I'd love a new shared town.
Just don't follow the mistakes of other shared towns by trying to do too much.

Last shared town simply quit because they had set up an incredibly complex schedule system where they would change their item selection on a daily basis and then shut down the town to give people hacked villagers at specific intervals.
And, as it turned out, people were getting an undue sense of entitlement.
It's also why basset was literally banished from this general and the nintendo network.

I had an idea.

I like people being in my town. I feel the game is best played when there's 1+ people popping in your town per day, even better if it's unexpected. So I thought of a way to open my town up a bit.

With no real schedule, I'll pop in the thread at times I feel like exchanging friend codes and let people into my town after I get a good amount of exchanges.

On special events such as Town Visitors (Katrina, Redd, Joan, etc.) or holidays, the town will be "members only" which really means I'll be posting in the thread that my gate is open, but I will not be accepting new invites on these days. This is because I really hate the process of adding a bunch of people at once, and would much prefer adding 3 people per day and having all those people i added through the week to come over easily on special days.

I also have two other friends who will be helping me decorate/stock my town before it is public and even while it is public.
Random goodies will be placed either in Retail, or hidden in the town.
I like to use letters as diary entries. This means you might get to see some personal shit if you talk to villagers if youre into that? might be lewd. who knows.
Items purchased by me from shops will be placed in Retail immediately after purchase.
