it ?
Andhow do you deal with the fear of the deep ? It's eating me inside
>>147429094
I use the SPDS, Torps, storage and depth upgrade on Seamoth. If you have a small base with a Power Cell charger/moonpool if you're feeling lavish you'll never need the solar charger.
I keep emergency rations in the storage locker. 2x Big Filtered Water and 2x Nutrient Blocks and a space Battery and Power Cell. They've been useful exactly once when I got stuck in a hole while waiting for a Reaper to fuck off.
I wish the biomes were bigger. As soon as you get the seaglide you can zoom through each biome in 30 seconds or less and the game loses a lot of its wonder.
I've found every fragment for the Cyclops hull and every fragment for the Seamoth mod station but of all the fucking things, I can't find a fifth Seamoth fragment
I fucking seaglided all the way to the Aurora and back
>>147430107
That's quite alright lad, but now all the carnivores in the game will chase you for three times the distance to match the new map size.
>>147430676
I'm fine with this
>>147430220
There's an area where you can collect every seamoth part
Its basically in a blueish area with red grass, marked on pic related, right above the green grassy/creepwine area (hopefully that's the correct location)
I always find about 7-8 parts there whenever I start a game
The depth is around 70m
>I'm a Marine Bio major
>Had this game on my wishlist and just bought it
>Fucking love the ocean, doesn't scare me that much
>See everyone is scared about the deep
Let's see how this turns out in the end
Just got the game in the summer sale, been playing it today and have most upgrades, about to get the cyclops. Does the game open up any more? Seems like there's nothing left to do now except finish some blueprints and make a better base.
>>147431628
I thought people who got spooked were pussies, but then I got it and realized why people found it spooky. Seeing and Experiencing are two entirely different things with this game.
Where the fuck do I find the pressure compensator fragments for the Cyclops?
Wiki says Blood Kelp Crash and Grand Reef Crash, but there's nothing there, and other places say mushroom forest, but I haven't found any there either.
>>147431691
Once you get the cyclops there's pretty much nothing left to do but explore the deepest biomes.
>>147431942
hmm, ok. Realise it's early access but I'm not really understanding the rave reviews it's had. How long have you been playing it?
>>147432198
About ten hours. I just got the cyclops but I haven't explored even half the biomes yet, which will be another hour or two of content. I also plan on making some bases in the depths and on the two islands so that'll take some more hours.
It's not bad for the on sale price but there's a lot missing right now
>Load my save
>Alt tab so it can load while I do other stuff
>tab back to see the progress
>has not loaded a thing (Loading Escape Pod is the first thing I see loading, and it is the same thing I see five minutes later)
So, am I just having a slow day, or does it seriously not load unless it's the active window?
>>147432454
Works fine for me, although I'm using borderless
>>147432454
Needs to be active
>>147432454
It doesn't load if you alt+tab, I had the same issue
The counter even goes up if you alt+tab fast during that
>>147432367
Yeah, it needs a lot doing. Performance is absolute shit, too. ah well, might as well wank the evening away instead.
>>147429094
Dept Mk3, Electric, Storage and Hull.
Jesus christ, all that fucking glare on the Cyclops' window makes seeing where I'm going an absolute chore.
>>147416551
There's also a lot on the shroom cave.
>>147429879
I don't know how many threads exactly but it's fairly new.
And yes we're all scared of the deep dark
>>147429879
This is literally the third thread. The game's picked up a ton of traction from the steam sale
>Work late into the night working on my base
>Decide its time for bed
>Wake up and remember there is no autosave feature
Holy moly this game is fucking incredible. Bought it off the sale. Just explored this nearby deep cave using a seaglide sp,e air tanks and the dive reel. Found a massive jelly thing with an abandoned seabase. Some snake thingy swam out of the jelly thing. I haven't has so much terrifying fun just exploring shit since I don't even know. This is so weird because the ocean is one of my biggest fears.
I hear there're bigger things out there. Oh please, baby. Tell me more. How big is the map? How much more will I find? Can I go even deeper? Is there even a story?
Actually I don't even know if I want any of those questions answered.
>>147435848

>>147436553
I don't know if it's true but I remember reading that we know more about the greater cosmos beyond our planet than we do about our own ocean. Also I, for one, freak the fuck out if I swim out on a lake or beach and my feet can't touch anything below me and I can't see anything down there
>>147436737
>swim in lake
>can't see into water because its too dirty
>algae hits my feet
>instant heart attack
never again
Gonna have some freaky reskinned fish in the Inactive Lava Zone.
>>147412746
why would you say that? the only thing keeping me sane in this game was the notion that the aggressive fish are just animals doing their thing. That they can't hurt me in my own home or if I swim far enough away.
After The One Ring was destroyed, Sauron was reincarnated as a goofy alien fish.
Imagine having to clean these bastards off your base every so often.

You're gonna run out of melons eventually like that.
Just played for the first time. Currently have everything in the starting pod repaired and only managed to die twice due to my idiocy.
I've got the lead lined suit, is it a good idea to go to the big ship in the distance now? I tried once, but by the time I got there it was nighttime, I couldn't see an entrance and I got eaten by a leviathan.

>>147440093
You'll need a welder to repair the engines, that
s the main reason for going to the Aurora. Also two upgrade modules for the Seamoth and Cyclops, but don't get killed going back home or you'll lose them.
>>147437790

If you want to enter the Aurora without getting eaten by big ugly monsters then try swimming straight then keep about 10 meters distance from the ship and swim to the left until you find a hole
>>147440410
>>147440754
Allright, thanks. I'll give it another go later, though I'm skeptical about my chances since I have a habit of staring at the pretty visuals and not noticing the big ugly monsters. Is there anything neat to do in the Aurora besides fixing the engines and getting the two upgrades?
I've also got a thing on my hud directing me to a heat signature. Should I tackle that, or leave it be for now?
>>147431628
It honestly just takes time. Everyone has a natural fear of the ocean and the unknown. I was shitting myself while playing this game now I don't give a fuck, reapers aren't even spooky. If the ocean doesn't bother you too much from the get go it won't be a big deal for you.
>>147410790
But I do that all the time with no explosions.
>>147441059
There's a Seamoth and a Cyclops upgrade module on Aurora, to be honest you should build a Seamoth and some basic base before getting there or at least that's how I did
>directing me to a heat signature
Get a ship that can go below 300-400 meters because those are pretty deep, you can check them later if you want to
>>147441059
>>147441485
oops I didn't notice that you already know about the upgrade modules, there's nothing extra there, some chests with random loot but they are probably batteries, water, power cells, etc
>>147441485
>>147441651
I guess I'll hold off on that then.
Any tips on which direction to go in the beginning, starting from the pod? Also, on where to build my first base?
>>147442357
Your first base should be at the border between two biomes. There's a nice section where the Shallows, Kelp Forest, and Grassy Plateau all intersect and it had pretty much all the materials you would want for the early game.
Guys, I got my Seamoth stuck and exploded in the cave entrance in one of the kelp forests, the one near the lava chute. There's no way to retrieve the depth module, is there?
And then I made a second Seamoth that promptly exploded about 10 seconds into its maiden flight back to the moonpool because the game decided to hitch right as I was about to pass a small bump and this buggy game probably multiplied its velocity several times over on impact. Shoulda built the pool one story higher...
>>147443003
If you feel like the bugs fucked you up, have some recompensation and type 'spawn seamoth' in the console
Is there any way I can make the Cyclops' lighting not shit? The fucking Seamoth has better lights than this thing.
>there's already someone bitching on the forums that there's no female playable character
I'm all for female characters but in the current state of the game that shouldn't be the main focus
>>147443858
How can they tell the current main character isn't female?
>>147443241
No worries, I made a third one about a minute later. Having a nice base to live in makes me take life a bit more easy. The most unfortunate thing about all this is that all of it will be gone when the terraforming patch hits.
On a side note, I think I know what might be causing the regeneration effects I see sometimes whenever I take damage. It is possible that medkits will record overheals and store this extra health as regeneration later. I know that having high water and food did not trigger regeneration nor does staying in a base or ship, so it must have been something else. That's my best guess.
>Carrying a good few medkits, waters, and some food
>Seamoth at full health and charge
>Equip signal for the island
>Game crashes
>Now my signal is gone
I saved before it crashed, and I still lost my signal. Which way from the aurora is the island? And am I in danger of finding a Reaper along the way?
>>147445547
Head to the southeast part of the map furthest on the stern of the ship. Once you hit the grand reef poke your head out of the water and it should be close by.
>>147445547
>Which way from the aurora is the island?
There's two. The mountain island and the floating island.
The mountain island runs parallel to the bow of the aurora. Keep heading in the direction the aurora is pointed from your pod.
The floating island is the opposite. The engines of the aurora point towards it, so go in the opposite direction that the aurora is pointed.
And am I in danger of finding a Reaper along the way? There's one near the mountain, but the floating island is safe. Just don't look down, the floating island is a looooong way up from the sea floor.
>>147445941
>>147445951
Alright, found the floater one. That's what I was looking for, thanks.
Has anyone started a sea base that covers the the length of the map or at least opens up to most of the biomes? I might start work on something like that when the patch hits.
>tooling around in my Cyclops behind the Aurora
>can hear a reaper losing its marbles but can't see it

Does the seamoth regen energy? or can I shove another power cell in there?

>>147447732

>Building a Moon Pool destroys terrain, flattening it
>Bright idea of flattening a large area
>Can't place Moon Pool on top of flat area, only in it, further erasing the land
I think I may have fucked up a bit. Still, base building is comfy in this game once you have materials.
>>147454828
Story hasn't been implemented yet. Just build your basic tools and start making a cool seabase.
Then once you're comfortable, start going further and further out.
If you make a radiation suit you can swim out to the shipwreck and grab some signals that'll point you towards a lot of the most significant stuff.Yes you literally pick the signals up off the ground and put them in your inventory, it's dumb.
>>147454923

I've been playing for 105 minutes and I'm already paranoid that I'll eventually run out of resources to craft water or craft batteries to power my seaglide. Is it true none of the materials respawn?
>>147459007
Alien containment is very cheap and can breed fish including bladderfish. Batteries can be regarded with a station ones the blueprint has been found.
>>147459007
Materials respawn all the time. Fish respawn very slowly, however, so build a base and farm those airsacks and peepers
>>147457506

>>147459007
I'm 14 hours in and I can still find quarts relatively easily. You'll have to go a bit farther each time, but underwater caves usually have massive amounts of quarts.
If you do legitimately run out somehow, you can always just use console commands. From what I know they're going to add in respawning resources, it's just not in the game yet.Or maybe they do respawn and I'm a retard, I dunno.

About the charger fins, does it work with the Seaglide? Because that has a flashlight of its own so I don't see myself using the actual flashlight enough to warrant the fins, yet on the other hand I don't imagine the faster fins stack with it.
>>147491064
Hunger is hardly an issue for me, but yeah, would be good if it went down slower.
Also food spoils WAAAAY too quickly.
>>147491195
Yes, it does work with the Seaglide.
>Escape Reapers without being caught
>Juke Crabsquids with minimal damage
>Navigate dark areas with minimal damage, if any
>Ram an Acid Mushroom I didn't even see, explode
God fucking dammit. My first Sea Moth is now scrap. Can I retrieve my depth upgrade, or am I shit out of luck?
RIP Wee Dinghy.
>>147491195
The Charge Fins will only slow down the battery consumption of the Seaglide, since when it's in your hands it's always active. Once the battery dies it's not recharging, only stuttering in a very annoying way.
The Ultra-Glide fins don't stack with the Seaglide, but when it runs out you still move faster than with normal fins.
>>147491219
The day/night cycle moves so stupidly fast it would make sense that your hunger and thirst goes down quickly too. I just pack some water and cured peeper in my Seamoth's compartment for the trip.
So Mesmers and Gasopods are the only creatures that become unfriendly once you release them from your tank. Crabsnake, Boneshark, Sandshark and Stalkers are all friendly.
If you run into them or get in there way when they want to go somewhere they'll do damage to you but they wont chase after you.
The Mesmer still puts you in a trance and I assume it'll attack you, I just repulsed it away, and the gasopod will still drop it's fart balls if you go near it.
One step closer to oceanic domination.
>>147491754

Are there Reaper Leviathan eggs yet?
>Exploring with Seamoth.
>Hear reaper noise.
>Look around for a moment, don't see him.
>Keep going.

For something supposedly without a brain they're fucking sneaky.
>>147491998
Not that i know of, but there are reef back eggs.
It'd be cool if you could build bases ontop of domesticated reefbacks.
The mobile vehicle bay needs to have a higher floating height so that getting on it doesn't cause it to sink far enough to start swimming. It's hardly used in normal gameplay but its a bit annoying to have to jump a bit when making replacement subs.
Also this general needs to be /subg/, not /sub/.
>>147491585
The Seaglide can be charged by swimming vertically since it only activates on WASD movement.
>>147490837
okay. can I use the planter to generate bio material for my power generator? I want to get the maximum efficiency out of my five-story food generator
>>147492476
Any kind of biological material can power the Bioreactor, so yes the planters will give you plenty of fuel, as well as your speciman container. Best thing is to breed rabbit rays for fuel, they give a lot of energy.
>>147492476
Anything organic can go in the bioreactor, that includes normally inedible fish that you might find eggs for.
>>147492476
yeah, you can even use fish. any biological material is a go including fish, eggs and plants.
just keep in mind that bioreactors can stay running for a long time depending on the fuel you use but produce energy slowly. You will need several in order to supply a big base

Ancient sea jelly?
I'm 20 hours in and I just realized I haven't even touched an entire half of the map.
I feel too afraid to explore because I wind up in "empty" zones which is like 10 times scarier than getting grabbed by a reaper

Now only populated by Flora and maybe a couple birbs.
>>147494340
And headcrabs.
>>147494402
Last few times they weren't there.
>>147494474
Can confirm there were headcrabs. The flora gives me food and water a plenty, living here means no longer having to work for my survival since everything is handed to me effortlessly and for free, I could stay here forever and admire that beautiful LOD terrain while waiting for the rescue team to come by.
>>147494474
There's also a reaper chilling somewhere along the shore a bit out if I recall. That was the only one to actually catch me while outside of any submarine vessel.
>>147494719
I dunno man, I peaced the fuck out of there. Read the data logs, their ship was shot down by something and their mercenary (presumably the only one with the most combat experience of those survivors) seemed hella spooked about setting up on the only island for miles.

These are the two I did. I love my tank, and it isn't even that big (3 floors). If it weren't for the lag, I would build it into the sky, at least 20+ floors. 10 fish per floor is rather rough on the processor though.

It has been said on the forums that release is probably going to be pushed back to later this year or early next. That's probably enough time for lost river and active lava zones together with story stuff, a bugfixing pass, and a polish pass (finish fragment assets, tech progression, etc)
>>147508908
Almost everything in the game except for the Reapers can be beaten easily enough with a knife. Hell, even reapers can die once you get the stasis cannon.
>>147508349
That's a lava vent, enjoy the loud rumbling every few seconds. There is quite a bit of valuable materials down there.
Also note that there is a cave entrance in the kelp forest at the very bottom, its very obvious when you see it. Don't stare at the strange squid things and don't touch even the smallest stinging barbs.
>Decide I'm sick of waiting

>Get Anti Radiation Suit, Habitat Builder and Seaglide before Aurora explodes
Two days since crash landing. Last three games it blew up on the second day.
Can you explore the aurora before it blows?
Got it yesterday now trying to figure out in Creative - how to make a habitat that has power and breathable air.
Is this what I'm supposed to be doing?
Building hab to surface and placing solars on overwater foundation?
I tried placing thermal gen on the base of a geyser (red rock from which the bubbles rise) but it didnt appear to be getting any charge.
>>147516375
Breathable air comes with power
To use solar panels you don't have to build on the surface, they work well enough even in 200m deep
Also I suggest you building a nuclear reactor for better power supply later on
Its cool to build above surface but you can go below with solar panels
>>147516308
Nope, the explosion exposes the areas that you can explore.
>>147516504
Thank you.
What about thermal generators?
Do they just not work in creative or is it not enough to just plant it on the red stone on the bottom of the steam went and chain power with pilons from it to the base ?
>>147517378
Should work, they only work in places where they have temperatures greater than 15'C (which isn't very hot at all)
>>147497505

Has anyone talked about how large egg creatures seem to overpopulate their holding tanks? Like one holding tank should hold one large egg creature or perhaps two. It's stupid having a double stacked containment tank with a hundred stalkers in it.
>>147526306
What do you mean by a double stacked containment tank? Are you able to stack them on top of each other to make them bigger?
>>147518009

>>147527615

Do the crabsquids give you trouble?
>>147531563
Also, I noticed you're using thermal plants. What is the water temperature?
>>147531640
There were 3 of them in the area when I first settled, but I killed them. Now it's just Jellyrays and Reginalds.
>>147531979
Around 30-40C where the thermal generators are, there's a couple hydrothermal vents just to the left of the picture. I have nuclear and bio reactors to supplement though, just because I didn't want to spam too many thermal generators.
I have to say, I really really hate all the glass windows in the vehicles you drive.
It makes me feel so exposed
I don't know when they added the cameras to the Cyclops, but it is probably one of the coolest features on the ship, although they really should have the horn button on a different key, so I don't honk every time I want to use the cameras.
Do the biogenerators only accept the giant sea weed or can I use any organic plant I find below 100m depth?
>>147533214
Does Unity support one-way textures? I'm pretty sure its a standard trick in every engine ever. Making the subs and exo have a "camera screen" on the inside with an opaque texture outside should be trivial.
>>147534095
They aren't kidding when they say that you can use any organic material in the biogenerator, you can use plants, fish, even sea treader manure.
>>147534095
You can use any plant or animal (or egg), although for the larger creatures you'll need to use ones hatched from an egg in an alien containment.
>>147534467
>>147534503
How many things can you put in it, and how long does each thing last?
>>147535489
Four, not sure how long they last.
>>147535489
For capacity, it depends on the size of the thing. The wiki has numbers for how much power each thing produces.
http://subnautica.wikia.com/wiki/Bioreactor
>>147535489
A few high-value fish will last you forever.
Unfortunately, you will also be waiting forever for anything to charge. If you want a deep sea base powered by bioreactors, be prepared to make several tower stacks full of them.
>>147536227
This. Bioreactor is only good for supplementing another energy source like Thermal or Solar. Never use it for the main power supply unless you're using a teeny base and won't have a Moonpool or any other high-energy things.
Why can't I build this?
>>147536668
The pipe right below the front of it is obstructing. Rooms need quite a bit of space.
>10 Bio Reactors
>3 planters of Lantern Fruit on each floor
I think I have enough power. Moonpool is always full energy, I have two water filters going, and I never seem to run out of power. What else do I need to put in to drain power?

I mean you see the god dam life pod being out of order within the first seconds of game play. Why would you not respond to the ducking prompts to get a welder? New to subnautica here. I understand a full release is coming around August. Any truth to this?

Which one? This is the Rock Puncher, it's only a little taller than the human character but it's thick and bulky and about twice as long as it is tall. It would be cool if the Repulsion Cannon had no affect on it because of said bulk
Bought this game on the Steam sale and I'm loving the atmosphere of this game.
All this game needs is Merfolk, something like villagers in Minecraft that you can trade resources/coral-equipment and interact with so I don't feel so alone:^(
>>147544942
the whole point of the game is that you are a lone survivor
>>147544851

It'd be cool if you had to carry around food to pacify some of these creatures so they stop attacking you, kind of like the Stalkers

Weren't they planning on multiplayer?
>>147545160
That would be cool. Rock Puncher's moving to attack your base, you give it some food, it calms down and leaves for a while.
This guy, on the other hand, wouldn;t bidge an inch except to erupt out of the ground and murder you. Funny thing is they said they stopped working on it because it was "too overpowered", like they couldn't figure out a way to balanc eit despite being the people who made it in the first place.
>>147541021
I mean really bro. These guys are acting like there's something keeping you from collecting the maybe 8 or so different materials you need in order to get to that point
It taks a few titanium, copper, glass, batteries in order to craft neigh every item on the crafting list in the beginning of the game.
Did you retards spend like 5 hours just collecting shrooms for the hell of it, even though you had no use for them?
Why would you not look at the crafting recipes in the menu, and go about seeking those ingredients right away? What the fuck else were you dong?

>>147565371
The practical purpose would be to operate remote vessels to do the exploration for you have bots or drills comb for minerals or explore remote at areas.
It makes no logical sense that a human could just get out of a nautical vessel at .5 miles deep just to collect some lithium or something ridiculous like that. They would die.
The deep sea stuff should all be performed by remote vessels outside of your cyclops.
>>147565816
Yeah, I'd like to be able to drones and shit to do that for me honestly. I really don't like having to get out at ridiculous depths in dangerous-ass places to scan a fragment or grab a material.
It's pretty contrary to the entire purpose of having those vehicles. Hell just stick some arms onto the seamoth so I don't have to get out of the thing every time I wanna grab stuff.

Even at modest depths in this game, an average human would not survive. To expect a scientist - a person who's job is sedentary and has nothing to do with diving - to be able to dove at these depths repeatably is a little immersion breaking. I mean initially fixing your life pod makes sense, but then obviously any other person would prioritize finding land and securing food/shelter prior to performing world record shattering dives for some trashcan blueprints

Doesn't matter who shot the Aurora down, it did get shot down meaning whomever did it is likely coming after them. Having or your new home being a big bright lighthouse on the only land for possibly hundreds of miles and the closest to the actual wreck when you have the ability to survive under the water isn't such a bad idea. Maybe they didn't need to go so deep, but I still prefer even the shallows over the island.

we know after exploring the island that living in the deep sea is folly, and already led to the other survivors deaths. Better to increase your chance of survival by reducing your exposure to the elements. How do you know where the aliens are more likely to find you? They could be sea faring and most likely are given how much this planets surface is made of water
>>147566092
Took some screenshots but nothing's appeared. Bleh. Might try again later.
On anoither note, I noticed that the Sea Emperor is sitll in the phase of being worked on that Markiplier and others have shown for the last couples of months. He doesn't even have a feding effect to him when he's in the water or moving around, he just pops in and out at a certain distance.

>>147568773
So then the problem must lie with your hardware if you're the only one with this complaint.
I wish there was a pussy mode in which you're immune to death put still need resources to make stuff and oxygen.
As it is, its either full creative build everything instantly with no death, or reapers eat you but you don't care about food & water.
I know I'm a minority and probably the cancer killing video games with this attitude, but I just can't fucking handle underwater aggressive enemies. Not even the dinky little stalkers, I shudder to imagine how bad I'd shit myself if I saw a reaper.
>>147568773

>>147568471
Just push through and do it no matter how scared it makes you. You're not in any danger so you can afford to be as scared as you've ever been.
You'll always be afraid of it, but you'll man up enough to deal with that fear and put it away.

>>147569316
Go into survival and type "nodamage" in console then.
You'll seriously better yourself as a person and I guarantee you will not look back at the experience and feel even the smallest amount of regret for going through with it.
Everyone is a coward, the difference is others learn to hide it.
>>147568471
It'll go away once you've got a reliable source of food and resources coming in.
I found the fear of depths above like 100m went away once I had a good fish farm going and had a reliable little base to come back to.
The fear never fully goes away, because at some point you have to travel outside your comfort zone and far away from your base.
But you can always build new little mini bases in different biomes to ease things up.
Then once you've got the seamoth it's smooth sailinguntil you have to get out to grab materials and you realize the danger you were in all along.
>>147569348
And I suck at posting pictures.
>>147569384

Sort of. It's a lot like what actors go through when dealing with stage fright. The fear never actually goes away, but you've done it so many times you just learn to live with it and it just becomes a nagging throbbing voice in the back of your head
>>147569463
A lot of it is terraforming, having to load up all the bits of terrain kills everything. When they remove it things should speed up dramatically.
>>147568689

There is absolutely no definite amount of time to guarantee that our beacon made it back to earth, but at the same time, the same people who sent us are going to find out something is wrong sooner or later and might send another Aurora class ship to investigate again.
By then, we might have found the source of what shot down the first two planets.

I can't find Common Coral to make bleach, and I'm dying of thirst trying to catch Airsacs all day long.
I finally broke down and used the wiki, to find out what I was already doing apparently isn't working. I broke my first knife hitting slanted corals and coral tubes with nothing happening, now I don't have the stuff to make a new knife and I'm in my pod miles from stuff to make a new knife.
Can I just give myself coral somehow? I'm mad.

What?
You start like 30 feet away from creepvine
And there's metal salvage everywhere

Would love the same shit. Maybe even the possibility to interact with them, trade quartz or shells for coral crafted equipment that you won't get anywhere else, even armor padding that goes over the suit.

You have to hit the plates on the coral tubes, sometimes it doesn't work but there's plenty of tubes to try it on.

>Deep sea fish people that collect shiny stuff
>They use hammers made of crabsquids and bone sharks
>Tame Crab Squids that follow them around
>They watch you as you swim around, and will act very wary of you if you have a knife out
>If you build something near them, they swim around and inspect it. They won't attack or damage buildings.
>If you drop ore in front of one, it will inspect it
>If it likes it, it will beckon you to its hovel (a pod you can't actually enter or see into)
>It'll then give you something in return, then make some happy sounds like a satanic dolphin or something
>They can drop monster eggs for you, including Reefbacks, Crabsquid, Crab Snakes, and others you can't get normally
>If you attack one, kiss your ass goodbye as it shrieks for help just before more of them swarm your position.

I'd be okay with maybe a few being able to do trade and shit but I'd prefer the vast majority of the tribes in the world be hostile. Just makes sense to me.
Or I could be okay with them being neutral but heavily leaning towards aggressive, like going aggressive if you were to pull out any technological item

This was my idea too.
Majority of them being hostile or very cautious around you, and circling you when they see you because you look fucking weird as shit. Maybe through a huge trust agreement where you offer shit will they allow you to wander around their community and initiate trade or visit your base.

Well, something happened with my save and it got messed up. There goes 36 hours. I may just wait till the next major update to play again. I had just started a nice base too.

Aren't they technically highly advanced warping species that travel through space through portals and whatnot? I'm taking about primitive locals that actually colonize the ocean and make dwellings/communities.
