Alright, so if Link was only asleep for 100 years, the Adult Timeline argument may be pretty thin. He'd have to either be put to sleep before the Great Flood, Hyrule pass from living memory faster than the Hylians even die, then the land unflood and the Master Sword moved from Ganon's head to a pedestal, and this Link reawaken while Cateye/Toon Link is most likely still alive. I suppose this Link could be put to sleep 25 years after OoT, sleep for 75 years, then awaken 25 years after WW and that would shrink the problems, but still.
It could also take place many, many years AFTER Wind Waker, so long that Hyrule was unflooded before this Link was put to sleep.
I'd almost question if this Link could be the Hero of Time in the Downfall Timeline, and that instead of dying in the final battle he was rescued and put to sleep, but that would only make the right-handed aspect even less sensical.
And Pre-OoT is almost completely out of the question, seeing as the Great Plateau is pretty clearly Hyrule Field and Castle Town.

Consider the fact many Zelda characters seem to live for a very long time. Hell, we don't even know how long is a year in Hyrule.

Though another piece of info that supports the downfall timeline placement (as much as I hate that thought) is the fact the Monks all reference helping those who would defeat Ganon, which is the only form we see Ganon/Ganondorf in in the Downfall timeline.

The role of Ganon is important indeed. I think the fact they call him "calamity" is also worth noting.
"Ganon" actually appeared in the Adult and Child timelines, altough he was just a giant Puppet in the former and a Ganondorf twilight transformation in the latter.
I don't know. The Old Man could also be Ganondorf, trying to defeat Calamity Ganon, as a way to cut out with the past.
But yeah, Ganon being in BotW will have consequences in discussing the timeline.

The name Ganon derives from the name Ganondorf, as far as we know.
Ganondorf did not exist previous to Skyward Sword or during the events of Skyward Sword.
Hylia was a goddess until long before Skyward Sword. She wasn't a goddess during and after Skyward Sword.
If those monks are blessed by the Goddess Hylia, then they must have been there since long before Skyward Sword. Why are they there? For what purpose were they placed there? When and how did they learn of Ganon?

The way you start into the game is very, very odd compared to all other 3D Zelda games. The lack of a community of origin indicates dire times.

...Retcon? Really, though, when it comes to things like specific statues, to the location of Death Mountain, to the ruins of the old Temple of Time in relation to Kakariko Village , I've become pretty lenient on the changes.
As for the bridge, it's named after the lake. As for the lake, I assume most Hylians forgot the true source (The Goddess) and assume it's named after Hyrule. The Sheikah didn't name those after uncovering lost tomes, they were named then it was forgotten why they were really named that.

In OoT times, the royal family did not rely on Hylia relics, even though it would be more logical than relying on the Triforce. That alone tells me that careless Hylia worshipers are one step away from the stake. The N3DS will be 2 in October. But the DSi's games were gimmicky camera-focused things for their new camera trinket, if I remember correctly. The New 3DS has an extra joystick, two extra shoulder buttons, and more powerful hardware which allows it to tackle games the original 3DS can't (for technical reasons, not lack of a camera reasons). I just don't see Nintendo throwing out the 3DS line when they released a new version seemingly aimed at prolonging the line's life.

The Twin Peaked mountain range from the original Legend of Zelda's official artwork have been put into the game and the developers were VERY adamant about pointing that out.
We have yet to see a game that follows directly after Ocarina of Time in the Decline Timeline, unlike in the Adult and Child timelines. (Meta reason, but still)
Personally, I don't think they should make a game as a direct sequel set in the Decline Timeline. That timeline feels like it was more of a holding zone where they put the original Zelda and Adventure of Link because they couldn't make sense of where to "fit" them into the timelines they currently had.And it just feels like such a downer, knowing that according to the Historia no matter how well you save the day it's canon that Hyrule eventually withers and dies, becoming "Lesser Hyrule."

None of the recent Zelda titles could really amaze me after OoT MM and WW. I played TP but lost interest fairly quick and I didn't even try SS but watched some gameplay and it didn't seem to be a good title.
Now fucking BOTW gets announced and even though I didn't even dare to hope it would be good it looks like a game I've always wanted to play, but I just never imagined that it would be a Zelda title.

I have this theory that Great Fairies are the Hyrule equivalent of angels.
While some of them do not look very divine, Nintendo stated that Fi looking like WW fairies is very intentional. When SS Link completes the Triforce, we hear one specific nostalgic tune. It's the melody of the Great Fairy fountains. While I considered it to be a nice choice for a mystical moment, there are lots of other tunes they could have played there.

I even liked Pokemon Picross until getting to the puzzles that just demanded too much time to be a "quick little thing to pass the time" (and also took absolutely forever if you didn't have Pokemon suited for those-sized puzzles). That actually makes me think of something. I get the feeling that no matter what timeline BotW takes place in, it'll be the same one as the original Legend of Zelda. So if it takes place in the Child or Adult Timelines, the original will move to that timeline along with. What if they choose to abolish the Downfall Timeline, move ALttP and ALBW to another timeline, do what I said with the original and BotW, and then abolish Zelda II because they simply cannot find a way to fit it between the "First Princess Zelda" and the towns named after the OoT Sages? I kind of feel like the only one here who liked Zelda II. It's different sure and it's nowhere near my favorite 2D Zelda but I like it. Well at full health you kind of do. In close range, it's all about getting to the sweet spot and backing away or ducking afterwards. When you get the upgrade that lets you downstab, it becomes a good bit easier too.

Hmm, the map in Breath of the Wild is incredibly vast, yet a very significant amount of Old Hyrule is shown to be only the Great Plateau.
