The actual game is much, much worse. I ran back to 4U with open arms, 140s with low-mid tier weapons are a hell of a lot more fulfilling and challenging then anything MHX can throw at you. I'm also not a fan of "go fight ember dino 10 times/blazing los and or tempest narga 40-50 times each", it does not make for a fun endgame and those monsters make every fucking other weapon in the game obsolete for most weapons. What are you doing out of curiosity? Speedrunning all the monsters and never fighting them again? The only MH I've played and literally ran out of things to do at 200-300 hours was MHGen. In every other MH 200-300 hours is the early game and I start making armor/weapons for fun and improving sets. At around 500-600 hours I pick up a second or third weapon to main, and then I continue from there. I don't have a MH I haven't spent at least 1200 hours in except MHGen, and I see myself playing 4U until the 2500 hour mark at minimum.

You need to do your initial shield charge from axe mode in order to get full red shield. If you do it from sword mode you only get yellow which is half as effective.

All the range weapons are stupidly good with Bushido/Adept, but HBG in particular is just plain ridiculous:
>take explosive ammo as your single HA (same as the old fashioned limiter removal BUT now you can use it and crouching fire at the same time)
>every time to dodge it reloads AND you can instantly begin crouch firing by pressing X
>just tapping B while crouch firing counts as a dodge if the monster touches you, so you can just crouch, siege, crouch, and repeat
>every time you dodge you get a bonus 10% damage for 10 seconds (along with the bonus 15% from explosive ammo)
