Tips:
You can change vocations at level 10 at the Gran Soren inn or BBI.
Character appearance can be changed later on.
You don't need pawns, but they help.

I don't think I ever play mage. Except in Diablo-likes. For Kingdom of Amalur, Dark Souls, Dragon's Dogma or the Elder Scrolls, I always go for Warrior and end with abusing the bow.

Except in Dark Souls where the bows kinda suck. I don't think I ever used a single spell in Dragon's Dogma.

Magick Archer truly is a poorly named Flaming Daggerman.

>>147314862
I almost always play mages or archers, sometimes I'll play a spellsword/enchanter type character. Rarely play pure melee niggers, Dark Souls is the only exception really since I usually go with spears or swords in that. Magick Archer is a godsend, though I'd prefer if you could also shoot normal arrows that didn't home and had a trajectory and shit.

It's good regardless, the spells are stronger though. Like MA, you can even play it as a support class if you're a madman. In fact I wonder how well it would do against daimon using the holy wall thing on the shield with a firing squad of ranger pawns behind you...
>>
>>147320005
not him, but how much worse would it be going full physical?

I'm currently building a warrior/assassin but I want to keep my options open for trying out MK especially since I like Abyssal Anguish
>>
>>147320041
You get plenty of magic from weapons generally. I'm actually not sure how it works with MK though since you cast with your sword and full physical swords seem to work fine. If magic cannon works the same as the gazer's cannon, physical attack on the weapon that strikes it determines the magic damage produced (because a low level character does 0 damage, only knockdown, on that cannon to the eye), so the other sword spells may work similarly.
>>
>>147320005
Can I not bother with minmaxing then, and just switch to it now at level 11?
>>
>>147320041
Physical MK is great. I use Abyssal Anguish, one physical skill, and Stone Jungle for nuking things on the side (even with physial based stats/gear, it deals a shit load of damage and stuns big enemies).

Physical MK is so strong, that I actually once killed Grigori during the chase sequence when he's breathing fire from the hallway. It skipped the entire boss fight sequence and the credits rolled right then and there. The maxed out BBI mace gives you attack power on par with a Warrior (it's only like 100 weaker maybe), plus the fast moveset of a Fighter, plus the stacked damage from AA and whatever other enchantments you have. Physical MK is one of the most OP builds in the game, it's just not as versatile as some other classes (though you can fix that by carrying a staff to switch to when needed).

His quests definitely make him look like a weak ass, but he as a good physical build and if you talk to him between quest, he gifts you rare items only found in dangerous areas. Also when you complete the last quest, he gives you post-game monster materials.
He's probably a weakling and those gifts are just RPG sheanigans.

Valmiro isn't a weakling, he's feigning being hurt so you'll give him curatives because he ran out and he's too much of a cheapass to buy more. The only reason you're the Arisen and not him is that when the dragon attacked he was thirty miles away near Gran Soren slaying the cockatrice that Salvation would later resurrect.

Hi guys, I was looking at this sheet and don't quite understand it: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1EBa1CNhY9LXq7qbyV6Gj4jxBmHSbc3ASp3rIrBrAxpI/edit#gid=274777126

So from what I understand of DD's damage system, each attack has a multiplier for your character's base Strength/Magic stats, and another multiplier for the weapon's stats. So the sheet has those values included, which is basically what you'd expect. But then it ALSO has an extra stat: "Power"? Does anybody know what that's supposed to mean? Is it a flat amount of damage added after the multipliers to strength/magic, or something?

What makes strider/ranger pawns more liable to use actually good strats like climbing/hundred kisses or tenfold spam? Do inclinations help there or do you really have to limit your pawns to as few skills as possible? Been playing for a while, just really in the dark when it comes to pawn metagame

My Ranger only has Tenfold Flurry. Even then, she didn't use blast arrows until suddenly one day she did. I originally gave her Tenfold only because with Barbed Nails and goldforged Revenant, a pawn can stunlock Eliminators and kill certain enemies really quickly with certain status arrows by spamming tenfold. And if they have multiple skills, pawns will stop spamming tenfold in order to do other stuff.

Then one day she just started using Blast Arrows. I had her carry them for me whenever I farmed Death/Daimon. I've heard of training pawns, idk if it's a real thing, but maybe she saw me tenfold blast bosses so much that she started doing it herself.

I've heard Scather makes pawns more likely to climb. The first time I saw a Strider pawn do this was with the pawn in this video, who was a Scather: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lz-VYXtevYU

My own Strider was also a Scather. Even then, they don't always do it, and sometimes other pawns in your party will screw it up anyways. Like sorcerers who like to Gicel the cyclops as you're climbing it.

Fighters with aggressive inclinations will spam Dragon's Maw a lot if they have the stamina for it and are surrounded by enemies. My Fighter just happened to have picked up a couple sour ambrosials in the Lost City or w/e it's called, and ran into a big group of eliminators in a narrow alley.
>>
So last. Might I gave the bandit chief several skulls. He says "this deserves some merit!" After 3 or 4 he just gives you the group.oire. I'm not going to gift him back the grimoire. To see his reaction. I will spending much of this playthrough trying to romance this bandit.

Can somebody see what happens if you steal it and then give it to him?

Edit. He's given me a quest now. This is all new to me. I've played through this game quite a few times. Never knee he would dish out quests.

>waiting until 200

>>
>>147330738
Agreed.
You have to play the class you want to play, simple as that. Mix and match other classes to get their augments for 10 or 20 levels and you have a balanced build that won't be numbingly dull after 12 hours of powerleveling with Veteran's Priapt always on.

As a rule of thumb I'd say aim for at least 400 defense and 250 magical defense, should be enought to have good survivability. Physical attack and magical attack just depends on your personal tastes.

fuck, I played mage to rank 3 and I already hate it.
my pawn looks cute as a strider, but now she'll be shit for ages and get bad ratings oh god.
>>
>just tried witcher 3
>good ideas, but it's fucking hard to see what's on the screen
>combat is too much button mashing and aggroing solo enemies
>and it's slow as fuck
Despite how bad Dragon's Dogma is, I still prefer how it handles combats over the other games I played.
>>
>>147332898
got it during the sale last week and having a blast so far.
The weirdest thing to me is the death system, though. Why do you time travel to an earlier point in time when you die? Especially since a big point of the game is that how your pawn learns from your actions.
They could've made it so that you get punished for failing, but your pawn learns from it. The way it is now, the game doesn't punish you at all.
Game Over screens are a relic of arcade times, and any game using them is actively crippling itself.
>>
New to the game, lvl 30 now, did 15 levels as strider and 15 as fighter to get beefy and to get some augments. Is it viable if I switch to sorcerer now or are my spells going to hit like wet paper?
I heard it helps to get some magic defenses for the endgame.
>>
>>147333306
A system à la Dark Souls where you respawn and people comments on you dying would've been real fun.
Plus it woulda made the Arisen real badasses instead of just making them superhumans.
>>
>>147333417
the comparison that always comes to my mind is Shadow of Mordor, just because it also does some witty NPC AI shenanigans. I played that game for hours just raising and killing ork chiefs.
Just imagine all the pawn dialogue about how he's sorry you got eaten by some monster.
The game does the whole persistent world thing decently, so it just feels really weird how they decided to add a simple fail state instead of a mechanic that made sense. Why is it so infuriating to see a good game stop right before reaching the next level of quality?
>>
>>147331123
honestly just use reshade and sweetfx, it's a thousand times less ugly
>>
>>147333697
Don't talk to me about Shadow of Mordor. I hit the max level before even doing 75% of the game simply because tracking and hunting orcs bosses was that fun.
>Just imagine all the pawn dialogue about how he's sorry you got eaten by some monster.
And the NPCs surprised to see you trying again.
>"But Arisen, you got killed last time! Do you want to die again?"

The main beef I have with Dragon's Dogma is that it does a fine job of explaining the whole ecosystem, but it also makes Gran Soren small as fuck and doesn't really explain if there's a bigger world at large or not.
The map is just so damn small, and yet you often have to walk a long time to find anything. They should've added horses or something.

>>147336609
On console, I had 3 level 200s that I played regularly, and a couple more that I didn't really touch. I couldn't even remember what it was like to not be 200.

>Can farm 1mil RC for myself, or anybody else, in ~10 minutes by farming Death
>Can kill Daimon about a dozen times in an hour
>Enough abyssinal sets for every character I have
>Can do Lv.3 Gear runs in ~5 minutes, each run gets 1 or 2 gear on average
>Even have low level alts set up in full Lv.3 armor so I can farm Savior Ring by making new accounts and bumrushing to the quest, then gifting it to main pawns

Playing PC where I couldn't rely on my main accounts to powerlevel and farm gear/RC for me was refreshing.
>>
Started a sorcerer playthrough and decided I may as well do some of the quests I'd normally never bother with, like going to Witchwood. Specifically, because I was curious who Selene is and why everyone and their grandma seems to have a boner for her. I lost all my fucking pawns to bandits, had to run through about 20 bandits and 5000 wolves, nearly died 7 times and had to fight everything in Witchwood solo as a fucking rank 2 sorcerer. Only kept going out of sheer desire to find Selene, plowed through the fucking miasma and finally reached the hut. And what am I greeted by? An autistic child.

I am judging all of you so fucking hard right now.

Assassin's got a lot of cool attacks, as well as a couple counter moves that work sort of like Assassin's Creed combat. The problem is that other than cling+slash and the counters, the other skills don't have the same kind of utility and/or power as the major skills of other yellow vocations (or the MK). I love the class for the variety, though. Switching from daggers to sword to bow to shield skills is pretty fun.

Just bought the game. Would you recommend playing on a controller? It's a capcom game and the menu is rather funky so far. Whats the gameplay like on keyboard?
>>

>>
>>147343504
>>147343624
fuck keyboard, this game works best on controller.
they all have grab, and you can throw them too. And you can climb on large monsters.
>>
>>147343504
Both Keyboard and controller and Gamepad work fine, it's a matter of preference. I like keyboard with the AHK script in the OP more.
>>
>>147343504
Both works fine. I guess most of us are playing in with a controller because we're coming from the PS3 version.
I would advise the controller tough

>>147343624
Every class is fun. Depends on what do you like to be. Fast, strong, magic, with magic powers or not...
It's up to you.
Every class can grab and climb monsters. But if you want to climb monster and hit them and the speed of light. Then go for the strider or ranger class.
Assassin is pretty good too since you can also use swords.
>>
>>147310705
From Cassardis it's not as bad. Still bad though. Can you open the shortcut through the mine?
>>
>>147343182
As long as you don't do a pure fighter/assassin or mage/sorcerer build, you'll be fine (and you'll still be fine in those builds if you're focusing on physical or magical skills, respectively). The game doesn't really punish you for playing whatever you want to play.

That said, I'd prioritize magic a little more than physical attack if you want to main MK.
>>
>>147344571
Forgot to include prioritize physical slightly over magical if you want to main assassin.
>>
Wait, is vocation rank not bound to level?
But stat increase is, right?
So I can't just pump my vocation to 10 and get a more rounded stat set? How do the vocation ranks even work, the wiki page on vocations is garbage.
>>
>>147344775
Whenever you kill an enemy, you get Discipline points, which, besides allowing you to buy skills, raise your Vocation Rank.
Raising your Vocation Rank means access to new skills and new Augments. You can check the wiki for Discipline points needed for ranking up a Vocation, and a list of Augments to plan your build.
>>
>>147344775
Vocation levels up as you collect discipline points, which are a separate pool from exp. You gain discipline points based on your xp gains, though--a certain percentage, which depends on how much xp you gain per kill/quest. You get a higher percentage at lower xp gains.

You spend discipline points to unlock vocations (the first time you switch to that vocation only) as well as skills and augments; this does NOT affect leveling up in your vocation.

Different vocations require more or less earned discipline points to level up than others.

personally I feel like there's a lot more you can do with M+KB much easier, but controller has always just been more intuitive/more comfortable for some people, especially for this game

You might wanna postpone that quest until you are at least level 10 and you can buy better weapons at the capital.
Have you been to the capital yet?
>>
>>147350510
Anything other than mage for your main character. Mage is okay for a pawn as that's the only vocation that can heal, so especially in the beginning (when you don't have an excess of healing items), having a mage on hand is quite useful.

That said, you can switch between vocations pretty easily and there's no real penalty for doing so, so feel free to experiment. Having multiple sorcerers can allow you to pull off world-ending spells faster; having a pioneer tanky pawn can help take the heat off your ranged/casty character, but pawns don't make great aggro-collectors, so keep that in mind. If you want a pawn to do as much dps as possible, strider is one of the better options. But those are all just suggestions.
>>
>>147351793

Enemies don't scale and this game doesn't really hand hold. If you can't kill something then most likely you're not supposed to be there.

You should absolutely buy better weapons as soon as you have the chance, and though money is tight in the early game, there are some ways to get some better ones.

The easiest way to make a little money in the very beginning of the game is escort quests. If you talk to the villagers in cassardis enough, their affection will grow to the point where escort missions will pop up on the quest board there; several people in cassardis want to go to Warrior's Rest, which is pretty much right next to the encampment, meaning relatively quick, easy money.

Don't take on escort quests anywhere else at this point in the game unless you really want to go on a grand, difficult adventure, though.

The quickest way to make money in a new game, though this is substantially more dangerous, is on Bitterblack Island. If you go to the Cassardis docks at night (I think you have to have gotten your main pawn first), you'll find a woman who can take you to an area that's meant as post-game content. If you accept all the quests at the quest board here, run past the first area and into the second, you'll find a safe area with a merchant. Interact with him and loot that area, and with a little luck you should get a few dozen thousand gold, more than enough to get you decently equipped for the beginning of the game. (Warning: going to Bitterblack Island before you're ready will make it difficult to hear a little of the lore connected to the BBI campaign.)

Reynard, the merchant you find being assaulted on the road on your way out of cassardis for the first time, can also enhance your equipment, and he hangs out at the encampment until you do the hydra head quest. If you have the materials and extra money for it, you can enhance your weapons for more attack power.
>>

Monks can be really OP, if that's the kind of fun you're after. And in 4E, there's a subclass of fighter called a brawler, which can be built into a fucking powerhouse. What made it really fun was that my DM being good at describing it.

It's shit with the mouse regardless, clicks are weird, unresponsive and often when you try to click something it selects something else. There's also things that I think are issues even with a controller, like the second or so delay before you can interact with some menus which is tedious and annoying and the way that not all of your skills show up on the right when you're learning skills until you click the category.
>>

>>147353753
Assassin is the least fun class imo, apart from gale harness and that one sword skill where you place an explosive charge and detonate it with a fuse that has high knockdown. Even then the latter isn't very useful in my experience. Assassin gameplay boils down to using gale harness thousand kisses or dire gouge while clinging to your foe (m1 spam) or counters like masterful kill (which make the combat feel like assassin's creed's, a franchise known mainly for nearly everything but its combat because the combat is trash). In the case of clinging to things, strider and magick archer get more fun variations on that imo.

Not the most worthless class though, that's mage. Mages are just shitty sorcerers with anodyne for if you somehow can't stay very light while carrying enough curatives. And Grapnel, an overlooked and underrated skill but still not enough to elevate the class above any other imo.

I thought I needed RC earlier but now I don't cus I finally got the level 3 I wanted. Also earlier I was 111 but now I'm nearing 150. Good luck though, reminds me I need to send the pawns I was doing Daimon runs with back.

>>147357673
Depends. You're in for a fun time if you're careful and methodical and like a challenge. BBI is doable as soon as you can access it, I went there at level 10 this run and if you get stuck I might or might not be headed to the beach tomorrow for freedom day but if not I'll probably be around to offer advice.

On the other hand, you'll get super strong weapons and armour and shitloads of levels, so it will totally trivialise the main game since you'll be overleveled and overgeared. However, I feel the main game, which I did first in my first run, is pretty easy regardless. Many people also become frustrated with BBI's difficulty even at high levels so if you're not gud it can be bad.

I'd actually recommend for your first run you do the main game first so you experience it as it is intended, but if you back up your save to start a new run (not NG+ but an entirely new level 1 character) or start over try out going to Bitterblack early because it's a tonne of fun.

This weeb has a couple of runs up that sort of explain the run and showcase some strategies he came up with to deal with his custom challenge (though he breaks his own rule about online a bit for rift crystals; I also played online for rift crystals in my recent run but didn't do any save scumming so I can confirm that isn't really a necessity).

>>147372783
Boats are clearly okay despite the brine. The people of cassardis would bemoan not being able to go out in boats to fish if they couldn't, and several of the villagers were put on the water during the dragon attack, and it's strongly implied the brine showed up immediately after the attack--presumably sooner than far-ranging boats could have returned.

And yeah, I imagine the countries that Mercedes and snek-boi come from are on the mainland where the church headquarters are, though that sort of implies Gransys is an island of some kind. Maybe britain-ish?

>>

Cyclops is singular, cyclopes is plural. It's like octopus and octopodes.
>>
>>147385284
That makes me remember.
I really liked how in Dragon's Crown they had a name for a group of Cyclopes, a "myopia" if I remember well. A bunch of Owlbears was called a "Council".
In DD:DA, the pawns know about wolves hunting in packs, about clutches of lizardmen and about drudges of undead.
Really feels like this kind of grammatical research is making the game more alive and credible, and I don't know many games that goes out of their way to give names to "group" of monsters.

Nice colour co-ordination.
>>
>>147407642
Strider gets hailstorm which is super cool and absurdly powerful, and also gets brainsplitter which is fairly cool and absurdly powerful. Strider is about the only way a pawn can consistently do substantial damage, and a strider pawn will frequently pull shit like tearing off two or three of the final final boss's healthbars with a brainsplitter or hailstorm.

Ranger on the other hand gets a generally more powerful and fun to use bow that just assblasts shit if you use it right, and is very versatile in that you can both dish out pretty high damage at a much larger range than anything else AND dish out the most insane burst damage short maybe of an eminence brainsplitter at point blank. Endecad shot does baffling amounts of damage if every bolt hits but also fans out and pretty evenly covers a wide angle and deathly arrow/comet shot are a lot of fun to snipe with. The dagger suffers as a result of this bow focus but if you just want the best archery it's here imo.

Magick archer is more magick than archer honestly, though the daggers are definitely a big component, as they are to assassin and strider. I'd prefer if its basic bolt and maybe one or two of its skills weren't homing both for the sake of precise aiming and to make it seem more like a bow, and it would have a better feel if maybe some of its spells (sixfold bolt and explosive rivet in particular come to mind) worked like ranger's charged shots, but on the other hand ricochet hunter and sixfold bolt with true seeker are both pretty sexy. It's my favourite vocation but for archery ranger wins out because MA just doesn't have the "feel" of using a bow.

Assassin is garbage imo.

As a rule of thumb 250/300 is where you're relatively safe from getting 1-hit K.O

I'll probably just bum some level 200 pawns and weal items from somebody, then do the living armor fall damage farm in black abbey.

Or I could try enjoying playing through the main story. It's actually pretty fun if I'm not just trying to bumrush everything to get max level and gear ASAP.

Game defauls to 3 stars, no comment and no gift when the pawn dies.
0RC, 3 stars and a rock probably means that guy is trade banned, happens when gifting more than 10 items or restoring a back up save.
>>
>>147425736
Is there some acceptable gift I don't know about? I hire pawns all the time, usually rate them 4/5 stars and make nice comments but I have no idea what to give them when I want to be appreciative. I gave a loli pawn shackles for laughs once and a warrior got a skull to symbolize all the times I had to revive her but I dunno what constitutes a "nice" gift.
>>
>>147426617
Good healing items ?
Rare materials ?
Hard bone, Large nut and hoes are usually joke gift.
I usually give a salubrious brew or a strongwarish to pawn I really liked.
>>
>>147426617
Nice gift is stuff like diamonds, wine, ambrosial meat, spring water, or other decent curatives.

Generous gift is Wyrmking Rings, BBI level 3 armor, gold weapons, port crystal, Platinum Rings, or rare mats like moonshimmer pelt.

Gifts of respect or affection are Blessed Flower, N'er do Part, Love in the Rough, Golden Egg in a flask.

Could anybody here help me with converting my console save to PC? I decrypted my PS3's save, copied DATA0.DAT and DDDA.sav into the directory with the savetool, ran pic related through the command prompt, and get this error. What do?
>>
>>147428401

>>
>>147428690
I'm reading the steam thread, and three people had that error. One of them was a typo, and the other two never got a response from the maker of the tool. I'll google around a bit more, I guess.
>>
>people complain game is too easy
>they are playing on easy with easy mode classes

Am I the only one who finds this game Hard on... Hard? I've played through it about a dozen times with a dozen different vocations and while some are more easy than others I always found it hard.
>>
>>147428401
>>147428690
>>147428769
OK I got it to work. Well, "got it to work" is not really accurate. It just worked suddenly.

I read that getting the .xml that Brute Force generates and repacking that would help. So I tried that, but it the program said it couldn't repack it. Then I tried it again, and it worked. The only thing I did differently the 2nd time was that I used CD to go to the directory that the savetool was located in, rather than typing out the directory starting from C:\Users\.

That... shouldn't make a difference? I only did that because I expected I was going to be trying this many, many times over, so I didn't want to type in the full directory every single time. But maybe that is what made it work, idk. Computers are fuckin' weird.

Anyways, it's saying it converted just fine now. Fingers crossed that it actually worked.
>>
>>147429432
I find the game to be fairly easy even on hard (assuming NG+), but that's mostly because I know how to cheese the shit out of basically everything.
>>
>>147429743
I just stuck it in C: to keep it simple.
>>
>>147429971
This is the case of most people who think hard is easy. They start off on normal and pretty much become OP before starting hard. If you start hard from the moment you start the game you will understand very quickly that the game is indeed hard. Even with the 2x EXP and massive gold drops Grigori at the end can and will kick your ass if you didn't min max a build.

does dealing with the night get any better at some point?
it's one of the most annoying things to deal with starting out. feels dumb that you can only manage it with an innkeeper and there are no camping tools / can't use beds in random shacks you find

any spells that illuminate more clearly or something?
>>
>>147437272
Yeah, but you know what I'm the most hyped for?

This shit right here.

No more resting 7 days at cassardis inn and running along the beach.

No more memorizing which areas they spawn in at BBI.

No more duping at Monty.

Why did they remove unlimited flask purchases in the console DA, anyways?
>>
>>147439525
If you meaning skipping through night, no, you still need to rest at an inn, certain established camps around Gransys, one of the benches on Bitterblack Island in order to make time progress faster. It gets more manageable as you pick up portcrystals and the eternal ferrystone, which will let you fast travel back to an inn and then potentially back again. And there aren't really any spells for illumination, though the magick archer bow skill Magickal Flare will let you fire a bolt at a distant area that can give you a little light there for a very short time. One of the bitterblack novelties (level 3) is the elite lantern, which has a larger radius of light than the normal lantern.

as >>147440314 said magick archer gets a spell arrow that creates a light. Contrary to what he said, when you upgrade it to the second tier later on it lights up a pretty broad area for a fairly long time and is about as bright as daylight. With the ring from bitterblack it can light up the market in gran soren and a good ways down all the side streets branching off of it if you fire it straight into the air.

There is also a lantern from bitterblack, the Elite Lantern (as he also said), that has double the light radius of a normal lantern, and (as he missed) there's an early ranger augment that makes normal lanterns have double radius as well.

If dark nights are really not to your taste remember you're (presumably) on PC and have access to mods, you could just get a lightweight ENB and turn up ambient light at night.

there's a reason maelstrom is so good even against shit that doesn't get tossed up and isn't actually weak to dark. Every enemy has a critical threshold that when crossed procs a critical hit when using a dark weapon. A critical hit typically takes between 5 and 15 hits to proc and when it does it does 2-9x damage, stacking multiplicatively with augments and periapts, which also blows out damage thresholds like mad. It multiplies physical damage as well, simply dark enchanting a bitter end will multiply the physical damage on it every several hits. Holy is just overrated because of HFB and the ur-dragon and daimon's weaknesses to it.

afaik Ranger with blast arrows is the only way to stunlock death 100-0 without him running away.

But plenty of builds can scare him away before he's able to do anything.
>>
>>147454586
She did, but I've learned a little more since then. Didn't make any major changes there, gave her the advanced form of toss and trigger. I have no idea which version of my pawn got hired though, I leveled her as a warrior until she maxed out that vocation then switched her to two hand for bastion and then switched her to strider, which she's been up til present. We'll see I suppose
>>
>>147455483
>But plenty of builds can scare him away before he's able to do anything.
Well that's what I mean. He's acting like you have to kill death to keep him from eating pawns but most classes can stunlock him until he leaves.

Also you can use the ever-valuable "come" command to make your pawns get away from the scythe though that's risky because scathers especially are fucking atrocious at taking commands.

>>
>>147455969
What are spells and skills better left unleveled ?
Maybe the shield taunt ? As the first level is way faster than the upgraded one ?
>>
>>147455627
Yeah, trying to get the pawns to not die vs. Death is basically a crapshoot if you aren't equipped to stunlock him until he runs. Or if there are lots of enemies around that will prevent you from focus-firing him.

Usually I just run away and re-zone to ensure nobody loses out on RC. That's exasperating, though, because a lot of times I'll be having fun fighting a bunch of enemies before Death shows up.

And then there are the times when you load a zone, only to notice that a pawn is missing, and the game autosaved.

IIRC there's a trick around pawn deaths, though. I thiiiink it's to summon the pawn again, then not rest until you've sent them back with gift/stars/etc. They can even keep getting RC as long as you don't sleep. If you rest before sending them back, though, their owner gets the body bag.
>>
>>147456048
IIRC, Death under certain circumstances won't run away if you meet him in the stockade? I don't remember, I haven't actually played this game in ages.

The other way to one-shot him is with a sneak attack when you run into him after Gazer. Some attacks will instantly stun him if he hasn't aggro'd yet, and he'll fall into the river and die instantly. I think holy shotgun is good for this.
>>

uhh for spells i think the only time you MAYBE wouldn't want to upgrade them would be when you get to the third (Grand) tier. simply because some people don't like their cast times.

personally the only time i don't like it when a spell is upgraded is when a mage has Grand Anodyne. that extra cast time isnt worth it imo

for skills, i cant think of any skill that is worse when upgraded. i don't like putting the shield skills anyways since all you need is perfect blocking

>>

so you can give him the gold idol in your first run and then give it to jewtits on ng+ to get both
>>
>>147469383
If you're not planning on switching her between physical and magic classes, stay away from mage, though a little sorcerer can be good for boosting magic defense if you feel like you're getting low on that. I mean, mage isn't a great class unless you want a heal + grapnel supporter, anyway. If you want to go magic, definitely max sorcerer out at point, preferably pre-100. That'll give you some good magic attack, too. Either way, ranger's a pretty good choice.
>>
Just beat the drake in devilfish at lv40. Got a dragon forged lions mane. Man that feels so good.

Funny however my arisen was doing like zero damage to his heart. While my sorcerer pawn takes away 3/4 health bar with a single spell.

OK cool. One last question for now, why does the google doc sidequest chart in the OP say to only complete two Wyrmhunt quests before starting Stage 3? I've been in stage 2 for around 14 hours now and would like to move on but I don't like leaving quests unfinished if I can avoid it. Is there some reason I shouldn't do Seeking Salvation and Watergods Alter or is it just a speed run thing?

>To continue the story, you only have to do 2 of the first 4 main quests below. However, for this trophy you must do all of them. After talking to the Duke and leaving the castle during the main quest 'Come to Court', the screen will show the Duchess in the garden. You must talk to her 3 times until she removes the jester hat (you received it at the start of this quest) to access her side quest.

Hi,

I just started playing this and leveled a fighter to 12 and then switched to Mystic Knight. I'm now level 24 and all is going good. Is there any tips and tricks I should know about which skills to use and if I should level other classes for augments? The same applies to my pawn, who was a level 12 mage and since then a sorcerer.
Does anyone have any pro tips or tricks on building a good mystic knight and sorcerer?

Does anyone have a mid 30's mage pawn that can heal they wanted hired? Most of the casters around this level seem to be sorcerers and I'd prefer the healing over more damage. I think it affects the damage you do with grand scension and nothing else, and you probably won't end up using that skill unless you make a really gimmicky build, so I'm gonna say no. I usually use framae. Immolation and I'm pretty sure sunflare do physical damage that scales off of dagger attack, though you wouldn't expect it.

It's not that intense most of the time, but some of the brightly lit areas on white stone in bitterblack and interiors in gran soren with a lantern on at night cause it to blow out especially. I believe it's in my lens shader, which iirc was taken from K ENB for Skyrim.

>>
>>147512714
Not the entire ENB, but files like lens and prepass are usually interchangeable presumably because boris doesn't (because he doesn't have to) change his base code much. Most of the people that come out with ENBs within a day or two of Boris releasing the first binaries for a game, like Wickfut, are able to do it so quickly because they have heavily bloom-shader-reliant ENBs and just make minor edits to their core file (enbbloom.fx), which also carries their signature look over. I think enbeffect.fx carries over between games poorly though, and I've had some weird instances where for example a game seems to use a different kind of depth buffer than another, like trying to use a fallout: new vegas depth of field shader with dark souls 2 has decidedly unsatisfactory results.

Well that's true. Depth buffer implementations vary per game, and any sane developer inverts their depth range but some still don't. On top of that, things might look bad because of various alpha overlays such as fog that mess with depth values as well. I don't think ENB does this, but GeDoSaTo allows for effects injection before these sorts of effects are even drawn on screen yet.

Pretty sure ENB doesn't, it was a pretty big problem in DaS2 because there's a large area that's blanketed in fog and it looked just atrocious with AO on in ENB.

Anyone else prefer ranged battle? I think close combat is disgusting.

On the way to ophis. Cyclops looked at me, roared, turned jumped off the cliff and died. Pleasantly surprised with that adventure

Oh, yeah, it's not super uncommon for the devilfire drake to fly into the lake nearby. That's how I got my first dragonforged stuff in my PS3 save. Was minding my own business on the opposite side of the lake and out of nowhere half my equipment got dragonforged. I just burst out laughing.

how many hours of game do I have left?
>>

Do you mean that as in, the main quest?
I think that's about halfway done.
It's not uncommon for people to play literally hundreds of hours after beating the main quest though.

How can I level up quickly? I just beat that holy undead priest in BBI, at level 65, getting my shit pushed in quite badly after that.

Still having fun tho, thing I can say about most new games. Here's another fun game.

So, I went strider lvl10 > assassin lvl 55

Can I go ranger or magick archer without dropping DPS?

Use Pilgrim's charm (sold by Fournival).

Play whatever class you want.
Use the Dragon's Dogma stat planner if you want to prepare your numbers in advance.
Just remember to get at least 400 def and 250 magic def for survivability.
Don't think about DPS too much, think about what you want to play first.

Can I buy it from it without the king's guard chasing me around ?
>>
>>147537250
No, but that means you may be in post-game.
In that case, you can finish the game and clear BBI while in NG+. You will also have a new pinata to hit for XP, wakestones and bucks.

Pilgrim's charms and Weal equipment (I believe most of that is sold by Montebank) will both double your exp, and I think they're multiplicative with one another. Grind high exp bosses like Gazer in BBI if you really want to grind.

Alternately, you can replay some of the early areas of BBI to get BBI armor and weaps level 1 and 2. That should boost your stats to the point where the right party should really be able to force their way through.

Magick Archer plays well with either high attack or high magick attack, but keep in mind that dagger skills rely almost entirely on your attack stat, while magick bow skills rely almost entirely on your magick attack.

Yes, he can. Fournival visits Mountebank during day, usually around noon. Guards only attack you in the noble district.

>I think they're multiplicative with one another
No, they both grant Weal which is a status effect and you can't have the same status effect active more than once at the same time.
Weal does stack with Hard Mode, giving you 4x exp.
