I posted this in the last thread as well, but it was early as fuck and I doubt most people saw it:
I've effectively just beaten B&W, which was what was holding me up on beginning the AAR. I've got some final quests to do and some more areas to explore, but after that I should be starting immediately. Even if I start by Friday (which isn't inconceivable) I might not be posting until Sunday/Monday, though, as I want to get at least a decade or two in before I start posting, just to make sure I don't get immediately steamrolled by a Jihad and lose the game. I won't rule out losing the game in the course of the AAR, but if I do lose I'd ideally like to last at least a century first.
Anyway, in other good news, my planned trip in July has been unexpectedly shifted back to August. That means I should have plenty of time to do the AAR without significant interruptions.
Also, because an anon asked me in the last thread, I'm going to be trying to play at around the same time I did the Napoleon AAR, from about 1:00 EST to about 7:30 EST every day. That's subject to change, of course, but it's what I'll be shooting for.

I think I had the most fun war in any grand strat I played in this game. I'm playing as the king of Wessex, on the Old Gods start. The Dutch became independent and formed Frisia, and I allied them through marriage ties. But for some reason later on, they decide to put a prentender on my throne and land a 10k doomstack on my capital, partially capturing it and taking my daughters hostage. Luckily I barely managed to defeat it in battle with the help of some mercenaries, who defected later on and attacked me with zero casualties on my side. I killed the king in the battle, and chased down the retreating army with the new king.. and killed him. By this point my 1 year old daughter had died in the newest king's dungeon who was 13, and I was pissed. I landed the rest of my 5k stack in Holland to enforce my demands and end the war. The kid pissed his pants and called in West and East Francia into the war, but they did jack shit. I captured the little shit and some other random chick who was part of the dynasty, slaughtered them both, and ended the war. The heir for the newest king on the throne of Frisia is my cousin, so that might be a fourth king dead here.
Le blog aside, I'm sure I'll get tired of it after I get used to it like all other Paradox games, but the sheer amount of interactive mechanics and dynamism makes it different for me.
Im still mad about East vs. West. I've been playing NWO for darkest hour, and its only made me want a Cold War game with appropriate mechanics even more. The Cold War DLC that comes out for HoI 4 will definitely be shit.

Alright, I finished Witcher 3 unexpectedly early. That means I'm going to be starting on the CK2 AAR as of right now.
