Questions about CK2 from a newb...
I'm a Petty King of Ireland right now and it's like 780 AD. I've got one duchy and another duchy that I can't afford to make a title for yet. So my questions are:
Who should I be giving my holdings to? Men from my dynasty only?
What do I do with the bishops that I inherit from taking over a county? They always hate me and I often see the warning about losing the title when they die?
Will my vassals always want to be on the council? Should I just ignore their demand to be on it? They seem to have shitty stats most of the time.
Finally, is there anything I can do to prevent my lands from being divided up due to gavelkind succession? I figure I need to change my succession laws, but my only option is one that seems even worse. Will I get more options as time goes on?

IIRC, because you started that early Ireland started as tribal so they only have gavelkind. In 1066 you'll start as feudal and not gavelkind IIRC, so that won't be a problem. Yes, tribals can only have gavelkind, that's pretty much the only reason why people feudalize ASAP
Just keep your vassals happy, making them on council or giving holdings only to your dynasty won't really matter much, though IIRC your dynasty members love you more by default
That warning about losing the title is usually a bug, let the game run for a few days and it usually fixes itself. You can check their successors in their character pages, just make sure that dude doesn't have a higher title waiting for him in other kingdoms than yours. I guess you can figure this part yourself in character screen

The AI does stupid shit, and I mean at the high and low level it's all fucked. The world stockpile TODAY is 41 bbl, or 41 days of oil consumption. What makes you think you could store enough oil (because let's be realistic, oil is the posterboy for the resource system) to make a significant dent in consumption, much less new production?
If you're going to complain about anything, complain about the lack of oil consumption by units; why does it cost oil to build aircraft, but not to fly them?

Why not make every single brigade type that have to do with machinery in game require fuel as 'equipment' input. Make this fuel have 0 reliability so that it disappear really quickly. Then you can produce this 'fuel' from oil at some rate. Might need some extreme balancing since equipment failing isn't calculated each hour.

5 months of stockpiled oil is better than literally none, it's enough to oh I don't know, take back a captured oilfield maybe? instead of your tanks just stopping the same day someone else gets near your pipelines.
Now those are some acceptable results. Unemployment around 4 to 8% instead of vanilla's 12 to 20%.
A lot of unemployment is concentrated in Germany, where the fields are full of people. They need to emigrate or promote to craftsmen faster, or both.

and yeah, the essential wartime consumption is only a fraction of "regular" consumption.
But I think abstracting strategic resources in that way is hardly the worst sin of HOI4. No nation that I'm aware of maintained meaningful, truly significant stockpiles of any of the major resources. It's fun to what-if about hitler starting an extensive storage-tank-building initiative pre-war, but it's unrealistic and ultimate not all that interesting.
Overall the results for early and late game improved dramatically. At first I made the mistake of focusing too much on late game and now I balanced early game to be closer to vanilla. This implies changing a lot of things, but overall its better than shortages.
Unciv shortages is also something I need to tackle.
In any case the numbers for the economy have never been better. Demand for tea reached 30K, something I never saw before with the best in vanilla usually fluctuating around 20K in a peaceful era.
