dolphin rape caves confirmed yet?
>>
Oh god, I just got the Seamoth and I'm getting massive motion sickness when piloting it.

I don't think I can play this game
>>
>>147258324
It could just be your Scanner being snarky.
>>
>>147258425
Are you playing with VR or something?
>>
>>147258324
are you implying it's possible to dissect it to actually confirm how it functions

it already has a more or less pointless roar for gameplay purposes of not being raped
>>
>>147257869
That would require many little needles poking from the Stilsuit into your body, can you imagine swimming and moving around like that?
>>
>>147258657
Do you know what IV is?
>>
>>147258657
IIRC Dune had it to where the stillsuit had a little tube at your mouth you just drank out of

I assume that's how a stillsuit would work in a futuristic setting, just grip n sip
>>
Friendly reminder https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dy4HA3vUv2c
>>
>>147258772
Yeah, a BIG needle in your arm. How is that any better?

>>147258854
That works fine when you're not underwater most of the time and also need a regulator in your mouth.
>>
>>147258487
No, just regular 60hz monitor. I get bad motion sickness from games with headbob, but so far Subnautica was fine. I really like this game, but I can't play it if I feel like throwing up after 5 minutes in the seamoth
>>
How accurate are the reaper spawnpoints on the map of the last thread?
>>
>>147259067
That's a shame, anon. I hope you can find some way to tolerate it
>>
>>147258324
They're saying "no brain" the same way a person would mean "lmao that nerd has no muscle"

they don't mean he doesn't have a fucking brain you big dummy
>>
>>147258973
OK so apparently the stillsuit is just a Dune thing and probably heavily if not entirely "inspired by" dune
description of a stillsuit via Dune
>It's basically a micro-sandwich—a high-efficiency filter and heat-exchange system. The skin-contact layer's porous. Perspiration passes through it, having cooled the body…near-normal evaporation process. The next two layers…include heat exchange filaments and salt precipitators. Salt's reclaimed. Motions of the body, especially breathing and some osmotic action provide the pumping force. Reclaimed water circulates to catchpockets from which you draw it through this tube in the clip at your neck…Urine and feces are processed in the thigh pads. In the open desert, you wear this filter across your face, this tube in the nostrils with these plugs to ensure a tight fit. Breathe in through the mouth filter, out through the nose tube. With a Fremen suit in good working order, you won't lose more than a thimbleful of moisture a day...
So I think the stillsuit in subnautica given a helmet would basically make H20 a non-factor while eliminating the piss bags; such a helmet would definitely be lategame equipment though.

I can't find jack shit. I've been going through kelp forrests, wreckages and grassy plateaus for a solid hour and haven't found a single one.

Try the aurora maybe
>>
>>147260820
You need to go around where the sand sharks like to hang out in the big open seabeds. The pieces of the Seamoth are different from regular metal salvage pieces, they tend to look like rounded quarter-circle sections (the ship's stubby wings). Be patient; when you come back with the Seamoth you can pulverize every last one of them to death with your titanium bubbleboat.

>>147259234
Just consider everywhere in a 1 kilometer radius to be a dangerzone.

Not that it mattered much for me. When I finally got to the Aurora I didn't see a single one. Went in through the scenic route, tossed a few crabs into the sky, fixed the ship, harvested several lithium nodes off the cliffsides, nearly got all of the Cyclops parts in one go, then suddenly two Reapers almost right next to each other. This was the first time I've ever seen them but thankfully my time spent smacking sand sharks around was good piloting practice.

The couple now visibly patrol the seas leading to the now-inert Aurora. Too fucking late, niggas.

I honestly though you can only start building your base starting from the pod, since there's an entrance on the bottom of it. You know, it would be attached and shit.
>>
>>147267953
I wish you could attach it to a base. The pod is pretty useless after the early game and you build your first base.
>>

It is. It should have more of a purpose in my opinion. I don't know, make it possible to either salvage it for materials or actually sail in it.

Two hours in. Just got the Still Suit and the Seaglide.

When can I start really exploring and building bases? It feels like I'm moving at a snail's pace right now.
>>
>>147271132
1. Get an additional oxygen bottle in your backpag
2. Start going down around 100m and try to find ruins/seamoth pieces
3. Start building more shit and getting more materials
4. Once you get the seamoth shit will become easier

Try to visit the floater island when you can for good blueprints that will make it easier in some parts too.

>When can I start really exploring and building bases?
you can start that faster than you think, the first playthrough is always slow. get at least two oxygen tanks and use the seaglide to find the seamoth parts in grassy plateus (sandy area with red grass). after that air isn't really a problem since the seamoth will replenish your air wherever you take it. if you have the upgrade station you can make your tanks hold even more. two high cap tanks give you about 165

Alright, thanks. Just getting some more batteries for the Seaglide so I can go back there and properly explore.

Any way to better escape those shark things or is it just a matter of swimming away?
>>
>>147272669
Early on, swimming away. And hope that one day we'll get spears in the game so it will be easier to defend.

Try getting a radsuit and fixing Aurora if you haven't already. Lots of crates there, some with batteries.
>>
I got got the bone shark and sand shark eggs to hatch in my aquarium, makes scanning them easier when they're tiny non hostile babies.
I wonder if I should put them outside my base too, I'm worried they'll turn hostile.
The worst the Stalker does is pick up my little robot camera buddies. They'll chase them to hell and back too.
>>
>>147272782
Think I'll make that my goal for the time being then. Then I'll stock up on food, water and start exploring that biome for the pieces.

Really liking the game so far but it was dragging quite a bit.
>>

Please tell me the Seamoth fragments aren't close to the Aurora.
I went there and it's over 100m deep and pitch black in all directions.

>>
I think if the lifepod still drifts after you weld it, you simply need to reload the save after welding since the pod is still smoking/sparking a little despite being welded so it definitely counts itself as "fixed" and enables the gravity well thing

Not even that. Once you get the sea moth and built a small base, there's really no incentive to explore. Sure go get some blueprints for furniture or the cyclops so you can dive super deep, but why? You don't have any reason to explore those areas except for sight seeing purposes. From the time you build the first couple rooms of your base and get the upgrade station, there's little to no actual progression left
>>
About to relocate my base to accommodate the cyclops. Where should I put it? Thinking about the grassy plateau.

Now I'm just worried I'm fucked; I'm at 11 health and it isn't going up, even at full health and h2o. I'm on Survival, and I'm sure there's no death penalty other than losing all of my items, but how the hell do I heal other than the one medkit I started with in the lifepod?
>>
>>147283048
batteries, havent got battery charger specs yet
>>
>>147283049
In your escape pod I there is a health station that gives you a health pack every so often.
>>
>>147283049
The life pod should fabricate new health packs every so often, not sure what the time period is though. I think you can also fabricate more health kit fabricators for your base.

This game gets pretty comfy around end game, I dunno if it's just me but I've always wanted to be able to listen to my own music in game.
Like just drag and drop some MP3 files into a folder and play them on an ingame radio.
Or like, do the same with videos, just drag and drop an mp4 file and watch a video in your deep sea underwater death forth.
>>
>>147283617
Suggest it to the devs, there's a built-in feedback button that's super easy to use. F8 I think is the standard keybind? I can't imagine adding your own music would be too difficult to implement, though personally I'd be worried about ruining the atmosphere.
>>
I was running out of space, and built a waterproof storage thing. It said my inventory was full, so I went to put stuff away. Where does it put the item for me to pick up? It's not on the floor of my lifepod, or nearby in the water.
>>
>>147285104
I think it stores it in a buffer and then as soon as you have enough inventory space it adds it. If not, then idk it might have been deleted.

>>147286493
Honestly I thought the game autosaved when you entered your base.
>>
What do I do once I fixed the aurora. I've pretty much built everything I have blueprints for. Just go trolling the ocean bottom for random shit?
>>
>>147287458
Find some of the lore, get the last of the blueprints, explore the spooky depths, then wait until august.
>>
>>147287564
So that's basically the length of the story so far? That's like 45 minutes of content, plus darting around with cosmetic base items
>>
>>147288104
That's basically it unless you're gunning to make the giant sub.
>>
So I just built the moonpool, how do I modify my seamoth?
>>
>>147288804

You need another machine, called the seamoth modification station, which can only be built in the moonpool.

it's kinda dumb that that isn't included with the moonpool desu

>It hits a sand bank, then bolts into the sky

More intense than any game I've played, god damn. I'm glad I picked this up.
>>
>>147280061
You need to create your own goals, man. For most people interested in this time of game, that collecting shit and exploring locations to make a comfy base. With alien containment you can also build an ark if you like. This is a game about conquering the ocean.
>>
>>147293271
You can burrow into the dirt like a mole, though that is being removed soon.
>>

>get around 80-120fps

Why does this always fucking happen?
>>
>>147295018
Stuttering will be mostly fixed once terraforming is removed. It checks every time you load into an area what you've terraformed.
>>
>>147295785
Hope so. I'd take no stuttering over not being able to dig useless holes.
>>
>>147295992
So will the update completely invalidate anyone's save that used the terra former tool? Or will it affect anyone who so much as just dug a hole once in the shallows.
>>
>>147295992
Don't forget allahu akbar fish expanding the cave systems and base construction awkwardly carving out formations.
>>
>>147296260
it's safe to assume you'll be stuck on an old, unpatched save since base-building is also tied to terraforming currently (it flattens terrain)
>>
>>147296373
Jesus. I hope they release the patch soon so I can actually start playing.
>>
>>147296373
Wait, so the save I'm on won't get the new features because I dug a few holes by accident?

Now I know why I rarely buy early access games.
>>
>>147296635
Luckily it doesn't take as long to get back to where you are on subsequent playthroughs since you know where everything is.
>>

>Multiplayer dropped
They've been saying they wouldn't address multiplayer till after release for ages now, it's hardly suddenly dropped, retard.
>>
>>147269025

Because it was fucking up the game something fierce.

>Multiplayer dropped
They never confirmed it in the first place, they said they're interested in putting it in but not until after the game is stable and released and the main story content is in.

>No really scary creatures or deep sea shit
They're going to be adding more to it after release. What kind of "deep sea shit" do you want?

Why are you even in this thread?

Just to shitpost to try to convince people to stop liking the things they like?
>>
>>147286064
Some of the habitat parts are going to be made unavailable until you find the blueprints for them, so they might put some in the Aurora.
>>
>>147298068
Yeah they know people want it since everyone constantly asks for it but they want to actually get the game out as something of a complete experience and won't consider even looking into multi till then.

Similarly, aside from performance issues, they chose to remove terraforming because the amount of time and resources that it would take to get in anything near a workable state in-line with the rest of the game would detract from everything else.
>>
>>147296635
you'd be surprised how fast you can scrounge up all the stuff you want within a few game days, barring maybe the cyclops
>>
>>147298171
Nope just disappointed that the game starts off well then turns in to complete shit. Could have been great but ends up feeling empty and lifeless. Just look how great everything in the intro sequence is, as well as shallows area. Clearly defined progression actual goals Tha make sense, some semblance of a story arc...

Then once you move past fern gully the graphics turn to shit, horrific gem try and sharp polygons everywhere on floating islands terrible textures no sense of direction just a bunch of shot and a handful of poorly modeled fish slapped into an empty worldscape.

I mean if I were a new device this would be the best place to learn things - oceans are empty as duck to begin with and I it takes next to no skill to generate a world with no ducking landscape whatsoever. You can tell he can't model for shit because everything outside of the tutorial zone looks like a kid made it
>>
>>147298026
This is one of the few without procedural generation. They crafted environments and creatures to be discovered, which is the wonder of oceanic exploration that would draw people to a game like this. If you arent interested in that, the game isnt for you, much as a grand strategy game isnt for the dudebro. You wouldnt claim that grand strategy was shit on the basis that it doesnt have content that interests you.
>>
>>147298864
It's almost like theyre still making the game.
>>
>>147298864
This might surprise you, but the game isn't finished. Of fucking course there's not much to do at the "endgame".
>>
>>147298864

The intro sequence is relatively new. Fuck off
>>
>>147298864
Posting on a phone sucks

>>147298901
Conceptually the idea behind exploring an ocean to survive after a ship crash is great. However the game is empty as shot once you leave the tutorial areas and the story drops off. Have you been to those floating islands? They look like something from TES III: underwater red mountain, with how poor the modeling is. If the main draw of a game is to explore a stunning landscape they could at least make some competent looking fucking models
>>
>>147296635
when you start the game again just use the console to build the base again and get the items back. And yeah, be ready for this type of thing until full release
>>
>>147299060
>>147299190
>>147299253

>>
>>147296635
Honestly using the console is pretty easy, you can get things set up again pretty quickly.
>>
>>147299320
Hopefully the game gets popular enough that the community can step in once the developer (however many there are) finishes what their doin. Would like some more detail in the less explored biomes like the dunes and mountains.

>>>>/trash/
>>
>>147299487
You realize this game is a bit different in that they automatically push updates twice daily so everyone can see and PLAY what theyre doing, and they've been developing at a pretty decent pace, such that two months is enough time for drastic change, right? There's a ton of assets that need an art pass still, and that's the main complaint aside from adding concrete goals, which is the coming story, mandatory for full release.

I am highly skeptical of EA from all the numerous examples, with tripwire's incompetence firsthand, but you are a fucking moron.

Yes yes yes, because we're not angry at stupid shit and accusing everyone of stealing money becaus e"hurr TEH JOOZ!!" maymay we're obviously shills being paid off by the secret Game Liker Mafia who also did 9/11 and assassinated JFK.

Stop being angry over an UNFINISHED GAME not being finished yet. It gets almost constant small updates and a big one every month that adds and changes a lot of things. Hell they were working on the game while they were on vacation. And if they can't meet their August (no date mentioned, so it can be anytome during the month) deadline, oh well, I'd rather they wait until the game is done enough to release than release an unpolished mess.
>>
>>147299487
ok
stop playing and fuck off then. should have pirated

I tried playing this game but I fucking CAN NOT. I have a very real fear of the ocean. How do you guys even do it? I can hardly be near the surface without a constant fear nagging at me. I want to play this game so badly though.

Has anybody just simply pushed through their fear to play this shit or are you all hardened badasses?
>>
What would /sub/ like to see as far as map boundaries go? I haven't been but right now I believe there is just a huge abyss drop off with tons of dangerous monsters running around. Talks on the official forum say that they're toying around with the idea of a randomly generated world outside the main play area.

So am I to assume that you guys enjoy the art direction of this game outside fern shits? How them mushroom speedtrees and jagged walking paths treating you? How about all this wonderfully fully animated fish that look like paper mache when they move? Sure is fun diving down super deep with that ship I spent an hour bobbing up and down out of the water to find parts for, only to find a couple blue testicles and some scraps

See you guys in august so I can laugh at release
>>
>>147300120
That's pretty much what I did.
Leaving the escape pod from the bottom isn't as scary as jumping into it from the surface. I staying in the safe shallows for a while, stayed around the bottom because fuck wide open water. Eventually you just get used it it, you know what can and can't hurt you, what will and wont be there, and it feels a lot safer.
>>
>>147300120
Just try to push through the fear one biome at a time. It took me a good Ingame week to make my way past the first kelp forest into the grassy plateau without shitting my pants with fear.

Sink!
>>
>>147300204
A randomly generated world would be pretty awesome.
Honestly if you could make it past the map boundary that was filled with tons of reapers I'd like some more unique biomes and fish that aren't found in the main area, a more deadly ocean would be cool.
>>
>>147300120
I'm scared of the ocean but I know that nothing in a video game can get me, even if I am a bit spooked. Now if I was using some VR, then I wouldn't be able to play this.

>>
>>147300286
Not him, but this kind of shit genuinely unsettles me. Combined with the whale noises coming from the reefbacks and it sends shivers down my spine. I prefer sticking close to the bottom so I don't have to look out at the murky emptiness like that or worry that something is under me.
>>
>>147300326
Alright I think I'm gonna try this. Cause this game looks really damn neat and I'd like to play.

>>147300286

>>
>>147300643
I built 2 of those hefty O2 tanks so I could glide my way along the bottom of the ocean all the way to red grass area without diving into the open.
>>
I'm trying to elevate my base a little because of stuff on the floor clipping inside, but don't want a foundation on the bottom as it interferes with what I'm trying to build. It seems like you arent allowed to deconstruct any foundation while other parts of the base exist, so what are my options? The only thing I see is two stacked corridors, but the vertical connector is way too damn tall.

I am deathly afraid of murky water and wide open ocean water to a point that borders an extreme phobia, yet I still play just fine because I manned up and pushed through it. Really not regretting it now, you need to learn to face your fears head on anon.
You'll always be afraid of it but you won't act on your fear so much. Just that much can turn a fear into a powerful weapon and a powerful shield.
>>
>>147302283
Even with a compass. You can get an idea of direction from the aurora but there are no landmarks relative to a map and multiple biomes exist in multiple locations. I'm trying to figure out which lifepod I've spawned with and it's looking like a different one than I thought but I'm not sure.
